Does anyone else have a problem with the 'mass murderer' Mr Christie portraying Santa Claus!! Also, the opulence in this film is far from the humble stable where Jesus was born, quite nauseating.
I'm not sure if I like this trailer. It lacks the sort of uniqueness the trailer of the original version of this movie had. It would have been cool if they made a trailer that followed the likeness of it.
I just love that Movie..... It truly is a miracle how easy humanity goes over in non-believing.... how they live their lifes in non-believing.... and how less and still how much it only takes, to bring back the Faith... and Hope .....
The ones who truly believe... no matter in what.... they will have their miracles....

Two years ago two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later the babysitter was calling to see if she could cover the clown statue in the kids' room. The father said "Get the kids out of the house, we'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue". The "clown statue" was actually a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this on 10 videos tonight the clown will be in your bed at 3:00am with a chainsaw in his hand. Sorry don't want this to happen to me

The 1947 original is so much better. This movie is crap and so are all the other remakes. It might have been good if they didn't cast matilda and intertwine a sappy love story. Old films were good at subtlety and they worked up to the final kiss at the end without having all the sap in between.
I think it's a nice movie, I think I like the original better, I mean what?, they couldn't get permission to use the Macy's parade? That's the REAL start of Christmas. But I really wanted to put my own experience here, I was on the other side of the deaf girl part in real life. (I was Santa at our local mall) and as much as it meant for the little girl, and her mom to stumble on a Santa who knew sign language. It's also wonderful for the Santa, to see her face light up. I did it a year before.
i still prefer the original 1947 version, but this movie is better than the colorized 1947 version which I hate more than all of the adaptions combined (if a movie was originally made in black and white, why can't it remain in black and white???)
Ive only seen the old one ( the black and white one) and we are playing the theme from this in orchestra...can someone reassure me this "new one" (technically 17 years old XD) is the same? We want to watch it in orchestra but i don't know if i could handle a remake :'(

Wow, probably the worst adaptation. Nothing will ever beat the original. This one sucked sooo bad. Mara Wilson is WAY too cutesey to play Susan. Susan was an independent thinker. She wasn't sad about there not being a Santa Claus
this is the bets portrayel of santa I have EVER seen. absolutely amazing. I especially loved how his work shop was located in a dream land rather than the physical world.
this is also much better than the older version, because susie and santa have a lot more of a spark to them

er... maybe I'm biased but I like the original MUCH better, it's one of my favourite movies, and while I suppose this is a fair attempt at recreating it, it's a complete oxymoron. The original makes you think and makes you want to believe something but this one gives the impression that it has to give the audience exactly what it wants on a silver platter.

Kris' speech to Ms. Walker is a wonderful expression of the NEED to believe in something, anything greater and beyond yourself and the mundane routine of the world. I love the original version of the film, and I love this version. Both are wonderful expressions of the simple joy of what a human CAN be.
You ONLY create a remake IF the original can be improved...this film does not make the cut, and does not improve the original. It is more a statement about the lack of creativity in film making as screen writers can't come up with something new.
@dancertm well given that it's a remake, I don't think making something new was the intention there. But I can see how something like that could be overlooked ^o)
The part with the deaf girl gets me every time. Supposedly the actress was deaf and the shock she shows on her face in the film is the real shock the little girl had to think that santa would know sign language.
Sheesh, what kind of parent tells their small child that Santa isn't real? I mean, sure, the little ones eventually realize that he's a only a symbol of the holidays. But to tell the cold hard truth so early?
I saw this last night and I just couldn't get over it. It's so REAL, I could believe that he was really Santa! I think it was the first Christmas movie in that I think captured the spirit perfectly! <3
@TheBritishGothic Do you actually believe its better than the classic??? Santa Claus from this version looks like a child molester, the lawyer looks like a rapist, and the little girl looks like she's acting for a pudding commercial. Oh, and the woman looks like a slut. That is all.
I love this movie. It's a true Christmas classic no matter which version you watch. Of course Dylan McDermott makes this one especially nice to watch. :)

Kris' speech to Ms. Walker is a wonderful expression of the NEED to believe in something, anything greater and beyond yourself and the mundane routine of the world. I love the original version of the film, and I love this version. Both are wonderful expressions of the simple joy of what a human CAN be.

You ONLY create a remake IF the original can be improved...this film does not make the cut, and does not improve the original. It is more a statement about the lack of creativity in film making as screen writers can't come up with something new.

I have to say that between this one and the older one, I like this one better.
The 1st one was great, but this one of the few Re-makes I liked better.

The part with the deaf girl gets me every time. Supposedly the actress was deaf and the shock she shows on her face in the film is the real shock the little girl had to think that santa would know sign language.

I saw this last night and I just couldn't get over it. It's so REAL, I could believe that he was really Santa! I think it was the first Christmas movie in that I think captured the spirit perfectly! <3

@TheBritishGothic Do you actually believe its better than the classic??? Santa Claus from this version looks like a child molester, the lawyer looks like a rapist, and the little girl looks like she's acting for a pudding commercial. Oh, and the woman looks like a slut. That is all.

I love this movie. It's a true Christmas classic no matter which version you watch. Of course Dylan McDermott makes this one especially nice to watch. :)
