Not that it matters what color you are; the haka is more a celebration of NZ culture and identity which means he's perfectly entitled to perform one. Having said that, the Chinese guy really looked out of place!

@bobduvar Why the fuck do you find it pathetic, you've just a proof than a country can hold many different cultures, and that all the different people living there are proud of this culture. NZ seems to be the only "colonised" place where people have this fantastic mind (compare to Australia or South Africa !!) and where white people are even proud of the old culture of the country... I wish it could be like that in fuckin France, my place, but it's not.

That white guy in the middle may be more Maori than either of the two at his side. I've known loads of 'white' kiwis, some with blond hair and blue eyes, who are part Maori. For all we know, he may know more about Maori culture and be more fluent in Te Reo than the Maori cops.
Not that it matters what color you are; the haka is more a celebration of NZ culture and identity which means he's perfectly entitled to perform one. Having said that, the Chinese guy really looked out of place!

I love the Haka, but isn't it weird for white kiwis to do it? It's not their culture, so it doesn't look natural. (I talk as if I wasn't white myself...I am, though not a kiwi)

I´m chilean, and as many countries with native people among their population, we discriminate them..... I envy the NZ culture and the respect among races, sharing their traditions... so for me, watching this kind of scene with white people envolved is even better....

@cacamanchurrete hey, thanks for your answer. I've lived in NZ long enough to see there's no much "sharing of traditions". At least that was the opinion I formed in my time there. (Just so I make myself clear, I also hold the opinion kiwis are awesome people.)
Still, to me, a white kiwi doing the haka seems they're just in for shits and giggles instead of "tradition" (I mean, I know doing the haka is FUN! lol).
Anyways, I'd just like to see a Maori's opinion on the matter.
