If you could put a reference or 2 from a reputable source, I'd love to read about it. As it is, I don't think that I have any impartial evidence on the web (sales hype, etc) from one side or the other....thanks! I also believe in research.
when i use normal shampoo, my hair is heavy, weighed down and my hairdresser tries so hard to figure out what the hell im doing to it to make it so unhealthy. i dont use products or heat, regular shampoo and conditioners just didnt work for it.
then i switched to silicone and sulfate free products and my hair is amazing, its light, it has amazing volume and waves, less breakage, more shine.
all i know is that pantene aqualight is the most amazing thing to happen to me ever.
Uhh, I don't recall ''sulfate free'' shampoos to be a bandwagon as I can only find sulfate free natural products, like Organix or Burts bee's or I can only find sulfate free in salons, it's actually really hard. I'd rather buy something more natural, as it is more healthier for your hair, than buy shampoo with sulfate. I've been using sulfate free shampoo and my hair has grown so much faster and it feels softer and healthier. It's a bloody miracle!
Just because your hair doesn't react to sulphate as much as another persons hair might, you think its a hype. its a personal thing and it really depends on the hair type, for me personally sulphate free shampoo's been amazing, the condition of my hair is so much better its softer, thicker and I have less split ends. plus those chemicals are not just detrimental to the condition of your hair..
All you people needs to shut up talking about I wont use sulfate shampoos ur not naturally organic people if you drink cokes and prosing and other nasty ass crap and I fried food and using lotions and make up ya butt can't put down what the girl is saying none of ya are living 100% natural ya all hypocrites if you're. Not going to use sulfate shampoos then stop living cause that's what ya gonna have to do stop using sulfate soaps toothpaste lotions perfumes stop drinking colas
This girl needs to shut up.. I mean to each their own.. But sulfate free is allot better for you then shampoos that are stripping your hair.. Even my stylist recommends sulfate free.. So stfu...
This is totally wrong Sulfate Free shampoo is so much better than regular shampoo and will make your hair cleaner more gently than with Shampoos containing SLS.
I tried a del lorenzo suphate free shampoo and it did not lather and I was disapointed but Iam now using schwartzcopf colour save sulphate free shampoo...it's the basin size and Iam now half way through...very happy with it, it lathers and my hair is clean without stripping my natural oils so thats pretty awesome
By the way, it is proven that over time SLS products can cause cancer. Now adays the chance of getting cancer is 1 out of 3. With that being said I would really ask my self am I going to put myself at a higher risk for cancer just for a product that will produce bubbles?
I haven't used shampoos with sulfates for almost a year and my hair has more body, has grown longer and has less split ends. Unless your using products with serums/oils, you dont need a strong shampoo and even "rinsing your hair with hot water" would be too harsh for the hair. Sodium Laureth Sulfate is only used because it has a foaming effect & is a cheap [detergent]. It is the same thing used to clean garage floors. No matter how dirty the hair is, we would never need something that strong.
I agree I'm AA and I use a lot of products in my hair so when I want all that gel n crap out...I don't mind sulfate shampoos I just use a really good conditioner after words.n I've noticed a lot of ppl spending a lot of money on these shampoos that doesn't clean the hair.but ha..e.w nice video....

@ShimmerKisse I agree and i have been having problems with skin irritation and i started looking at the ingredients of my shampoos and body wash & i had know for 1-2 year that i needed a toothpaste that was sls free as i was getting sores in my mouth after brushing
I mostly use sulfate-free shampoos because my hairdresser turned me onto them because I bleach and dye my hair quite a lot. I disagree when you say it doesn't cleanse my hair, because every time I get out of the shower, my hair is not the least bit greasy, it's quite soft and shiny and healthy. But when I run out of sulfate-free shampoos and am forced to use my sisters extremely cheap shampoos, I notice that my hair doesn't feel nearly as nice as it does when I use sulfate-free.
i watched this video a while ago and decided to try it, i use sulfate free shampoo and conditioner (also silicone free) i washed my greasy hair with warm water and massaged my scalp etc when my hair was dry it was still slightly greasy yet when i use sulfate free shampoo my hair is not greasy when dried, so obviously it does clean hair, in my case!
hi i totally agree with you.and it pisses me off how everyone who used to use sulphate based shampoos probs 20 years of their lives never had a problem but since they heard about sulphate free they are now saying how there hair felt dry and awful when they used to use sulphate based shampoos.i mean come on i've used a few sulphate free ones and your right your hair is stil left v dirty and so not clean.i'll stick to the sulphate based ones.
She is right though, but it all depends on your hair type. For those with normal, healthy, straight hair, they can use whatever. But for those with coarse, frizzy, dry, or damaged hair, sulfate free is the pick. As long as you don't have silicones in your ingredients, you can use sulfate free.
They're actually MUCH better for people with wavy and curly hair. Wavy and curly hair is dryer than stick straight hair and when you use regular shampoo it takes all of the oils out of your hair, including your natural oils (which are necessary for curly and wavy haired people to be able to have those curls and waves)
Sulfate free shampoos are better for the hair, a lot better, if you're worried about body and volume and all that jazz. Rinse your hair with regular shampoo once a month. Cleanse the build-up.
I agree with this video. Sometimes, people are so gullible. Yes there's a lot of flawed or biased information out there, but if you research first, at least you can say that you investigated, instead of just believing what is shown to us through the media.
i disagree. they are made of a substince, and they do clean your hair. just because it lathers doesnt make it cleaner, it really just strips your hair. if you need that many products removed, you're probably using too many anyway.
Personally I have really curly dry hair so I don't use sulfates or silicones. The main purpose of sulfates is to strip the silicones out of your hair, which is what causes buildup. So I don't use conditioners or hair products with silicones in them I don't need to use sulfates and by avoiding them my hair is more moisturized and healthier looking.
I really hate how snarkey the comments are on this video. I've had my doubts about sulfate free shampoos as they seem to tie in with the nonsensical "everything organic" lifestyle. Since people aren't hearing what they wanted to hear they attack you and say you're wrong without providing any evidence themselves, anecdotal evidence aside which doesn't count for anything.
IDK if you're right or not but I'm definitely going to look into it further, thx for the video
I have used sulfate free shampoos for a little over a year now. My hair is the healthiest it has ever been. It feels amazing, soft, and less breakage. I refuse to go back to regular. I TELL everyone to use it and they all love it. It the loreal everpure. It is cheap and works wonders!! I swear buy it!
@OxStephLynn54 This isn't personal, I just want to share with everyone reading your comment that L'Oreal practices cruel and unnecessary animal testing. There are certain tests that are necessary, I realize that, and many companies use all alternative tests available before turning to animals. L'Oreal does not, all for the sake of beauty and vanity. If I can deter just one person from this product, it's worth it. Please have a heart and do not buy from L'Oreal. Thanks.
people this is personal opinion u can use watever u feel like using
just try different shampoos until u feel u found the right one for u
i actually found two that work for me (after 10 million years O.O )and one of them is sulfate free so just experiment :D remember that videos don't give u all the answers cause people's bodies (or hair) react differently
@starsweet4 my personal favorite is herbal essences dangerously straight shampoo and then i have a shampoo from rite aid called chemistry and i like it to kinda give my hair a little treat but i do LOVE their chemistry daily conditioner and thei leave-in conditioner, they leave my hair so soft and shiny . (P.S the daily conditioner works best when u have washed ur hair with the chemistry shampoo which is sulfate free)
U never posted this "proof" for your statement...therefore I'm assuming it's invalid. If sulfate free is gentle on your hair and doesn't completely wash off the natural oils I would say it's better for your hair then because it's recommended to leave the sebrum in your hair that your body naturally produces. Yes, use clarifying shampoo to get build up off as well........I would say that's the only valid part to this video.
im sorry to say this but, you dont know much about sulfate free shampoo's. look up the info. they make sulfate free shampoo too keep the good, natural oils in your hair and take the dirt, and other nasty stuff out. they are much better for you. sulfate shampoo leave your har dry of it's natural oil, shine and softness. They even make sulfate free shampoo that are "cone" free.
you should wear more clothes and what you are saying is totally wrong. Soap can clean your hair and soap is not a sulfate. Things like Vinegar and baking soda and kill bacteria they are also not sulfates.
If I ever went to you to cut my hair I would probably blow my brains out once you opened your mouth. You talk like a ditz & clearly don't know anything about the benefits of sulfate-free shampoos.
By the way, what "sulphate-free" shampoo are you referring to when you say it has chemicals used in it because any sulphate-free shampoo I have seen is certified organic & has NO chemicals in it. That's the whole point, we don't want to put poison on our heads.
@incineratex actually every sulfate-free shampoo (and detergent-based shampoos, not soap-based) contain chemicals, and most are not certified organic.
but i will agree with you that the person who posted this video knows nothing about sulfate-free shampoos and is spreading misinformation
if one has product build up in the hair you will need to lather rince and repeat with most sulfate free shampoos. they also make clairifying sulfate free shampoos. Moroccan Oil shampoo does lather well however.
okay, you might be right because i use giovanni sulfate free shampoo and my hair is never clean afterwords, plus its such a little bottle and they dont fill it up to the top like 12 dollars for one bottle.
@SophiaChar You have to do it twice. Just a little bit the first time just for your scalp. Then a little more for your scalp and the rest of your hair.
@SophiaChar You have to do it twice. Just a little bit the first time just for your scalp. Then a little more for your scalp and the rest of your hair.
people dont seem to get that there is other stuff in your hair than just natural oils that your scalp produces. yes, sulfate-free shampoos get rid of that natural oils, but they cant properly remove styling product leftovers and hair conditioning agents like silicones. so she does have a point. sulfate-free shampoos are still better for your hair, just use a sulfate shampoo every now and then to avoid build-up of stuff like silicones.
I have been trying out a new sulfate free shampoo. I do like the way it left my hair..shiny, full of volume etc..However I feel the same too. I do not feel that it is cleansing my hair at all. I do not use a lot of styling products at all. I'm not one of those people tha wants my hair squeaky clean either but I do want some cleansing properties!..
I did an experiment the other night. I washed my hair with warm water alone, applied my usual styling cream and blow dried.
No I really didn't do that because I knew it would be a waste of time but I do suggest that YOU try it and see that you're incorrect in your assumptions.
Hydroxysultaines don't bind to oils dirt and products they are surfactants that help move and distribute cleansers. The issue with surfactants is they are salts that affect the PH of your hair which turns color.
A lather doesn't mean the hair is getting clean. Sorry, that is the detergent property of sulfates. Sulfates, especially lauryl sulfates strip the hair and are high in alkalinity and raise your hair cuticle, causing more damage than good. Sulfates DO clean your hair better, but that's because you are using basically laundry detergent. Come on, I'm 18 and know better than you as a hairdresser. Research research research. Sorry.
sulfates strip hair of everything, how is that hard to understand? There are natural alternatives that cleanse gently and don't strip out all the natural oils leaving hair dry and frizzy. My shampoo is sulfate free and costs 7 bucks wow it's such an expensive scam they're running, and all the money I save on not buying a ton of products for my hair really is such a pain too.
Thanks for the info. That is why people use the vinager-baking soda mix, to cleanse their hair from build up. I am trying not to become a product junkie or pay for expensive products. If you take or leave something (sulfate) out, why is the product highter priced and you also get less quantity of that product. Maybe someone mentioned this before because I noticed yesterday that the sulfate products were buy 1 get other free or mail-in rebate for free product.
sulfates also break out your skin, try a week with sulfate shampoo and a week without, you will see a difference in your skin and texture of your hair, I am speaking from personal experience. sulfates are rough and they strip the hair.
Considering that most stylists recommend shampooing no more than 2-3 times a week, wouldn't it be good to use SLS free shampoos most of the time, then a clarifying shampoo once a week?
also, all matter is made out of chemicals. it is important to realise that all the ingredients used in cosmetics are the same, whether natural or man-made, including water which is one of the most ‘natural’ substances on earth. whether an ingredient is good or not, depends on the individual ingredient, not the category itself.
@ovidmusic exactly. people dont get that the stuff in natural cosmetics is basically chemicals too, its just that the stuff in it sound better cause they're used to it. it seems to me that people are way too easily impressed by weird names. just because they cant understand what it means (i do) it doesnt mean that its any worse. i mean, no one's afraid of water in hair products, right? guess what... its a chemical substance too! people need to chill out.
@rgur90x We should definitely stop using water then!
Did you hear that people? They stopped making water the old fashion way...
Now they make it out of H2O! That is a chemical substance! Its not normal matter (which is obviosly not made of chemicalls duhh!). Its not natural anymore!
Stop the scientific progress of the world by any means! we may end up living longer and better!
that being said, there is no reason in the first place to use 3 separate cleansing products. using a face cleanser, shower gel, and shampoo is just a commodity, not a necessity. all these products are chemically identical and base their effects on the action of surfactans, the active ingredients that actually clense a surface by forming micelles.
sulfate free is bogus. sulfates are not necessary harsh. the harshness depends solely on which ones are being used. however, sulfate free shampoo simply means it does not contain sulfates ( the most popular being SLES and SLS-this is actually a bad one, head&shoulders uses it), but as long as it still contains other surfactans, non ionic and silicone surfactans are usually the best ( SLES and SLS are anionic), it should be able to cleanse ur hair.
Now does this apply only to caucasian hair or does it go for hispanic and african hair types as well. I know that African does not have much oil in it to begin with therefore removing oils from the hair can strip it.
My hair dresser told me on my last hair cut, that I shouldn't use shampoos because of these reasons and for about two weeks now, my hair is so much nicer and has more volume.
if you really think that sulfate shampoos don't clean your just try a pinch of baking soda. Y es I know it sounds weird, but it actually works. It leaves my hair feeling super clean :)
I think sulfate-free should be used regularly and then once every few weeks use a traditional shampoo to get rid of build up. But some sulfate-free shampoos are ridiculously expensie b/c of special tea tree oils they use. Avoid the expense on those.
i tried sulfate free shampoo for about a month, and let me tell you, sulfate is in the shampoo for a reason. my hair was soooooooo dry, and it's already dry as it is. i tried moisturizing ones, tons of conditioner, but nothing works. even tho shampoo has sulfate in it, it won't be as damaging as if it doesnt because ur hair won't be brittle and dirty
the only thing sulfates do is suds up. it doesn't "break down" anything. sulfates are just used to bubble up. most people think if shampoo suds then it is actually working, when it is just the opposite. you don't know shit. sorry.
the reason am choosing sulfate free shampoo is to help my curly hair it gets too dry from sulfate now am not saying that sulfates are horrible but for me it hurt my hair sooo badly now one and a while i do use a headinshoulds just to clear my hair
Sulfate free shampoos keep my hair really soft and silky. The clarifying shampoo by pureology (sulfate free) leaves my hair squeaky clean......I'm not saying that what you're talking about is wrong, but you just mentioned including some kind of article supporting your theory......I don't see it on here....would u mind posting that?
I appreciate someone who will do their research and tell the truth. It's funny how ppl claim to want the truth and when you tell them the truth they get mad because it's not what they want to hear. I just did a video myself about shampoos and sulfates...and what surprised me is that EVERYTHING that we use on a daily basis like soap, bodywash, and toothpaste all contain the same kind of sulfate. So even if you stop using in on ur hair you're still using it. So what's the point of sulfate-free poo
Um... my pureology shampoo is sulfate free and actually makes my hair feel squeaky clean if I wash twice. It also lathers VERY well and preserves my hair color. Obviously, hot water doesn't do that. I've also experienced what you said happens with other sulfate-free shampoos, so I think it really depends on the brand.
Just like some sulfate shampoos can be harsh on hair. But if people don't want to use cheap baking soda to get rid of build up and would prefer their hair to break off and their hair color to be stripped so they can go to the hair salon again, to get it re-done. Hint Hint, more money in your pockets, then hey, they should go for it lol! It's a recession folks, and although sulfate free shampoos are expensive, there are better ways to clean hair than to use harsh shampoos.
@Isumianka If you do an apple cider vinegar rinse (it doesn't smell like vinegar) then it will do the same thing and rid your hair of any product build up.
But you can easily do that with baking soda! And regular shampoos do a horrible job at preserving your hair color. Why else are there all these sulfate free shampoos? B/c they preserve hair color and they work with all types of hair too, from curly to straight. I don't use shampoos, I do the curly girl method. But I use baking soda to clarify my hair if I have product build up. Just b/c something lathers doesn't mean it's better. Toothpaste lathers too but some toothpastes can be harsh on teeth.
Your thesis sounds biased. No offense, but you didn't say how many years of experience you have as a hairdresser. Anyone can get on youtube and say they're a hairdresser, yet are a novice when it comes to cosmetology. And I've done my research on what trichologists have to say on sulfate free shampoos and all of them say that they are healthier for hair and doesn't strip hair of it's hair color......however, you do need regular shampoos to get rid of silicones and product build up in the hair.
I'm horribly allergic to sulfates (hives and swelling... not so attractive... ) Do you know of any alternatives to sulfates in shampoo for lathering and cleansing of the hair? Thanks for the video!
to be honest I would recommend consulting either your general physician, allergist or a dermatologist serious allergies are not to be messed with and it would help to know the scope of your allergy... without knowing those things I wouldn't want to give you bad advice and cause you to have something bad happen to you
I have tried 2 or 3 completely organic shampoos that have all lathered well and left my hair nice and shiny. Dr Organic, which is a Holland & Barret-only brand is a great option (especially the olive oil shampoo), my FAVORITE so far though is a brand called EVOLVE; it is apple-based and can be used on your hair and body, the ingredients in this product are completely organic so you don't have to worry about ANY chemicals at all!! I hope this helps :)
So what do YOU use? Only curious. I am using Nioxin right now because my hair is very fine... I find that it leaves my hair limp and "sad"... Thanks for this video because I was actually wondering about the sulfate free shampoo by Loreal.
I used WEN for about a year on and off about 5 years ago. My hair felt really good, but it lacked body. I didn't use styling products so I didn't have build up in my hair, but the lack of body and price of the cleansing conditioners caused me to stop using them. Can you do a f/u video with hair cleansers you do recommend? Thanks!
I have been using Sulfate free shampoos and shower gels for a long, long time...my hair looks really pretty (people stop me and comliment my hair several times a day), the salon and spa I got to (it's a high end salon) asked me to be their hair model...they were going to pay dearly...of course I refused. :) My skin isn't dry either...but I don't avoid sulfates because of their "supposed" hair color stripping properties...I avoid any chemicals for health reasons...

J0celyn14 11 months ago 3
@J0celyn14 which two are they?
starsweet4 11 months ago
@starsweet4 my personal favorite is herbal essences dangerously straight shampoo and then i have a shampoo from rite aid called chemistry and i like it to kinda give my hair a little treat but i do LOVE their chemistry daily conditioner and thei leave-in conditioner, they leave my hair so soft and shiny . (P.S the daily conditioner works best when u have washed ur hair with the chemistry shampoo which is sulfate free)
J0celyn14 11 months ago

The one I have cleans my hair? Maybe some dont but the one ive been using does o.O

you should wear more clothes and what you are saying is totally wrong. Soap can clean your hair and soap is not a sulfate. Things like Vinegar and baking soda and kill bacteria they are also not sulfates.
jaleynaziller 1 year ago 2
Holy shit.
That's the whole point, we don't want to put poison on our heads.
incineratex 1 year ago 2
@incineratex actually every sulfate-free shampoo (and detergent-based shampoos, not soap-based) contain chemicals, and most are not certified organic.
but i will agree with you that the person who posted this video knows nothing about sulfate-free shampoos and is spreading misinformation
starsweet4 11 months ago
if one has product build up in the hair you will need to lather rince and repeat with most sulfate free shampoos. they also make clairifying sulfate free shampoos. Moroccan Oil shampoo does lather well however.
ExtensionOfDenim 1 year ago
okay, you might be right because i use giovanni sulfate free shampoo and my hair is never clean afterwords, plus its such a little bottle and they dont fill it up to the top like 12 dollars for one bottle.

@SophiaChar You have to do it twice. Just a little bit the first time just for your scalp. Then a little more for your scalp and the rest of your hair.

Yeah, I knew it wasn't going to actually wash my hair well ):
But since I dye my hair often, I have to use sulfate free :/
Great video!

people dont seem to get that there is other stuff in your hair than just natural oils that your scalp produces. yes, sulfate-free shampoos get rid of that natural oils, but they cant properly remove styling product leftovers and hair conditioning agents like silicones. so she does have a point. sulfate-free shampoos are still better for your hair, just use a sulfate shampoo every now and then to avoid build-up of stuff like silicones.

Reality5870 1 year ago
I did an experiment the other night. I washed my hair with warm water alone, applied my usual styling cream and blow dried.
No I really didn't do that because I knew it would be a waste of time but I do suggest that YOU try it and see that you're incorrect in your assumptions.
Hydroxysultaines don't bind to oils dirt and products they are surfactants that help move and distribute cleansers. The issue with surfactants is they are salts that affect the PH of your hair which turns color.
earthymoon 1 year ago 2
A lather doesn't mean the hair is getting clean. Sorry, that is the detergent property of sulfates. Sulfates, especially lauryl sulfates strip the hair and are high in alkalinity and raise your hair cuticle, causing more damage than good. Sulfates DO clean your hair better, but that's because you are using basically laundry detergent. Come on, I'm 18 and know better than you as a hairdresser. Research research research. Sorry.

"sulfate-free cannot actually CLEAN the hair any better than rinsing with water"
So every shampoo ever made without sulfates uses exactly the same formula and you know every one of them? yeah I bet
honeybomb00 1 year ago
sulfates strip hair of everything, how is that hard to understand? There are natural alternatives that cleanse gently and don't strip out all the natural oils leaving hair dry and frizzy. My shampoo is sulfate free and costs 7 bucks wow it's such an expensive scam they're running, and all the money I save on not buying a ton of products for my hair really is such a pain too.
honeybomb00 1 year ago

Considering that most stylists recommend shampooing no more than 2-3 times a week, wouldn't it be good to use SLS free shampoos most of the time, then a clarifying shampoo once a week?

also, all matter is made out of chemicals. it is important to realise that all the ingredients used in cosmetics are the same, whether natural or man-made, including water which is one of the most ‘natural’ substances on earth. whether an ingredient is good or not, depends on the individual ingredient, not the category itself.
ovidmusic 1 year ago 2
@ovidmusic exactly. people dont get that the stuff in natural cosmetics is basically chemicals too, its just that the stuff in it sound better cause they're used to it. it seems to me that people are way too easily impressed by weird names. just because they cant understand what it means (i do) it doesnt mean that its any worse. i mean, no one's afraid of water in hair products, right? guess what... its a chemical substance too! people need to chill out.
rgur90x 1 year ago
@rgur90x We should definitely stop using water then!
Did you hear that people? They stopped making water the old fashion way...
Now they make it out of H2O! That is a chemical substance! Its not normal matter (which is obviosly not made of chemicalls duhh!). Its not natural anymore!
Stop the scientific progress of the world by any means! we may end up living longer and better!
ovidmusic 1 year ago 4
that being said, there is no reason in the first place to use 3 separate cleansing products. using a face cleanser, shower gel, and shampoo is just a commodity, not a necessity. all these products are chemically identical and base their effects on the action of surfactans, the active ingredients that actually clense a surface by forming micelles.
ovidmusic 1 year ago
sulfate free is bogus. sulfates are not necessary harsh. the harshness depends solely on which ones are being used. however, sulfate free shampoo simply means it does not contain sulfates ( the most popular being SLES and SLS-this is actually a bad one, head&shoulders uses it), but as long as it still contains other surfactans, non ionic and silicone surfactans are usually the best ( SLES and SLS are anionic), it should be able to cleanse ur hair.

BowiesTomboy 1 year ago
if you really think that sulfate shampoos don't clean your just try a pinch of baking soda. Y es I know it sounds weird, but it actually works. It leaves my hair feeling super clean :)
mexcrisp 1 year ago
I think sulfate-free should be used regularly and then once every few weeks use a traditional shampoo to get rid of build up. But some sulfate-free shampoos are ridiculously expensie b/c of special tea tree oils they use. Avoid the expense on those.
kmcl11 1 year ago
i tried sulfate free shampoo for about a month, and let me tell you, sulfate is in the shampoo for a reason. my hair was soooooooo dry, and it's already dry as it is. i tried moisturizing ones, tons of conditioner, but nothing works. even tho shampoo has sulfate in it, it won't be as damaging as if it doesnt because ur hair won't be brittle and dirty
JuleOfficial 1 year ago
the only thing sulfates do is suds up. it doesn't "break down" anything. sulfates are just used to bubble up. most people think if shampoo suds then it is actually working, when it is just the opposite. you don't know shit. sorry.

the reason am choosing sulfate free shampoo is to help my curly hair it gets too dry from sulfate now am not saying that sulfates are horrible but for me it hurt my hair sooo badly now one and a while i do use a headinshoulds just to clear my hair
Kkcrash 1 year ago 3
Sulfate free shampoos keep my hair really soft and silky. The clarifying shampoo by pureology (sulfate free) leaves my hair squeaky clean......I'm not saying that what you're talking about is wrong, but you just mentioned including some kind of article supporting your theory......I don't see it on here....would u mind posting that?
MissIrene85 1 year ago 6
I appreciate someone who will do their research and tell the truth. It's funny how ppl claim to want the truth and when you tell them the truth they get mad because it's not what they want to hear. I just did a video myself about shampoos and sulfates...and what surprised me is that EVERYTHING that we use on a daily basis like soap, bodywash, and toothpaste all contain the same kind of sulfate. So even if you stop using in on ur hair you're still using it. So what's the point of sulfate-free poo
Nikki30263 1 year ago
Um... my pureology shampoo is sulfate free and actually makes my hair feel squeaky clean if I wash twice. It also lathers VERY well and preserves my hair color. Obviously, hot water doesn't do that. I've also experienced what you said happens with other sulfate-free shampoos, so I think it really depends on the brand.
tigrrlilli 2 years ago 4
Just like some sulfate shampoos can be harsh on hair. But if people don't want to use cheap baking soda to get rid of build up and would prefer their hair to break off and their hair color to be stripped so they can go to the hair salon again, to get it re-done. Hint Hint, more money in your pockets, then hey, they should go for it lol! It's a recession folks, and although sulfate free shampoos are expensive, there are better ways to clean hair than to use harsh shampoos.
Isumianka 2 years ago 5
@Isumianka If you do an apple cider vinegar rinse (it doesn't smell like vinegar) then it will do the same thing and rid your hair of any product build up.
iiSOCLUMSY 1 year ago 4
But you can easily do that with baking soda! And regular shampoos do a horrible job at preserving your hair color. Why else are there all these sulfate free shampoos? B/c they preserve hair color and they work with all types of hair too, from curly to straight. I don't use shampoos, I do the curly girl method. But I use baking soda to clarify my hair if I have product build up. Just b/c something lathers doesn't mean it's better. Toothpaste lathers too but some toothpastes can be harsh on teeth.
Isumianka 2 years ago 2

Thanks for the video!
gealach7788 2 years ago
to be honest I would recommend consulting either your general physician, allergist or a dermatologist serious allergies are not to be messed with and it would help to know the scope of your allergy... without knowing those things I wouldn't want to give you bad advice and cause you to have something bad happen to you

@gealach7788 what, u eat the stuff? because it's not caused by Sodium laureth sulfate.
check your toothpaste: it's also in there.

@gealach7788 I am allergic to sulphates too!
