Superb cutting. You ought to be able to pull off some double cuts with any of those blades. I've heard that the Brescia Spadona has a secondary bevel edge; if that's true it cuts very well for having one.
I've managed to cut double and triple rolled mugen dachi mats with the Brescia, but the triple just barely and I will never do it again.
The Brescia's "secondary edge bevel" is nothing of the sort, it is an aspect of its blade geometry (and naturally that of the original) and that "bevel" is one of the reasons it is such a superb cutter.
Thanks for the reply. By "double cuts" I actually meant making a single cut on a mat and then cutting the portion now separated from the main part of the mat in half before it falls to the ground. I was suggesting that the handling qualities of the swords should be adequate for such trick cuts, but then again I've yet to cut with a sword myself and could indeed be wrong.
Oh, okay. To do that we would need a better cutting stand...one that does not wobble quite as much. :)
People tend to do more of those cuts with double mats (two mats in one target) as these have more friction and more easily stay in place. I'll give it a shot next time.
