@iluvmorrissey It's not having a pop - it's actually complimenting him. It's writtten from the point of view of a poor guy who can't match his girlfriend's high, Morrissey-inspired, expectations. Very funny.
Ahh, Sparks...apart from their music, song-writing and general sense of style and originality, they are the undisputed kings of song titles. Every one of their albums features at least one that makes me laugh out loud. ("I Thought I Told You To Wait In The Car" being my favourite). Other goodies: "Now That I Own The BBC", "What Are All These Bands So Angry About?", "Angst In My Pants", "Gratuitous Sax & Senseless Violins". Bless 'em.
BlackRainGraffiti, I've just read your ignorant idiotic comment, and then I checked your profile: you are 17 years of age. No need for further comment is there?
Thank God for Sparks! In a world of pathetic 'gangsta' posturing and manufactured moronic crap they are still a breath of fresh air - clever, witty and funny like pop music's supposed to be.
"She won't go out with me..cause my intellect's paper thin.. since my intellect's not like him, so lighten up Morrissey.
"She won't hang out with me..til my biting wit bites like his..til my quick retort's quick as his, so lighten up Morrissey.
"She won't have sex with me..less it's done with a pseudonym..she won't do sport wih me..says it's way too masculine, look at him, so lighten up Morrissey.
..If only Morrissey weren't so Morrisseyesque she might overlook all my flaws."
Yes they are friends and Morrisssey is actually a fan and was influenced by Sparks first. After all Sparks was making music a long time before Morrissey was.
There was some controversy about this song over it being a jibe at Morrissey. If you listen to the lyrics it's not attacking him, but rather a girl who is so obsessed with him she constantly compares a fawning male who wants her as his girlfriend to him. In fact, Sparks and Morrissey are the best of friends in real life.
Saw them live performing this. Not only do they sound as brilliant as they do on the album, they seem to be able to just command everyone listening to suddenly be elated. Sparks are amazing.
Funny song! I love Moz and (or should I write despite? ;)) really like this song. I think he'd find this funny, too. I should check out more Sparks stuff!
yeah buy the album and support one of the best ever underrated pop acts in the history of rock also if you like this you will flip a tit over 2006s hello young lovers or angst in my pants or 1974s kimono my house
I'm so excited! This is brilliant! I bought Kimono 6 weeks ago and now I own all 21 of their records. I'm glad I didn't get into them during their "dance" music phase in the 90's. This song is perfect!
speaking as someone who has got every album i think this is the best track they've done since some of those on gratuitous sax. boys, release this as a single and get back in the charts
I can't wait for the album. I'm looking forward to seeing "Propaganda" and "Indiscreet" next week. I was going to limit myself to three nights (I got "Plagiarism" as it's like seeing a best of) but this is such a good song that I must really get to the last night.
oh, i am so jealous of you! i WISH i could go see those 3 shows...but i cant even afford to fly over to the uk to see any of the shows! i wish sparks would do shows like that in the us! as it is, ive only seen them once...summer of 2003 in central park nyc! amazing show!
Great song, so is "Good Morning". Can't wait to hear the rest of the new album and see Sparks in London. It's gonna be a good year for us Sparks fans.
Me second! I live in Sweden and I've been bugging all my friends to come with me to London and see them, but not one of them have the money, time or the interest. And it's to scary to go to London all by myself, haha.
But if I'm lucky I'll be able to see them in Finland, yay!
Brilliant.

Never really been bothered enough about Sparks to investigate their stuff although i've always known OF them and Mozzer being a fan.
This is a great song anyway. I guess it's an affectionate joke to him. It sounds great anyway.
