The fact is if you ask any real singer or vocal instructor they'll tell you that LaBrie is an impressive singer. He's got a solid 3 and a half octaves (Eb2 to A5) and that is no easy feat no matter what anyone says, and beyond that he maintains powerful vibrato and vocal control up into the highest notes.yes he has had times when he doesn't sound so great but that's due to medical issues and does not have to do with his singing by itself. You may not like his style, but that doesn't make him bad

@ArcAngelRyan By all means there is no song in Dream theater I hate, I honestly can't say this and I could tell you my favorites to listen to on repeat and thats about it. Which would be... Rise the Knife, Under glass moon, Another day, Innocence faded, After Life, Another won, Pull me under, Hollow years (budokan version). Hell I could listen to all of them. Been a DT fan for 11+ years and still have yet made it to a concert but be assured I will this year!

@TheLenity909090 that's fine. a lot of DT fans will eat up anything DT puts out. DT is my favorite band but i dont let that compromise my taste. The fact of the matter is that DT is first and foremost a progressive metal band. This song is a stupid pop song that is a BAD song. If i want to listen to dumb pop songs ill go and listen to U2, not a ridiculous DT knock off of a style that they arent even experts of. They are masters of progressive metal. thats what they do best.

@BOOLsheet I don't think it's at all like a pop song; I am a DT fan and I love everything they do for a reason. The meaning of their song; walking beside a friend no matter what happens; this song is talking about being a friend. Obviously they have had WAY better songs; but that does not mean this song is dumb because it isn't. It has an important and relevant meaning which makes it amazing. And I' m sorry; the musicians of DT can be experts in anything they want, that's how badass they are ;)

@TheLenity909090 Stylistically, this is EXACTLY a pop song. The meaning of the song is irrelevant. The style of the song is pop rock. Didn't they even say that this was influenced by U2? I'm not talking about the meaning of the song. The musicians in DT are extraordinary, but that doesn't mean they can do any style at the same level. If the drum auditions taught us anything, it's that you can be an amazing player and not fit well into a particular style. This is a bad pop song.
