@chevyredneckgal3 Its sad when the ER gets so many drug seekers, and while you are taking your time trying to assist a drug seeker, someone in need of HFOV, or in need of ECMO is in the other bed dying, and you're stuck with the drug seeker who just wants to get high on 15mtg of morphine.
I used to work with a kid who would put phenyl patches on and them put a heat pad over it. His excuse was that the brain naturally produces opiates so its ok to use them. I wish I was joking.
Im 29 and living with chronic pain at a young age from severe Chrones disease. Nearly all of the doctors I've seen insist that I cant possibly be in chronic pain since Im only 29. It really pisses me off and I just want to go off on the next doctor I see that gives me that line of bullshit. Im NOT an addict and Im NOT a drug seeker, I just want relief from my pain. Maybe one day I'll find a doctor that believes me. Anyone out there got any suggestions?
@dfdemt This video is talking about someone complaining of fake chest pain for drugs. Which is completely different than someone with "Chrones" (I'm guessing you mean crohn's)
I've been living with chronic pain for over ten years. I'm never not in pain. The intensity can vary, but it's always there. To all the drug seekers in this thread, I say SCREW YOU! It's a-holes like you that make people doubt those of us who really are suffering. To the medical professionals, thank you so much for what you do. If you get a drug seeker complaining of back pain, hook them up to a TENS unit. I swear by mine.
Honestly, I know it sounds horrible but I'm so tired of being threatened at work that if a drug seeker doesn't get their diluadid they're going to sue the hospital and report the nurses. Have all the diluadid you want. It really pisses me off to see all you drug seekers commenting on this video and laughing about how easily you manipulate ER docs to give you pain meds and take time away from sick patients. I hope you OD on diluadid.
Truth is, this goes on every day. Sadly, it takes away from the care and attention of truly sick patients. It's frustrating for the nurse because we cannot "judge pain," knowing we would rather be in with the dying patient in the next room with a few hours left to live.
Friday, If adults took "whatever drugs they wanted," there would be even more lawsuits because those adults cannot take responsibility for their own decisions.
see it's videos like this that give people with real pain a bad name. I used to get mind blowingly painful tooth aches from sinus pressure building up behind my polyps...I was pretty much accused of being a drug seeker by certain physician assistants. I got the meds, because my blood pressure was high and they could tell I was in that much pain...then ya get these docs who frigging hook you up with dilaudid IV and you don't even need it and you tell them that but they make you take it anyways
There is this huge hippocracy going on in the U.S. I can't buy pseudo-ephedrine, ephedrine, albuterol, or codeine without a prescription, but doctors will readily prescribe me stimulants and depressants, and anti-depressants without even considering drug interactions or the fact I have stomach and liver problems. Also, when I was in the E.R. once, they were about to give me 1 mg of dilaudid without even telling me, considering I weight 120 lb, and had depressants in my system, and sleep deprived
@mostliberal Uh, that's not true. You can get pseudoephedrine over the counter, but it is stored behind the counter and you must sign for it and show ID.
@ontariobuds are you joking, dilaudid is one of the strongest meds ever, its so much more powerfull then zanex, oxycontin etc if you take atleast 2 mg, you will be fucked up soo much
I'm a drug seeker haha...I hope to God I've never been this obvious. Sorry to any nurse or other E.R. staff that is reading this, I know we make your job hard, but some times this is our only option, or so our addictions make us believe.
brkirk - a friend recently went to ER with excruciating pain. With her disease she is already on strong narcotics. She actually wanted someone to give her a urine test and prescribe her an antibiotic. When they took her history and found out she was on strong narcotics she was labeled a drug seeker without listening to her complaint, spoken to rudely and told to get out of the ER before they called the police on her. THAT is why you get yelled at by chronic pain patients.
What I don't get is why do trolls have to ruin the humor in the videos posing incoherrent ramblings about identifying drug seekers or how all healthcare providers think everyone is a drug seeker? GET THE F*CK OUT OF HERE! Ok that felt better :)
I don't make assumptions about anyone's condition - I live in what politicians call a "drug town", and I have seen drug seekers of all ages, races, and creeds, male and female come into the ER. It's depressing, and infuriating, and frustrating, and I, for one, think that sometimes you have to laugh at the situation, or risk burning out very, very quickly. Instead of getting angry, try letting it go. No one's forcing anyone to watch videos they hate. Move on.
This is meant to be funny, get a grip people. Most of the time it's the addicts that get all "offended". Lol, I'm a RN and this happens a lot. All the nurses and other docs/healthcare professions think this is hilarious!
Swallowing dilaudid is a huge waste; i've taken 64mg orally and didn't feel anything; my withdrawals were gone, but no high. I typically shoot 8mg dilaudids which I get for $10 - 15, but when i'm broke a quarter pill 2mg dose is enough to rid withdrawals. I suppose I really don't get high from any dose anymore, besides the IV rush which I feel with as little as maybe 1.5 mg, but I've done 24mg IV'd before which was amazing. Took two syringes cause it wouldn't all dissolve in 1cc
"I have given bitches like this a total of 10mg of Dilaudid within two hours (this is a massive dose) and they went from a pain level "10" (1-10 scale) to an "8"."
Dilaudid has a 1:6 oral to intravenous ratio and that's typically why addicts love it so much. In the US they are distributed as 2/4/8mg pills, and pills are always given orally. Addicts can abuse this and support their entire opiate habit with a single dilaudid script.
I don't like these videos. For one, 'drug seekers' wouldn't BE there if the ER docs hadn't given them the drugs to begin with. Seekers have to start somewhere. They went in with a legitimate concern, and possibly got addicted due to the ER and PCP prescriptions, not street drugs. So the 'problem' isn't the patients seeking care; it's the doctors who introduced the drugs to begin with. And then instead of TREATING the people you hooked, you make fun of them. We need a health care OVERHAUL.
@Tracey081 I Totally disagree. Tons of people take narcotics for pain while in the hospital and never ever get addicted. Lots of people actually choose not to take them. People choose the paths they take in life. If they want to be a low-life who goes to the ED on a Friday night to get their fix, they chose that. A doctor didn't do that to them.
@Tracey081 Your logic is so terribly flawed it's not even funny. You cannot seriously tell me with a straight face that every single person who is opiate-dependent got that way because doctors gave them opiates. Are you meaning to tell me that NO ONE has ever tried them because a friend or a dealer offered them? Or because they saw a prescription for someone else and decided to nab a few? You have GOT to be kidding me.
@bradenwoodburnsucks From what I've seen, experience. I work in a teaching hospital in a drug town, and i work with med students, residents, and attending physicians in the ER. It's kind of weird to see the eager little med students working next to the angry, cynical attendings.
i love the condemnation of junkies, especially since there seems to be a consensus that addiction is a disease with a very high genetic correlation. docs are the number one reason for opioid addiction. this industry is a racket. and im quite sure the patient is probably a nurse at another facility. we need to make one about people who are depressed and obese. the best medicine in the world? uh no. cuba has a better track record of keeping babies alive than the united states.
people like that need to just OD on something already. get rid of all these drug abusers. if they are addicted, it's nobody's fault but their own. they make stuff more expensive for people who are actually in need.
I work with the public. This is so true it's hysterical!!! The funniest part is the stupid people who think you're making fun of people with legitimate issues vs the system dependent personality disordered who suck the resources up in the vacuum of their self centered worlds. Can you do one for Police Officers and/ or social workers? They deal with some of the most ignorant morons who seem amazed when others have to intervene because they have no basic logic or reasoning skills.
Lol I love crazy drug seeking stories, Ive heard some from my stupid teen counter parts too though about how the doctor wouldn't give them 24MG of Opana ER for there broken pinky... ah but Ive been at the business end of doctors who are used to this. Got chronic pain from crohns so if it gets bad I go and make sure everythings alright, I just make sure not to demand dilaudid barely in the door in some over kill dose lmao.
This video is so true. I agree with "sickle cell pain" but when taken back, the first thing they want is food, or pillow and blanket then pain med and then food again, I just don't get it.
I have given bitches like this a total of 10mg of Dilaudid within two hours (this is a massive dose) and they went from a pain level "10" (1-10 scale) to an "8".
@Steph11love Overwhelmingly women (about 80%) Perhaps some male "would be" drug seekers are more stoic with me (since I am male). Or maybe women think I am a sucker for their charms.
First off I want to say kudos to the guys/girls that make these videos!! I'm a nurse and I find these videos very amusing. Whoever writes ANY negative comments about them has obviously never worked in a healthcare setting. If anyone wants to know what nurses and doctors do every day, take a look at these videos! They pretty much sum it all up. No lie.
Well, I always milk doctors for narcs, but at least I do it politely and do plenty of research beforehand. There are plenty of conditions that cause chronic pain that there are absolutely zero diagnostic tests for. Just look up the symptoms, describe them to a tee, and maybe leave one or two out so you don't look too obvious. And of course, always be absolutely delightful and courteous and very, very slick.
i love vicodin percocet oxycontin opana morphine etc.... and i love abusing the system to get high!! theres nothing you can do. hahahahhaha!!! i get 150 percocets a month, 200 dollars in foodstamps a month, free interent, and free cell phone. its a good life for me!!! lol heheheheh..
OBVIOUSLY YOU ER DOCTORS HAVE NO RESPECT FOR YOUR PATIENTS. SO WHAT IF SOME PEOPLE DONT HAVE INSURANCE, AND HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO COME TO THE ER FOR TREATMENT. DO YOU ACTUALLY THINK WE ENJOY WAITING NINE HOURS TO BE TREATED LIKE CRIMINALS ON TRIAL? YOU PEOPLE ARE HORRIBLE, WHATS WRONG WITH YOU? IF YOU HATE YOUR JOB SO MUCH, PLEASE DO THE WORLD A FAVOR AND GET INTO A NEW LINE OF WORK. PEOPLE SHOULDNT HAVE TO SUFFER BECAUSE YOU DOCTORS ARE SO JADED AND DONT BELIEVE ANYONE SUFFERS PAIN.
I had several of these losers wasting my time today! I cant take care of the REAL patients because the addicts are taking up space and being rude and abusive to the staff. I'm happy to see that the physicians are no longer giving out the narcotic prescriptions like they have in the past. I'm also happy to see the hospitals doing drug testing on patients BEFORE they get anything for their "pain". We know who's lying now!

@gwbian08 I am probably known as a "frequent flier". I have bad stomach pain sometimes. I've gone to the er and gotten the pain meds in the past. That is not the only reason I go, but it has turned into something that I would be lying if I said I did not look forward to it when my stomach hurts and throbs. And they still help and care for me. No matter how much I probably irk their flesh.
I got sent home from the ER three times this summer (3 days in a row) because they thought I was drug seeking. Two days later, I was on life support because of the idiotic doctors.
I have worked in e ER for years and yes while things almost this bad happen each day, I don't like that in each of these videos it is a woman who is the drug seeker. We actually have a lot of men who do this as well. Women's pain and symptoms are often under diagnosed and ignored and these video just reinforce the attitude all women are faking for drugs. Men on the other hand seem to be given whatever they ask for no questions asked because certainly a man would lie about pain or symptoms.
@MattyE1987 i used a woman character b/c i like the voices better. anyone, male or female can be an annoying pt. for the record, all you getting your panties in a bunch about these videos...obviously there are people out their that suffer from chronic pain and it can be quite debilitating, any healthcare provider can recognize that. however, those wouldn't be very funny videos. these videos provide comic relief to fellow healthcare providers that deal w/ this stuff every day. chill out.
ACTUALLY, THEY'RE IGNORANT AND REINFORCE THE STEREOTYPE THAT ALL PAIN PATIENTS ARE DRUG SEEKERS. PAIN IS UNDERTREATED IN THIS COUNTRY. MAYBE YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND WHY WE'RE PISSED ABOUT THESE VIDEOS IF YOU HAD TO LIVE A DAY LET ALONE SEVERAL YEARS IN OUR SHOES OF GOING WITHOUT PAIN MEDICATION AND LIVING IN AGONY DAY IN AN DAY OUT BECAUSE DOCTORS LIKE YOU WONT TREAT US. GET IN A NEW LINE OF WORK. I FEEL SORRY FOR YOUR PATIENTS YOU PRICK.
@bradenwoodburnsucks I think pain killers will eventually CAUSE pain (via withdrawal) and it's a vicious cycle, but ITA the ER docs are in no position to make fun of drug seekers — there'd be no 'habit' without the doctors. I don't live with pain but I've seen a family member become a seeker after a surgery, and the ER docs dehumanize her, then shoot her full of the drugs anyway. The ER staff is fully culpable for this trend; I can't believe they'd flaunt their negligence with with videos.
@MattyE1987 Why in the hell would someone make an issue about computer generated sexism? If you want to complain, complain about the fact that women kill their children and it's almost automatically excused as "post pardum depression" Now give me some drugs for the headache you just gave me!
@MattyE1987 I don't think Britt is trying to diminish the fact that some people have genuine debilitating pain. I also don't think she is portraying an ER visit. This is clearly floor nursing...and friggin' hilarious, because it's so accurate. Love it, Britt. Hemorrhoid and Valium is even BETTER! Floor nursing is grueling and can drive us nuts...this is a great way to express some frustration without breaking a HIPAA law. LOL!!
Actually they say: I have 20/10 headache, I'm allergic to vicodin, percocet, morphine, demerol. After 4 mg of dilaudid; My headache is 19.99. I need propofol.
@dmanagua OK. Tell me your waight please. I'm gonna start you on 50 of propofol and will let you rest in ICU on an NPB840 CMV with some pancuronium to paralyze you so you won't try to fight the ventilator. Its a common thing people do cause the tube is uncomfortable and it makes you gas.
It's funny because doctors are the ones who get these patients addicted to these drugs. Doctors hand these prescriptions out like the pills are candy and this is what happens.
actually this is an accurate depiction of some people who drive your same roads, vote and have kids that go to the same school yours might...scary huh?
@Correctivemind This is how patients come into the hospital. This patient is obviously a drug seaker who has learned that anyone who comes into the hospital can pretty much get whatever they want by describing some random pain somewhere, then get admitted and get large amounts of strong pain meds pretty much whenever they wish.
And as you saw here, it's not the drs who have to deal with the patients. It's the nurses.
This is so true. Did this the other night. The guy was allergic to morphine and nitro. But the 2mg Q4 dilaudid worked well. Needless to say, his EKG was NSR, and trops and cath were negative.

HERE IS HOW TO RECOGNIZE A DRUG SEEKER, DO NOT BE CONNED!!!
-patient knows about their condition
-patient knows medications by name
-patient is dressed nice or dressed sloppy
-patient claims current pain rx is not helping
-patient claims to be in pain
-patient expects to be treated for their pain
-patient does not understand that opiates are the devil, and should be illegal
-patient can prove their condition, but chooses not to get invasive surgery instead of pain killers
-patient has a pulse

I have given bitches like this a total of 10mg of Dilaudid within two hours (this is a massive dose) and they went from a pain level "10" (1-10 scale) to an "8".
texbear21 1 year ago
@texbear21 Just women? What about guys? Don't they have male "frequent fliers"?
Steph11love 1 year ago
@Steph11love Overwhelmingly women (about 80%) Perhaps some male "would be" drug seekers are more stoic with me (since I am male). Or maybe women think I am a sucker for their charms.
texbear21 1 year ago
@texbear21 btw: 0.25 to 0.5mg is a standard incremental dose for most people.

No lie.
10Iseevols 1 year ago
As a Nurse I find these videos hilarious, and often close to my own personal daily work experience.

Lord it sure is nice to be normal. This pain stuff seems scary.
sclay12345 1 year ago
Well, I always milk doctors for narcs, but at least I do it politely and do plenty of research beforehand. There are plenty of conditions that cause chronic pain that there are absolutely zero diagnostic tests for. Just look up the symptoms, describe them to a tee, and maybe leave one or two out so you don't look too obvious. And of course, always be absolutely delightful and courteous and very, very slick.

@janicew1955 I would probably blame drug seekers first for making it so doctors can't even trust their patients...

MattyE1987 1 year ago
@MattyE1987 i used a woman character b/c i like the voices better. anyone, male or female can be an annoying pt. for the record, all you getting your panties in a bunch about these videos...obviously there are people out their that suffer from chronic pain and it can be quite debilitating, any healthcare provider can recognize that. however, those wouldn't be very funny videos. these videos provide comic relief to fellow healthcare providers that deal w/ this stuff every day. chill out.
brkirk00 1 year ago 36
@brkirk00
"comic relief to fellow healthcare providers"
I FEEL SORRY FOR YOUR PATIENTS YOU PRICK.
bradenwoodburnsucks 10 months ago
@bradenwoodburnsucks I think pain killers will eventually CAUSE pain (via withdrawal) and it's a vicious cycle, but ITA the ER docs are in no position to make fun of drug seekers — there'd be no 'habit' without the doctors. I don't live with pain but I've seen a family member become a seeker after a surgery, and the ER docs dehumanize her, then shoot her full of the drugs anyway. The ER staff is fully culpable for this trend; I can't believe they'd flaunt their negligence with with videos.
Tracey081 10 months ago
@brkirk00 I'll bet there are more Chronic Pain sufferrers who don't think these videos are so f***ing funny.
Why don't you have some humane respect?

LOL!!

PathofReason 2 years ago
@Correctivemind This is how patients come into the hospital. This patient is obviously a drug seaker who has learned that anyone who comes into the hospital can pretty much get whatever they want by describing some random pain somewhere, then get admitted and get large amounts of strong pain meds pretty much whenever they wish.
And as you saw here, it's not the drs who have to deal with the patients. It's the nurses.
