  • OH! and when learning a new song to cover, especially one like this, how do you remember all these complex parts, i mean, run through one part over and over, or just listen to the song over and over and over? XD

  • MAN!! this is amazing! i am thoroughly impressed :D what cymbal setup you got going on?!

  • no btbam covers?

  • You do know that charging for your transcripts is illegal, right?

  • absolutely amazing... finally givin muscle heads a good rap on drums to! subscribed!

  • nvm haha demon drive eliminators.. expensive pedal

  • what double bass pedals are you using?

  • @MrDrummerkid13 demon drives mate. check the links in the description

  • crazy !!!

  • Is that an HHX O-zone on a 19" Paragon china?

  • @SelfReflexivity yes mate check the description

  • Troy im gonna find out who keeps dislikin your shit and im gonna fuck them up.

  • @CowboyIncredible haha each to their own mate!

  • Hi just cant belive you are my drums teacher at school

  • Hey Troy are you in a band? You're fucking awesome man!

  • First drummer I see covering this genre who actually uses his left foot on the hi-hat pedal! It's better than to just leave it idle on the left bass pedal, good work :)

  • @therwbrman I dont like seeing drummer rest their left foot much either. I can't play much without my left foot moving all over the place haha

  • I was always under the impression that these drum parts were impossible to follow.

  • How anyone can dislike this drum porn is a mystery :D

  • you play this tune better than navene, dude. absolutely amazing

  • Where can I get the song without the drums, you know to cover it, like you did

  • @argentinarule i didn't have the song without the drums.. i simply mixed by drums slightly louder than the track

  • @wrightdrums Another question: what are those black things in your floor tom and your snare drum? something like dampeners or sth like that? Where did you bought them then?

  • @argentinarule good ol fashion gaffa tape my friend

  • @wrightdrums Thanks, I have them too, just checking if I find something fancier ahaha

  • @wrightdrums You're so good you can't tell the other drums are there :D

  • Kinda like my Pearl set up, minus the two extra Cymbols.

  • tabarnac..!!!

  • @platinum10000 tabarnac certain!

  • @FatFuckRecherche hahaha

  • You seriously deserve to be the new drummer in Animals as Leaders! You're playing is tighter than Navene's :D

  • woow man! you're awesome! :D have you thought about covering some mastodon?

  • u look like a whiter ronny from jersey shore

  • I love the cover, but can you turn the kick up in your next cover?

  • ps i dig the snare head.. what are you using?

  • This shit is insane man

  • fuckin' A bro

  • Your drums sounds fucking great

  • Sick setup.

  • Great playing! btw is that chad smith holy china you're using?

  • Bravo on using the ozone to create a stack (and of course on the phenomenal performance!!). What is the bottom cymbal?

  • That Holy China is amazing. Must have one.

  • holy china :)

  • dude freaking sick cover. what kind of head are you using on your snare drum ?

  • @Represent613 It's a clear Remo CS ambassador

  • man do you have any solo stuff or are you in a band.

  • jersey shore?

  • video is about to start. hope its good. im gonna shit my pants

  • Finally someone who can play great but doesnt look like a complete douche like luke holland while playing.

  • Just to think what this vid would be like in 3D

  • if youd have his the camera at 0:15 id have pissed myself :L

  • 2:57 That's arm muscle for ya!

  • quick question how did u stack ur stack like tht i.e what hardware did u use as i plan getting one and ur stack is probably the best one i've seen and heard

  • Comment removed

  • i love you man

  • another legit cover bro keep up the great work, much respect man

  • That's a killer sounding snare.

  • just got yourself a sub

  • You make it look so easy.

  • Can i get somewhere those drum transcriptions?

  • @ricardoieci yes it can be found in the first link in the description

  • Gotta love that snare :D

  • Absolutely insane drumming, i first saw your video of the obZen Album Medley and was instantly hooked. subbed and looking forward to more video's, they are the hgihest quality drumming videos i have ever seen. Awesome job!

  • @nickfulenwider I agree, this is some top quality stuff! You should also check out mdterps1042 here on youtube though, he's got the most flawless cover of "Do Not Go Gently' I've ever seen.

  • @EuMilo I have also seen his work! An amazing player

  • Woah!This is Insane!!!

I've noticed you changed your stock Demon Drive beaters.I've seen a lot of drummers do the same.Any specific reason?Because I've been wanting to get new beaters for my Demon Drives.

    Advice?

  • @ajdrummer13 The stock felt beaters get cut down quite quick.. The hard demon beaters in my opinion are too heavy and seem to destroy anything they hit.. I feel the quad beaters offer a perfect medium

  • @wrightdrums Could you do a Cover Of Tool - Rosetta Stoned? Atomship - Whitfield? Tesseract - April, Epiphany, Periphery - Light? those songs are particularly hard.

  • you are awesome!

  • Your snare sounds amazing!!! =)Top drumming!

  • How do you like the Chad Smith china?

  • @BubbleRapOwns I like it. Still love the paragon more tho

  • The best drum beats are based around the toms. Agree or disagree?

  • Can u tell me which audio interface u use?

  • Hey Troy I got a question. Section A are you leading all the kick patterns with your right foot?

    for example (3)e+a(4) = (3)RLR(4)... and (+)a2(e) = (+)RL(e)

I was trying to keep my right foot on down beats and left of e's and a's, but I looks like you don't in the video. I've been practicing the lessons form the Bleed video, and doing left foot leading. Anyway, what do you suggest?

  • @gorgoroth777 for all fragmented kick patterns like this song always start them on your right foot. check out my page: wrightdrums(.)com/transcripts-covers/ and go the the meshuggah new millennium transcript.. that's a good example and song to practice with to lead with the right for these types of patterns. They all start with the right foot. Hope that helps mate

  • @wrightdrums perfect! that really helps. only took me about an hour to get that first 5 bars >:(

  • That.

    Was.

    Amazing.

    Cheers from Poland :)

  • Love you videos, best sounding drumset I've ever heard.

  • maaaan your drums/cymbals sound incredible!

  • Gotta say dude, this is one of the better drum covers on screwtube. Good damn work. Thumbs bro!

  • Who knew Ronnie from Jersey Shore was good at drums?

  • man, record an inamorata drum cover, PLASE!!!

  • how do you get your toms to sound like that?

  • great cover. what snare drum is that? sounds great

  • RAHHHN!

    Ron :D

  • @chcskater610 LOL glad i read the comments before repeating

  • Great sounding man! glad to see such awesomeness!

  • How do u tune your snare, can explain?, thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • dirty

  • DRUMMING PAR EXCELLENCE!!!!! greetz from germany...;-)

  • Heard of the band, seem only a few clips of them on Youtube, so I'm not a good judge of how well you played this tune. But regardless of that fact, your drummer is absolutely fantastic!

  • I'm sure you get a ton of recommendations and requests, but one prog drummer to another, check out the faceless. they're sure to provide a good challenge not only to your independence and technical proficiency but to your speed and stamina. I play a lot of progmetal, mostly meshuggah, periphery, and protest the hero, and these guys just give me hell. if you want a song to statr with, i'd recommend the ancient covenant.

  • best drummer on youtube..... by miles.

  • Damn, i wish i could afford that gear

  • Fucking impressive coordination, dude!

  • Haha! Dislikes..

  • Is that a homemade stack? If it is, wich cymbals are you using?

  • @FearAbsence (from description) its a HHX ozone crash over paragon china

  • you are a beast on drums!

  • Can you do a video on ghost notes?

  • beast moooddee.

  • ONLY 33.000 VIEWS?????????? whats wrong with people/?

  • TOOL PLEASE!

  • sick man! very well done. just a heads up though, you misspelled your website URL in the video intro...just a heads up for next time incase you use a template or something.

  • That was fucking brilliant. You hit everything spot on!!

  • Hey man. I was interested in getting buying your notation of this song. and maybe some meshuggah stuff. A month ago or so you had it posted on your website, but now its gone. Will you put it back up soon?

  • @gorgoroth777 They're all back up now mate. Cheers

  • What is your stax ?? :D Sounds awesome :D

  • @TheDieselAngel Pretty sure he's using the HHX Ozone Crash 18" on top and the Paragon China 19" on bottom

  • my god you are incredible man, please never stop.

  • Your videos are amazing! can you tell me how you did the intro of your videos (with the lines)?

  • Yeah, I subscribed. Couldn't help it. You're way too good to just pass.

  • That stack sounds so amazing!

  • Outrageously good stuff. If I played drums 10 hours a day for a couple of months, I could play like this

  • Wow! Awesome playing. Thanks for introducing me to Animals As Leaders, I now have their albums on repeat. I hope there's more AAL covers to come.

  • 3:11 through 3:40 seems so painful

  • Beastly drumming, beastly neck vein. Haha.

  • These videos are killer dude, I can reassure you these are doing some good for the drumming community! But please tell me, what cameras are you using?

  • @SamWerrell Thanks man, all listed here wrightdrums com/gear/

  • Wow, stunning cover! I was blown away with your effortless technique; please explain how you became so smooth, especially with the ghost notes on the left hand! Did you work from a book or just practise for hours?

  • fucking AWESOME!!!!

  • Fuckin' awesome, man!!!

  • I have a feeling that your making an AAL medley, wondering if its true/eta.

  • Wow! Nice cymbal stacking. What sizes are they with the sabian ozone?

  • When Mr Mansoor program this he must of felt bad for whatever drum was going to have to try to pull this off live every night. You killed it man!

  • You are insane man, excellent work

  • what program do i need to run your transcripts?

  • why are there dislikes?

  • Troy your a monster and deserve all of Luke Hollands views.

  • is that holy china good at all? cuz from what ive heard of it its not as good as its reputation makes it out to be and i thought id get your opinion cuz you have one

  • You're an inspiration man

  • 5 dislikes WTF!?

  • now this is how you do a real drum cover. so clean.

  • This is real talent. Not many people can even wrap their heads around the off beats and complexity of the music. Great job man, extremely impressive.

  • Shit....that was insane....

  • Comment removed

  • yeah ahh okay. Okay, well i enjoyed my time as a drummer, peace.

  • I'm surprised you didn't double-stroke roll @ 2:50

  • @hiotsobo impossible to get those accents in if i had..

  • so fucking clean

  • Please some Periphery.

  • Dude... vid intro says wrighrdrums for the site. Hope you spotted it.

  • Troy your ghost notes are sick! I try but it seems like they are too loud compared to my rimshot. Do you play the clear part of your CS snare head to get less volume?

  • Which recording software do you use?

  • Some Between the Buried and Me please! :)

  • What is the stack made up of?

  • troy, do you count at all, when you play?

  • @joshuag94 if you're talking about '1 e + a' etc i only use that sometimes when working out parts... its all feel when i play tho

  • @wrightdrums could you possibly do a video on figuring out odd time signatures just by listening to a song? i've always had trouble with that.

  • 5 people think Lars could do a better cover..

  • very impressive man

  • Omg a Holy China :( i want

  • what do you use as stand for that overhead camera?

  • Are you a WIZARD??

How the heck do you remember the snare placements in the beats?

Does it help a lot if you transcribed it down and then practice that with a slower metronome until you gain speed and confidence?

  • @real1acer yeah man the only way i can play this sort of music is to write is out, learn what rhythms are going on and play through it... playing it slower doesn't really help me though, most of this stuff feels completely different at slower tempos

  • @wrightdrums, great work! This is the first time I've heard any song from Animal as Leaders and needless to say, my first impression was amazing. Any other songs from them that you recommend (for starters)? :)

  • @Bearthoughts wave of babies

  • @wrightdrums, thanks.

  • Fucking insane.

  • Awesome cover man! Your style resembles that of Thomas Lang.

  • You make it look so easy D:

  • is that a hi-hat on 0:23-0:31

  • @treyprodrummerx no mate its the china stack

  • @wrightdrums Could you please explain how one would go about constructing their own china stack?

  • @treyprodrummerx sounds sick doesnt it :P

  • Nicely done dawg

  • it was really damn impressive how you kept the hi-hat 16th notes accented through the part where the beats come in... i dont think Navene even plays those, damn. Amazing cover

  • I haven't seen a drumcover done this well on youtube in a LONG time, great job! :)
