  • Hi SuperBee...

Welcome to the wonderful world of YouTube videos. We are glad you are posting. I thought the D-28 Marquis had the sound closest to my Olson (although it misses the mark by a fair amount). Have you considered joining the fanned fret craze? I love my Bashkin.

  • Is the difference between the GPCPA3 and this cosmetic only?

  • @van1980 I'm not sure I haven't played the GPCPA3.

  • @van1980 gpcpa3 is a lower end i think from the back and sides.... and most is external

  • The D28 Marquis sounds a little more mellow and "boomy" to me. The GPCPA1 a bit crisper. Both are great guitars although. I think listening to these over the internet does either guitar justice. But I guess we'll have to settle!

  • Also I noticed you were unplugged, what is the mic your using here? Mic pre? The sound your getting is awesome on both guitars.

  • @Gtrmaestro That is an SE Electronics Small diaphram condenser mic into a Presonus Firestudio Mobile using my IMAC's camera

  • What strings and gauge's are you using on your GPCPA1? I've been using Elixer Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze 12's on mine with pretty good results.

  • martin gpcpa1 sounds alittle different than mine.. mine sound a little brightter.. did you chaged the strings... or what tone is it.. i have to change that.. i dont want it to bright..

  • sounds a little harsh when strumming with the pick. you must be using some heavy ass pick

  • Hi, what strings (& gauge) are you using on your Marquis? Thanks

  • @gitaro1010 .013's

  • i sat down and played this guitar for 2 hours today at the music store, i fell in love, and now i need 3 thousand dollars... haha

  • what song were you playing at 0:59?

  • @mattrca I wasn't playing at song persay just fiddling around at that point.

  • Both are very similar but yet so different, but neither one is better or worse, just different. There's no such thing as a bad top end Martin. I have a D-28 and am looking at buying the GPCPA 1 due to the subtle differences. Beautiful sound and craftsmanship sets Martin so far in front of other brands

  • I think the GPCPA-1 needs a new name,less complicated! ha ha.

  • I think the GPCPA-1 tonally has more suddle nuances than span across the complete acoutic spectrum. The D-28 while the tone is beautiful is more sound specific. My vote goes to the GPCPA-1 for a great all arounder. IMHO...

  • I think the GPCPA1 needs lighter strings. I would show the low's, and make the mid-range better.

  • I think the GPCPA1 has better balance top to bottom...then again I'm not particularly partial to the sound of dreds anyway.

  • hi,

great video. I am interested buying one martin guitar.

If you can only keep one of these two guitars you played here, which one is the keeper ?

    thanks,

  • As long as i listen to this, i think D-28 Marquis is better than GPCPA1.

But GPCPA1's plain strings is beautiful crystal sound.

    In my opinion.
