  • Here's a question for the vegetarian lovers, would this have been remotely possible for an average Joe that has lived his entire life on a vegetarian diet? I think size and strength on a veg diet could work if one lived on veg protein shakes. Your pin up veg bodybuilder Robert Cheeke has a hard time with pressin 110lbs, and is less muscular than a natural high school jock, that other black veg b.builder, soft and frail looking but acceptable body still built it on his prior meat eating life

  • I dunno JeanLouie, I think horses are pretty weak and wolves are pretty massive. It's mostly to due with genetics, actually. Horses, cows, elephants all have genetics that allow them to be muscular and large. So does this man. He has to eat a lot of food, no matter what the food is. Don't forget that cells are not composed of protein only - in fact a lot of the muscle contains mitochondria and sugar burning furnaces.

  • I've already agreed that this guy does have strength, but no one can attribute it solely vegan-ism, there are other factors. Would he be able to win if he lived his whole life vegan? I doubt it. You made a mistake saying "no matter what the food is", the food of the diet could in fact be anything... it just has to be digestible and contain all the amino acids and nutrition needed for growth. No amount of mitochondria will make a muscle fiber contract with the force of a larger one.

  • Georges Laraque, the guy who beats the crap out of everyone in the NHL is also Vegan. All foods with protein contain ALL the amino acids needed. It's actually a lie and myth that some foods are missing certain acids. Rather they aren't missing acids they just contain different amounts of them. This is why a silverback gorilla, or a horse is as strong as a wolf that eats pure meat. Actually the wolf is a lot weaker due to its genetics.

  • You make it sound like the guy that beats the crap out of everyone was vegan his whole life and still got big and strong, on his site he states he became vegan June 1 2009. Gorillas spend most of their day eating, mind you they still eat insects, and a normal horse would eat up to 11kg of plant material, both are huge amounts, no doubt nutritional needs are met, while a wolf may eat less than once a day, both have evolved with this in mind

  • You make it sound like my effort is futile and we might as well just give up as weak men without any balls and just continue being traditional and conservative meat eating idiots. It's as if you are here to defend meat eating until your death, and there's no sense in even having a discussion. Horses eat grass which has much less protein and starch than pasta, peas, nuts, roasted peas, etc. You make it sound like horse diet is what a vegan is. I'm done here. Thanks for the effort.

  • I don't think your effort is futile, though I would approach it differently if I shared your view. I'll continue to have my view until I see a large number of whole life vegans grow as big and as strong as their meat eating counterparts, other than physical performance vegan has lots of good points I admit. I don't mean to imply that a horse diet is what a vegan diet is, only that they're similar ie only vegetation. With the wolves, 'gross' is objective. Let's agree that we disagree we eachother

  • wolves constantly are eating mice. It's a gross lifestyle that I'd never want to be a part of. If you've read the controversial book dances with wolves or whatever it was called, you'll notice that wolves don't even eat the type of meat you think they would.... rarely do they get an actual caribou, most of their life is wasted eating disgusting little rodents. I don't see how anyone could use wolves as an example of intelligent society either. Their filthy and violent creatures.

  • Your attack on Robert Cheek is weak. That guy is not a power lifter, he's a body builder. He could easily bench press over 200 pounds. I bench pressed 190 pounds when I was 140 pounds and 6 feet tall and skinny as a kid. Saying he can only bench 110 pounds is an insult. I agree that Rob Cheeke is not massive in size, but he's also not maybe taking steroids like almost all body builders. I almost thought at one time that most body builders didn't take steroids. I learned the opposite.

  • 1) I didn't say "he can only bench 110 pounds" I said he "has hard time with pressin 110lbs", and promoting all vegan muscle building for over a decade, that's all he has to show for it, not impressive at all, I don't mind his reasons, but when it comes to performance and size, he hasn't got an argument. 2) natural normal diet body builders are way bigger than him, without steroids, heck, even natural gym rats are.

  • Carl Lewis , Tony Gonzales for the Cheifs , Jim Morris the bodybuilder were all vegans . Many marathon runners and triathelete champions are vegans . I'm 6 ft 182 pounds and incline press 120 pound dumbells for 3 sets of 8 reps . I'm no athlete , but pretty strong compared to most people and eat a vegetarian diet . When I became a vegetarian my strength stayed the same , but my stamina increased . I also realised what garbage whey protein is .

  • Carl Lewis became vegan late in his career, and tested positive for stimulants,Tony Gonzales still eats meat but avoids red meat as for Jim Morris,he says that he eliminated parts of his diet to what is is today,so chances are when he was competing he was a meat eater.Endurance events require close to no physical strength from muscle fibers, only stamina from a more efficient aerobic system, prob light as fuck too. You're on 120 from meat, you went vegan andyou haven'tgot stronger.Yourownadmission.

  • Have you seen pictures of the 15 year old R C?

  • No, I put "15 year old R C" into youtube search and nothing relatable comes up, you got a link

  • Yes, I have a link, but I'm unable to post it here, YouTube is not allowing it (?). It's under 500 characters. I'll try and pmail it to you.

  • Bloody hell that Robert Cheeke fag? ugh, the shining knight of vegan bodybuilding, that also happens to be smaller and weaker than natural gym rats.

  • There are lots of bigger and stronger vegan bodybuilders (including Dargatz), but Cheeke has been active in promoting veganism. I think Bigwood himself is bigger than Cheeke. What the link I posted to JeanLouie1106 shows is the difference between the before (would take off in a strong wind) and after Cheeke physiques.

  • I'm not impressed, all through the first match he was loosing and desperately tried to bend backwards the other guy's wrist, in the second he succeeded at 1.05, technically he won, but I don't see how he is stronger

  • Even if a guy is COMPETING in these events and placing let's say not even first place, but second, third, or even tenth..... it still shows this man has MASSIVE MUSCLE from eating no meat for many years

  • I totally agree with you on the 'all these guys competing are strong' view, but you're quite wrong on the second line. Consider he was eating meat all through his life until 2.5years prior to this clip, who's to say he hasn't developed all his strength before hand, and after a veg lay off and with muscle memory and nervous system mem, he's definitely gunna have an easy time crawling back to his prime, doubt he will ever get there though, possibly if he lives on veg protein shakes

  • 2.5 years is a long time. According to Lierre Keith, the guy should be DEAD pretty soon. Half dead, that is. Horses don't get strong because of the meat they eat. Wolves and cats are skinny for a reason. Most of the muscle builders and sprinters are on steroids anyway. That's one question I'd like to ask these competitors. Heck even non underground sports contain steroids. On the other hand there is genetics. I knew a guy in school who could bench press 350 pounds without training.

  • Sorry if I missed it, but who should be dead?

  • Lierre Keith claims that anyone should be half dead on a vegetarian diet. But then again she's an idiot meat eater and a hater.

  • Veggie Power! Screw meat!

  • Awesome!!!

    You are so cool!!!!!

Peta's T shirt looks great on you!

    :)

  • Hell yeah!

  • REPRESENT!

    Great video man.

  • Awesome guy!

  • solid stuff mate, STRONG!

  • Bigwood rocks! Very cool guy!

  • So....is this guy vegan or vegetarian?

If vegetarian....why is he called "Vegan Arm Wrestler"? If vegan....then why does it say 2 years as a vegetarian?
