ARENANET was the first to break the normal MMORPG circle with Dynamic Events and stuff instead of the usual quests and raids, which might be one of the best things happening to the genre to date.

If you're considering playing Guild Wars 1, STOP. Dear lord. Read the lore online or through novels (if they exist). The game itself is a frustrating and restricting grind.

@Uuynu Well, playing Guild Wars, even now, might let you gather some accomplishments and unlock things in GW2 (if you take the expansion Eye of the north), so it's always a good thing. But it's your choice, ultimately.

@Uuynu I just bought it a week ago, and I'm half way through Prophecies. Still need to do Factions, Nightfall, Eye of the North, Beyond(War In Kryta) and last but not least Hearts of the North(Gwen&Thackeray Story) lol!

It is soo worth it. I would do it. ;) Kinda costy, but you learn the lore fast. Make sure you find a guild that will help you through it, or else you won't be able to get anywhere very fast. They are the ones that help you the most.

@Uuynu you could always read Edge of Destiny, its a book set afew years before GW2 and basically sets the scene 200 years after GW1 and afew years before GW2.

@Uuynu You should (maybe you have in these three months) get the first guild wars for the story, reading on the internet is very boring and playing is so much fun, there are some things that you can do for titles, cool armors and stuff, but you won't need them for the story... so it is worth getting it :)

@Uuynu Playing through GW1 nets you some neat bonus items for GW2 and if you like the way GW2 is looking ,and you can't wait to play, GW1 is about 80% as fun as GW2 will be. To me, anyway. If you've got the disposable income, buy eet. If not, wiki <3

@MrRetlav Well, technically, we've never seen it before. It didn't exist during GW, but it's built in the Shaemoor province, which is in the first game, north of Divinity's Coast.

Isnt Divity Coast a small Fishing outpost near the docks, when you finish the "fountain of truth" mission (or whatever it was called).... i think you have to gather chosen ones but they get kidnapped right afterwards... the mission with the "eye inside the pyramid" (Gasp! government conspiracy!!! xD).

I always thinked THAT was divinitys coast.... xD
