  • Ahhh, good stuff! Now we know where "Black Hole Sun" came from, inspirationally speaking, of course.

  • Did the Doors themselves ever do this song live? SG gave it a good try, but not so much...

  • this is weak.

  • this is cool. from a doors fan and possibly soon to be sound garden fan.

  • Love Soundgarden. Hate the audio.

  • this is awesome

  • This actually sounds Awesome.

  • When you come from Washington State you spend a lot of time "Waiting For The Sun".......Love Soundgarden but this sounds like SHIT

  • When you come from Washington State you spend a lot of time "Waiting For The Sun".......

  • I'm the biggest Doors fan ever and if I say someone did well on a cover of their's well then they did. Soundgarden nailed this!

  • Whenever I see a doors cover, I've noticed that they're the ones that spark up the most debate. I dunno, I think they're one of the toughest bands to cover because you have to find the right balance between the original version and your own interpretation. It never works if you try to replicate the Doors, but if you alter it too much, it loses that magic that Jim, Ray, Robby and John first brought to the song, I think soundgarden does a good job keeping it intact.

  • oh my... <3333

  • que rockero la concha de su madre!!!! muy bueno... aguante soundgarden, aguante los doors!!

  • Fantastic!

  • worst cover ever, they destroyed a gem of a song.

  • @90carlw easy for you to say, they are not the doors, they are soundgarden, you might have overlooked that fact

  • @90carlw you are a dumb fag.

  • Like Jim But with 10 times the range.

  • @dukeljk and half the mystique.

  • Totaly bad bad very bad cover; Don't get me wrong I love SG but they shit in this master pice

  • what??? have you people ever listened to Soundgarden or The Doors?????? both of them far from sellouts. And both of them are far from being pop. and i agree on the covers thing, good to hear bands play songs differently, but sometimes it can be fine if they just play it as it is and its great of bands like soundgarden to play songs with bands they like and maybe get more people and younger people to check bands out that they wouldnt do otherwise

  • F*U*C*K the "new " GENERATION........they can all fuck off, same with the boomers!

  • Why do you need a band to bring the Doors to a new generation? surely if they can not understand the music, they shouldnt listen to it because its cool or whatever. And god dammit, im in that generation.

  • this is great

  • haha this is cool, but nothing beats the doors though!

  • i know, its crazy man.

  • I like this cover :).

  • About bringing the doors to a new generation...this generation is kinda unwillful. Back in the 60's they worshiped the music, smoked weed, took LSD, and worshiped it. These guys are like slimy, unthoughtful, greasy, money grabbing punks

  • so true. so fucking true...

  • u can still feel the doors when you drive thru la/sf valley

  • The doors are much more sell out then soundgarden ever was, the doors wrote a lot of pop music, they were a pop band, Soundgarden was not, except for black hole sun.

  • Since I was around then snot nose, let me give you some history. The Doors had no choice but make pop radio stations. Till Jim and the band arrived there really hadn't been a male singer who on his own could totally hypnotize an audience (especially the ladies). I like Soundgarden, but Chris Cornell is not even a skid mark on Jim Morrison's shorts when it comes to vocal presence and power. RIP Jim

  • Actually their only real pop was off their fourth album, when the band was at odds w/ each other, and they released the song 'touch me'. But still that had a good 4 songs out of 8 that were decent.

  • Go fuck a mountaing goat you fucktit

  • Personally, I think Soundgarden were/are one of the greatest group of artists of the 20th century. They certainly are not "Money Grabbing" when you consider that as soon as they achieved commercial success, they released an largely experimental follow up album and broke up.

If you are talking about modern, post 2000 indie/emo/pop - then I whole heartedly agree. They are slimey little punks.

Soundgarden however, are immortal in my eyes, and should not be brushed aside as 'Unthoughtful'.

  • gave me the clod shivers they brought the doors to a new generation

  • All of Soundgarden's covers sound like one of their own. Girl You Want by Devo is a good one too.

  • thats a prety sweet cover and of such an underrated song too

  • Pretty nice cover.

  • finally, a good (the)DOORS' cover!!! If only the sound quality were better...I could totally rock out to this!

  • well yes,i both like them but doors are irrepleaceable!

  • you know it!! But Chris Cornell is awesome for sure

  • black hole sun/waiting for the sun. a coincidence ?

  • I love both bands.

And besides you could always tell that Morrison was a huge influence on Cornell. You could hear it.

  • AWESOME COVER!!! their own twist but still does perfect justice to the doors. cool video thanks for posting!

  • I love it. I'm a fan of both bands, and they did good with this song

  • I never knew Soundgarden like The Doors!!! That makes them even cooler then I thought before...(I am a bit new to Soundgarden but my favorite band is The Doors) but no this is actually kinda good

  • Check out Soundgarden and Audioslave, and Cornell's first two solo albums

  • wow, that was pretty good

    i'm surprised

  • I'm sick of all these people talking about "oh, jim would have wanted this, or jim would not have wanted this" wtf do these fucktards know? chances are most of them were still swimming in their dad's sack when this man was alive so yeah, they can STFU.

  • Chris needs to dump Timbaland, get back with Soundgarden and record this for a reunion album!

  • Wow, I thought I never would have actually seen this cover from Soundgarden again! I was at this show and have been looking for this cover. Thank You for posting!

  • Anyone know where I can find the original version "Live." I can't find one on the Tube. And don't waste my time with smart ass remarks like go to their concert.

  • Great Cover!

    TX

  • Fucking amazing.

  • This is pretty fuckin cool never heard the garden doing this before liking it.

  • SOUNDGARDEN IS ALLOWED!! HELL-O? to step in Jim Morisons' & Ray Manzarek's SHOES! The Grunge era really tried to bring us back to where we once belong in that the "Generation X" children , we try to fulfill the MISSION of Our 1960's

  • This is fucking good quality for something some guy taped from the audience.

  • brilliant cover. has any other band covered this song?

  • This is pretty good. Morrison might be proud but then again he might not have given a crap. Long live the Morrison ideals

  • the chorus kinda sux but its still awesome

  • The original was perfectly fine, it didn't need to be changed; this video proves that.

  • this video doesn't do the song justice.soundgarden did a pretty good cover.i have this mp3 and it sounds much better.

  • this sounds sorry

  • What's the point on playing the song exactly like the original? That is for the Doors, in this case... The cool thing about cover songs is hearing the song with a different perspective... Loved the grunge cover!

  • cornell keep on singing but this song isnt supposed to sound grunge and heavy like this i understand its their take but in my opinion they killed a beautiful song

  • you actually had to be there, and see the lightning crashing in the distance. the song actually fit the setting. it totally rocked.

  • pffffffffffffffffft they made it more beautiful imo sorry if i sound rude

  • Huge Doors fan here. In my opinion;they totally ruined a great song.Original Doors music will live on forever!!!

  • as a fan of both grunge and The doors I thought this was a pretty decent cover. I hated the chorus though.. Cornell pretty much screwed that up. But if i heard this on the radio and i hadn't heard the doors version first, i would think this was a fuckin good song.

  • I thought that was pretty rad.

    Like both versions.

  • tasty, tasty, tasty \m/

  • They made an Grunge Song out of it.. I can't believe how they can do something like that without beeing ashamed.

  • You'd like it better if they made exact copy of the original? They made it their way and I respect them for that. I'm a big Doors fan, but I think if someone want to make a cover, he should make it in his own way. I hate coverbands.

  • Second that.

  • ya man jukeboz heroes who recreate other ppls music are douchebags

  • True that

  • I hate Chris Cornells voice, it totally mess up the song. I love the original.

  • i saw them performing this song on Lowlands festival---somewhere 1994....

was a great performance....I believe they played it a bit slower then...but I was also on acid at that time...;D

  • what the hell are those words he's singing?

  • ..sorry....but the Doors'original song is better!

  • not THAT terrible..(I mean we ARE talking abt the Doors here)..ok one supposes. But doesnt even BEGIn to touch the doors.

  • Your why music is dead.

Have you even heard the original?????

  • It is first on the list of the related videos, retard. I suppose it is quite easy to listen to it. Your poor mind is dead.

  • yeah, and this is very good, cause it's about rock, but if you're looking for triping songs and drugs you can stay with the original, you can say that this doesn't like you, but this guys doesn't kill the song... also the sound is awfull but isn't soundgarden's fault, i love the doors by the way

  • im gonna play it like this from now on

    kick-ass!

  • i think is grat.thanks

  • I think Jim would of liked this cause they're doing something diffrent with it.

I love both The Doors & Soundgarden, & think it's perfect except Cornell gets the verses order wrong, i also like Kim's solo.

  • All I know is that the doors would be appalled to hear this, Jim would be ashamed and disgruntled about the whole situation.

  • And he would be appalled by your lack of an open mind, douche bag.

  • pretty good, man!

  • ecco qualcuno più arrabbiato.....meglio....

  • I think Jim would run and hide crying and give up singing

  • I think Jim would have been very pleased :)

  • fuckin awesome
