How to tell a skilled driver from the average moron -- The skilled driver reverses a stick-shift without unnecessarily revving up; if slowly reversing downhill, he either does that in reverse gear with the clutch pedal being pressed or in neutral not touching the clutch pedal at all, controlling the vehicle's speed just by pressing the brake pedal, still without revving the engine as the average moron does. And listen, the driver in this video proved to be of that skilled type, so thumbs up!

why don't you replace the transmission with a modern day 6 speeder? would certainly improve the performance not just fuel wise ;) as you'd use more of the rev range and torque band...
@sawhnyk.... yea.....replace that nearly impossible-to-find 10-spline Top-Loader with some POS aluminum cased garbage that'll break the first time you drop the clutch.....smart.....not to mention destroying the value of the car. Stick to Fox body new junk, kid.
I am going to begin my restoration on my 68 GT 390. I found the car on the side of a guys house in 1984. I paid,,,,Please sit down....200 dollars for it!...and i can finally afford to work on it. My stang runs but the 390 is just restricted beyond belief. No wonder these cars were beaten by the camaros in 68. My car came stock with a 600cfm carb? When i get done with this 390 i know it will move real good. Why did ford release these cars like this? Alot of potential in this 390 Hi/Po.
It is tuned real well. Question; how do you keep the hood scoop from moving with that engines torgue? Is the scoop attached to the hood or the engine? Did you rebuild the engine yourself? What size carb?
Stock exhaust manifolds? The engine sounds like it breathes real well.
Hell Yeah ..i love the old 428 cobra jet mustangs....I have a 2006 ford mustang GT and with super 40 series flowmasters exhaust and a ford racing cold air intake kit ..love mustangs past and present

Hello thanks for the compliments. The motor is a 428 040 over Hooker, Holley 750, Comp cams, Mallory ignition,Edelebrock intake, heads ported and ploished, 350 rear.

Time for a new clutch? I noticed a little clutch chatter in first gear.
Love the sound and power of the Ford Big Blocks.
I have a 2006 Mustang GT 5 spd and a 1966 Fairlane 429 w/ C06. I like driving the 428 more than the 06 Mustang GT, far more power.
