The Southern Ocean Sanctuary (SOS) is a Whale protection area ratified by the IWC (International Whaling Organisation) to prevent whales from becoming extinct. Japan have continued to participate in whaling and continued to increase their yearly quotas, by labelling what they do as 'scientific research'. Whales are world heritage - they have no borders - they have the right to be protected by international conventions...
Japans whaling in the southern ocean is a breach of international law. Japan continue to whale as a front to keep international waters open and free from any long term sustainable resource management programme - so they can systematically decimate the last tuna populations.
So the issues are complex - read -understand -and react - there are three large Japanese corporations making millions on whaling - you get nothing 'cept the loss of this species - so why are you defending extinction!?!
What international law are they in breach of? Article 8 of the IWC states that the whaling being done is legal and is authorized in the SOS. So again, what LAW is being broken?
Also, there are several species of whale, not just one. The whalers mostly hunt species that are not endangered and the amount they take equal less than 1% of that species. So I am not "defending extinction" as there is no movement towards extinction.
Look, firstly, the Antarctica and the Southern Ocean are governed by some of the most comprehensive environmental legal regimes - Japan break these on a whole range of levels.

I'm vertualy vegetarian, I have not eatem meat since the begining of last year. Then it was just one piece of organic Kosher chicken. I dont eat sea fish as its not sustainable, I eat rod caught (by myself) fresh water fish or sustainable farmed salmon or sea trout.

Internationally waters means abiding by international conventions and law. The Southern Ocean Sanctuary (SOS) is a Whale protection area ratified by the IWC (International Whaling Organisation) to prevent whales from becoming extinct. Japan have continued to participate in whaling and continued to increase their yearly quotas, by labelling what they do as 'scientific research'. Whales are world heritage - they have no borders - they have the right to be protected by international conventions...

Japans whaling in the southern ocean is a breach of international law. Japan continue to whale as a front to keep international waters open and free from any long term sustainable resource management programme - so they can systematically decimate the last tuna populations.
So the issues are complex - read -understand -and react - there are three large Japanese corporations making millions on whaling - you get nothing 'cept the loss of this species - so why are you defending extinction!?!

What international law are they in breach of? Article 8 of the IWC states that the whaling being done is legal and is authorized in the SOS. So again, what LAW is being broken?
Also, there are several species of whale, not just one. The whalers mostly hunt species that are not endangered and the amount they take equal less than 1% of that species. So I am not "defending extinction" as there is no movement towards extinction.

Look, firstly, the Antarctica and the Southern Ocean are governed by some of the most comprehensive environmental legal regimes - Japan break these on a whole range of levels.
What does 'not endangered mean'? maybe 'not endangered relative to critically endangered whale species!'! I suppose -

And not endangered means EXACTLY what it sounds like. There are dozens of species of whales and very few are actually endangered. It's really not that difficult of a thing to understand.
