Egypt was not a Soviet-sponsored state when the USS Liberty incident took place (1967). Egyptian-Soviet ties started it's strength after the 1967 battle. Egypt was a member of the "Non-Aligned Movement" (along with India and Yugoslavia). So Israel knew that the US had no problem declaring war on Egypt then, and the USS Liberty operation was set in motion for that purpose.

The HRC made their conclusion before even looking at the evidenc and admitted they relied on activists statements. They are also cooperating with another UN fact finding report which I believe is led by Brazil .

Yes, Sefik Dinc's account is the only eyewitness report that contradicts all the other eyewitness reports on the Mavi Marmara.
All the other eyewitnesses talked of a very different story than Mr.Dinc's. They spoke of troops who were very trigger-happy.

I took you're advice and read some history. It goes as follows: Egypt was one of the 3 founding members of the "Non-Aligned Movement" in 1961. So it could not have been a vassal state of the soviet union.. Egypt was not a Soviet-sponsored state when the USS Liberty incident took place (1967). Egyptian-Soviet ties started it's strength after the 1967 battle. Egypt was a member of the "Non-Aligned Movement" (along with India and Yugoslavia). So Israel knew that the US had no problem declaring war on Egypt then, and the USS Liberty operation was set in motion for that purpose.
