  • In the thumbnail Zappa looks like a total pimp!

  • Der Mann ist viel zu früh gestorben .Einer großten Musiker.

    Nobi

  • twizzed around love him rip fz

  • Oh my god, Just look at the way that cute little skinny Terry Ted Bozio rocks that clip off of baby snakes!

  • Zappa wrote all of the music for the mothers and Zappa Captain Beefheart (Van Vliet) was an amazing musician but he was nothing compared to Zappa's musical genius. Zappa is truly on a whole 'nother level of musical density and some people just can't comprehend that.

  • Is terry bozzio gay wow?

  • truly clever talented mind..Bill Hicks, Gil Scott Heron & Frank Zappa rolled up imagine that... truth-sayers all

  • @Jerebear57 Thank God! :D

  • The compiler of the documentary seems like an idiot who knows almost nothing about Zappa's music, or anyone's music other than the top 40.

  • Wonder what Frank would think of today. I suspect that he would think the values are all tweezed around again.

  • good stuff mate frank influenced me to take the drum kit very seriously as an instrument..thanks again for putting this stuff up

  • @zidumare Believe it or not there are people who hate Zappa, and actually go out of their way to click on my vids and click the dislike button, I've had one guy lately that kept making the comment "Another dislike, there will be plenty more" such pathetic behaviour from grown men..

  • @reldditmot dude men arent grown up anymore there kindergarteners in big hairy bodies

  • @reldditmot yes the name themselfs beatlemaniacs

  • i respect the mans mind and his humour, but i cant understand the "musical genius" bit. i know hes a very good guitarist though.more a beefheart man myself.

  • @dreadedwheat26 If you venture more and take in his whole repoitoir, from composer, original song writer, film maker, director/producer, band leader, conductor, innovative and unique electric guitarist, drummer, actor, record producer, record label owner, TV presenter, and businessman among other things, and general all round entrepeneur, then you get to see that the label genius is justified, he puts all others in the shade, Beefheart was also a genius!

  • @reldditmot Yeah, no wonder he died at 53 years old, when he had already achieved more than the average genius would in 6 lifetimes :D

  • @dreadedwheat26 If you like Beefheart, you are a thinking person. Don was more a Dada artist mixed with an R&B/Blues voice that was outstanding and had some great musicians in tow too. Don's music was more poetic (at least at times) than Franks, but Don had to hum his songs to musicians to interpret them. Frank could write scores so complicated that it was like Varesse in Rock. Frank could play in a way that Beef couldn't and he actually made some money and then spent it back on dreams.RIP FZ.

  • @BMayhew60 That's true, but I enjoy The magic band's more "natural" approach. Both great artists though.

  • @dreadedwheat26 Well, most true musicians do understand Mr. Zappa possessed extraordinary skill in music, as a composer. Much more than simply a guitarist, Zappa's genius was in his understanding of music, and his truly unique vision. Your average Joe on the street won't get that (no offense intended, I like Beefheart too).

  • @dreadedwheat26 Take a musical theory class, and Zappa will blow your mind.

  • @dreadedwheat26 Zappa said his guitar was his wand...

  • @dreadedwheat26

Try transcribing some of his music...

  • unfortunately this new generation of idiots who listen to such crap, that most of the stuff in zappas vault wont be remastered and released, its so sad to hear what is popular then what isnt but what should be

  • @grimcow4000

That's the shame of it; especially nowadays younger people think popular is good, when the opposite is often true.

  • Does anyone know if there is any footage of Henry Vestine playing with the Mothers?

  • i think that was awesome when Mr.Zappa makes fun of punky meadows,,angel had a few songs i liked,,but punky and the rest of angel looked like girls on the album cover..thanks Frank for everything....

  • thx for posting - wonderful!

  • @zidumare i peed in your swimming pool arf arf

  • Great to see Cincy's own Adrian Belew.

  • 3:51 Choo choo and he grabs the guy's nose HAHAHAHAHAAAHHAAHAHHA

  • Gawd I miss early to mid 80's mtv.

  • Brilliant! Thanks for posting.

  • This is great! Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks for this

  • frank was the greatest

  • About 9:30 in this video, the MTV VJ mentioned that Frank Zappa was prolific. Indeed! As humble as Zappa portrayed this fact to be;supposedly, there is twice as much UMRK Zappa material in existence than there was already released! That is a tremendous accomplishment.I can't wait to hear as much of his unreleased material as possible;so far I have heard all the official releases.I am very greatful that the Zappa Family Trust is willing to release some of his unreleased material every year or two.

  • I know! The amount is phenomenal. He also apparently has over 2500 unfinished Synclavier works sitting on some floppy disks somewhere... All I can hope is that the ZFT release it one day...

  • There is enough material in the vault to allegedly produce around 500 albums, don't know what the immediate future holds though..

  • @reldditmot :O

  • @theknightmarlowe I'd love to hear those! And any other unreleased tapes.

Although I've got mixed feelings about this. I mean, most of this stuff was never meant to be released since it wasn't deemed "good" enough.

Well, Zappa-philes will lap everything up, but I'm not sure if we're respecting Frank's wish or not. Probably not.

Anyway, I want to see more live footage. What happened to the Roxy stuff?

It was advertised 4 or 5 years ago for DVD and then nothing.

    That stuff rocks!

  • If FZ was here today do you think he would suggest you get a Toyota Prius and CFLlight bulbs?I wish he was here maybe there would be more people snapping out of being "liberal"/less controlled by gov. propaganda & pop culture nonsense...Since we're more insane now a days(meterial possessions, physical world syndrome)and pay more attention to degraded things then our hearts, he would be a good figure for today since more & more ppl are finding out that theres better music out there than tv radio

  • He is a shaman...his lyrics, his political views can't make it commercial with a spirit like his, you have to kiss ass.

  • Franf never kissed ass!

  • Most FZ fans know this, however Frank himself only found this information later in his life! On the Lumpy Gravy album sleeve it has his name as Francis Vincent Zappa, some are still just misinformed..

  • Frank didnt start the Mother`s ,this piece says he was the founder and vision of the MOTHERS` BUT THEY WERE ALREADY A BAND B4 fRANK USURPED THE DRIVERS SEAT!

  • True, but he did take them in a direction they'd never have taken though, with his own original material..and got them their first record contract, the rest is history.

    Regards, Shaun

  • yup! he told them if they dont stop playing covers they will be playing the 'bar-scene' forever! which is true ,and not true ,`cos a lotta bands got some good recognition from doing a great cover that no-one knew was a cover! thanx for the videos !

  • In the 60's "Freak" Zappa was the center of the Laurel Canyon elite while frowning on drug use. He was 100 times cooler, original, and funnier than his contemporaries and he who came after him. Any decent record store in his old stomping grounds has had his picture on the wall (somtimes over a toilet). Circa '79my mother (who looked like Joan Baez) claimed he had a real stero in his white cad. when he was waiting to pick up his kids. In I considered buying the old Zappa Records on Ventura Blvd.

  • musical genius is what he is. man of god he is not. funny writer he is, 'moral' he is not....

  • Every human is immoral at one time of their life or another, or another, lol. As compared to ?

    You are what you is.

  • Said in documentarian aplomb:

"Although considered a pop musician, Frank Zappa has a tendency to frighten people... it's because of his MIND..."

  • you are what you is indeed. Think about that for a minute..

  • just happens to play guitar lol

  • One of the greatest musicans ever, more then just a genius, tyvm for posting.

  • not that kind of iconoclast, lol...

  • utter Genius!!!

  • never try to get your peter sucked in france

  • 10:22 Dwwzil

  • he says 'd-w-double e-z-i-l

  • great! great ! great!

    thanks man..again

  • Special entertainment for a specific audience indeed!

  • cool
