  • I have class in the building where he works. Haven't seen him in person yet, though!

  • 5mins with Brian cox? That's all I'll need ;)

  • What is space on its own made of? if matter and things within space-time are made up of particles, is space and time made up of little building blocks? or is it just a single fabric that is been stretched as the universe expands?

  • "What do you do to wind down?"

    "Watch clocks."

Haha, funny play on words. Brian Cox is amazing. It's a shame I have only just found out about him in the past year (from a friend of mine who is rightfully obsessed with him), and this is only the first video of his that I have ever watched. His passion for science is contagious.

  • In college, I got an F in Physics, a C in Calculus, an F in Psychology, and a B in Women's Literature. I find this to be amusing since I'm a Mad Genius. Anyway, Brian Cox is an awesome person, for sure.

  • Tutta la mia ammirazione!!

  • Tutta la mia ammirazione!!

  • does he really say 'securi'y init'?

  • Richard Feymann is my third favorite scientist, Michio Kaku my second and Brian Cox, my first.

  • @Th3Sh1n1gam1 What about Neil deGrasse Tyson?

  • @CullTheLivingFlower He'd be # 4

  • @Th3Sh1n1gam1 Mine is Newton,Michio and Einstein

  • @Th3Sh1n1gam1 So just leave out Tyson, Sagan, Hawking, and other cool dudes.

  • @Th3Sh1n1gam1 1.carl sagan 2.brian cox 3.carl sagan

  • Who start the big bang?

  • @sahara7 the question is what. not who

  • @sahara7 chuck norris..

  • @paigerocks884

No, it's god but with the authorization of chuck norris.

  • @sahara7 Begging the question much?

  • @Parhamovic ...omg do they make those? haha, I'd be first in line.

  • *counts down* "Three, Two, ..." annnd the video stops to load. Fantastic.

  • We are the only species that can do that....on Earth. Yea he just admitted to aliens. BOOM!

  • @CooperCarr87

Science never rejects the possibility of anything, especially not alternative intelligent life. For us to assume we are truly alone in this vast space that is our Universe is to be truly ignorance, however since we have no proof that other life exists, or at least proof that is publicly available, our best option is to wait for further evidence before making any more assumptions.

  • @NeutralExistence You do realize I was just joking around there broski?

  • awesome answers

  • @Parhamovic absolutely, I would like to ask Dr.Cox what his educational plan for his son is.

  • Wow she's cute, ... o wait....

  • @zptramel me too O___O

  • I love his accent.

  • at the end i was hoping "oh i smoke weed"

  • security innit!

  • Haha, I would have answered these questions with the same answers as he, except I think the most important scientific discovery was the image of the Hubbell ultra deep field picture... that image changed my life!

  • I still think Carl Sagan is sexier hmm...

  • @soulessENERGY I agree!

  • he was so formal all the time while interviewing but when he said,"that's allright it's security init.." that "init" bit made him informal but in a nice way :p

  • brian cox is the scientist most beautiful I've ever seen

  • im 15 and im paying 25 quid to see him, cant wait :D

  • he is so sexy <3 loved him in that quantum theory remix vid ^,^

  • "I smile too much." Oh thank God. I though his face was just stuck that way.xD

  • I'm procrastinating studying for exams by watching Brian Cox videos. Somehow, that feels rather awesome.

  • Loved him on QI

  • He believes in the big bang THEORY and believes we will benefit from smashing things together. He's still a popstar at heart

  • It's a shame Brian Cox isn't a socially conscious as Carl Sagan was.

Brian Cox is the new media's face of science but he's not as observational to our social and environmental problems on this planet in relationship to our ability to align ourselves sustainabiy with the Earth.

Sagan was an amazing scientist, but he was also an incredibly empathic human being, and often expressed concern for the well-being of the species, I hope Cox sees the necessity in doing the same soon :)

  • @brucegalliver i agree.

  • Comment removed

  • he's the 21st century version of Johhny Ball. Just hotter (according to the ladies :)

  • @lustreboy to us that are queer too

  • Dumb girls like Justin Timberlake, smart girls like Brian Cox

  • @FrozenPetrolPie I Nice generalisation. there are plenty of brainless women who like both xD

  • @MissHomesy1 Thanks, I did my best with that generalization, here is some more. I would say that there are almost no girls who like Brian. Most women don't even know who Brian Cox is, all his videos on YouTube have like 99% male views. At the same time Justin Timberlake's videos have all female views. The reason for this is that girls for the most part don't care about science.

  • So sexy. He is SO sexy.

  • he has proof of climate change?

  • 1:01 DON'T WASTE TIME!!

  • He's name is more of a pornstar rather than a physicist's xD

  • I'm 13 and I've been chosen to go to a lecture by this man on Wednesday sooooooooooo excited

  • @mr95productions You are indeed lucky, maybe when you grow up you'll say my hero was Brian Cox.

  • @mr95productions Congratulations! Hope you have a great time.

  • @mr95productions

your a lying sack of shit !

  • @mr95productions I am proud of the fact that the younger generation coming up still have people who want to learn and find truth and fact not fiction and story tails.

  • @mr95productions HOw did the lecture go with Brian Cox, you can just send me a msg instead of comment on the video\.

  • Comment removed

  • @mr95productions How was the lecture?

  • @mr95productions You lucky bastard!

  • @mr95productions Damn it you're lucky :P

    How was it?

  • He can teach me any day ;)

  • Our generations Carl Sagan, very cool guy.

  • You're right - smart IS sexy! :)

  • Brian Cox is living proof that smart is sexy XD

(and I'm a straight dude, mind you)

  • i want a life time with him. he is way too hot and his brain is amazing i want him

  • I fucking hate this interviewer, always have. The guy is just pure awkward, I don't understand why the BBC keeps paying him, he must be somebody's son/nephew or whatever.

  • excellent. thank you for uploading this video.

  • Good questions.

  • quite simply, Brian Cox is THE collest man alive today.. Don't know ANYONE else who could answer those kinda questions in that succint, intelligent manner. SOOO cool.....

  • @laney468 He reminds me of Bill Nye and Richard Dawkins. All the intelligence of Dawkins with the simple, charismatic nature of Nye.

  • @laney468 right!!

  • @laney468 Neil deGrasse Tyson also does a great job :)

  • @laney468 Hawks,Man you don't need to talk about him. His 12 inch rims are gangsta "thats how he rolls"

  • Woops,I spelt "intelligent' wrong. Because I'm not!! :-0 Lol!

  • He's very intellegent,very good looking,has a sense of humour,loves music,loves astronomy,and he looks well young for 43!! And I'm 30! He is my ideal man!:-)) Well-and Keanu Reeves-hey, he looks like him! :-))) X

  • I wish I could have had him as my Physics teacher.

  • I want his babies!

  • @heathy8it

but I am afraid he wouldnt be with you :-D

  • Sorry, Science can't be dangerous!?! Ask the people in Hiroshima.

You can't trust someone who smiles all the time.

  • @Belgobrum It's not the Science that's dangerous.

  • @Belgobrum Yes, science dropped the bomb, not the US Air Force...

  • @Belgobrum Science is the simple act of questing why something is how it is, or on a much larger scale, any question anybody has ever asked or any thing anyones ever thought of has been Science. 'Science' (Or people trying to figure things out) made an extremely powerful bomb, the only thing 'Science' did was try and prove if making such a powerful bomb was possible. Trying to find answers isn't dangerous in itself, people manage to make things dangerous. Especially politicians.

  • @Belgobrum "That's not a problem for science, really. It's a problem for politics."

  • who disliked this!?!? profcox i love you x

  • Hey Prof, stop dumbing down

  • haha i didnt think he knew he smiles to much lol becuase he never stops smiling,

Dawkins and cox most awesome and outspoken scientists ever :)

  • "It's security init"

    Brian! xD

  • to abreviate: 5 minutes with cox ;)

  • @lordkelvin1 abbreviate

  • This is what Youtube is all about in my mind. Professor Brian Cox is already an absolute legend. If everybody was as intelligent as him there would be no war, no religion (war) no poverty, no greed, no industrialisation - simply science. A science fact - in fact! Human beings are merely a 'speck' on the universe, and we'll destroy ourselves in a billionth on a nanosecond in which it has taken to create us. That right there... is our bad.

  • Brian at his most handsome!

  • Brian Cox- Making science sexy since 2005

  • Brain.

    Cox.

    What's not to like?

  • Phwoar, I'd so be up for it with Brian Cox.

  • the moment the question was asked about his sciences hero I knew Carl Sagan's name would come up. Had to. And there it came up. Unsurprisingly.

This guy would make Carl Sagan proud. I think he's got a very similar mentality. Maybe not the same ability for communication, but for sure he's very "Sagan" in all what he says...

That turns Brian Cox into an instant winner for me.

  • @ramjb Bingo. I was like "sagan sagan sagan sagan..." waiting for it and was happy to hear it. Feyman is great too. And I agree that Cox is like sagan, as they both had lots and lots of enthusiasm for science and the advancement of.

  • its hilarious when people come on here to discredit Brian Cox as a real scientist but when pushed to provide evidence they come up with dribble about UFOs and creationism. Keep 'em coming. Its hilarious.

  • @heathy8it As it happens, I AM homosexual and ... you have no idea how much I would love to spend the rest of my life with this unbelievably stunning man. Unbelievably stunning in EVERY way. Now! How pathetic is that? I guess, though, most of us have heroes, dreams, fantasies. More strength to this astonishing young man. ... and to you for your insight.

  • @phantommate I`m not gay but for this .....stunning is actually thecorrect and only term, you`ve hit it on the head.....man, I`d willingly try the experiment or perhaps I`m bi and just don`t realise it,lol.

  • Oh wow, he is wonderful. He doesn't smile too much; he smiles a lot and more than anyone I've seen but other people don't smile enough. Only downside is he still looks like a boy-bander but I forgive him that as he is just so cute. I definately would ; )

  • The interviewer sounds so dopey lol

  • all aboard the mantrain!

  • If my professors would explain particle physics in a way he does, and smile while doing it, i would have 2 PhDs. And thats what is special about him, not his looks. :-)

  • @heathy8it Oh boy! even If I was straight I would like him.

  • Ah, Brian. We're just lucky to have you. Use whatever you need to to get those minds pried open.

And speaking for the femmes out here, let me just say that any man that can put complex ideas so elegantly, while LOOKING LIKE THAT, is sweaty-palm inducing. Lucky giagia!

  • @heathy8it mine is brandon flowers, matt bellamy, and brian cox.

  • he is so luuuuuuuuverly

  • It's hilarious how the two schools of physics are so divided, and that a physicist on one side will have so much trouble comprehending the other side! Someone intelligent enough as Brian Cox, who can truly understand particle physics, has trouble wrapping his brain around gravity! The world is so fascinating, and confusing. Particle physics in particular, quantum theory, beyond mind-boggling.

  • @heathy8it hes not homosexual -.- hes married to some lady :P

  • too bad hes married :P

  • excellent

  • 5 minutes is no good. It should be 5 hours.

  • @LeeDH22 agreed

  • @LeeDH22 5 days even.

  • Not since Carl Sagan's time has anyone been able to captivate me with fascinating stories of astrophysics quite like Brian Cox.

  • come on people this doesnt have to do with clothes style or the music he listens to but the mind he carries.Even if he seems to be like an ordinary guy-i mean who would think that he is a science prof-he is one of the most intelligent people in the world

  • My name is Brian Cox and I'm a musician who loves particle physics :P

  • @heathy8it HAH! :D:D Geez... And if I were Brian Cox, I would say NO! XD

  • So much love for him. I dont even care how old he is, I want to marry him. ahaha

  • @heathy8it lol you gay

  • @heathy8it You ARE a homosexual...... not that there's anything wrong with that.

  • i love. i just love him.

  • It appears that he ......genuinely.... enjoys science.

  • I still cannot believe that Prof. Cox is 40

  • @starsolace actually, he's 42 :)

  • When the guy asked something about a "scientific hero," all that was repeating in my my mind was "Sagan, Sagan, Sagan, Say Sagan" and he finally said it and then added Richard Feynman.

Good Job Brian, you just listed my two Scientific Heroes.

  • @UncomfortableSilence I thought exactly the same thing. :-)

I'd add Brian Cox as the 3rd though. Just because of how he makes science (particularly physics) so understandable, beautiful and poetic.

  • very nice and clever guy

  • I'd like 5 minutes with Brian Cox XD

  • @NikCroft for a moment that sounded gay.. with cox and all :) But ya I know what ya mean. :P

  • Am I the only one who find this man very unnatural and neurotic. He has this odd passive aggressive smile plastered on his face all the time. I would like to know what kind of moisturizer he uses...that is the real mystery of the universe.

  • @transfoby I just think he looks excited, myself, and not passive aggressive in the least. But if you don't like him, just don't watch the videos. Easy enough.

  • I was looking for Brian Cox, the actor, and I found this. Then I saw "Holy shit he's fucking hot". Then I saw "holy shit he's a particle physicist". And then I saw "Holy shit he's genuinely competent and charismatic". And now I've finally realized "Holy shit, I have to do more research, but I think I'm in love". I may be exhausted and it may be 3:40, but I need more info on this guy. TO THE INTERNETS! Oh wait, I'm already here...

  • @durge666 Get off the interenets. No, just kidding you can stay. But there are others who must leave.. and you know who you are.

  • @abz998 cheers I thought it was

  • I personally find him mesmerizing both to look at and listen to.........

  • /watch?v=NQPnccrWvvA this must have hurt like hell !! ouchhh

  • Woah, atheist? I'm not watching any of his shows again, he got lucky, but any other person in his field makes almost no money and works part time at mcdonalds.

  • good man but bad haircut!!

  • When he's talking about the percentages he doesn't literally mean that we understand exactly 4%. And that we can't see or prove the other 96%. That 96% is dark matter I think. I think. Don't get angry if I'm wrong but my knowledge of physics as a 16 yr old nerd makes me think he means dark matter.

  • Wot does he mean by we don't understand 96% of the universe??

  • @WayneKerrlol a large part of the universe is made up off dark energy. We don't know much about dark energy at the moment.

  • I loathe this creep, he makes me feel physically sick

  • this man is beautiful........his wife is very lucky

  • "The power we've got, for example in atomic weapons, perhaps exceeds our wisdom." Well put.

  • How old is he? He going gray but his face looks like he's 30.

  • @blackplastic7 42 yrs old.......

  • I have officially fallen in love with this man.

I am 15 and I was not really interested in Physics until I discovered Brian. He has inspired me to take up Physics in school (although I still consider Chemistry as my favourite science) and for that I thank him.

  • @flibble3333 Remember that chemistry is just applied physics, so your going to have to know both. Best of luck with whichever path you take.

  • great stuff, Brian rox

  • One more brilliant human being who acknowledges human-induced climate change. So sad that some people still think its debatable.

  • What a fantastic guy! I'm absolutely flabbergasted over the things he said. Do we only understand what 4% of the universe is - that's amazing... I think we need to get a little more humble humanity!!!

  • I thought Science was boring in school but after seeing Brian Cox I find it so amazing and could listen to him forever! I think its because he isnt like an average professor, he delivers it in such a great way and because he is laid back and as he said "smiles a lot" he doesnt take it too seriously which doesnt make you feel like he is laying it on thick.

  • Brian Cox is my Hero.

  • twit

  • Ok..I'm not gonna lie..he's actually pretty sexy..idk why but..damn! And I love how smart he is! God there are not enough people like him!

  • I have had this thought for over 10 years that Electro-Magnetism is something really special. I'm not a 'scientist' officially... but there is something to be harnessed!

  • @morgandude2 lol no shit there is something to be harnessed. we have already harnessed it.

  • He was the keyboard player in D:ream?

    (pickin up yaw from floor)

  • He is really awesome!

  • I totally agree with you. Only the other day I posted on my Facebook that I thought Carl Sagan and returned in the form of Brian Cox!!

The fact he mentions both Carl Sagan and Richard Feynman in space of 10 seconds is awesome. Sagan and Feynman are my science heros, I can now add a 3rd Brian Cox. Brilliant.
