Just purchased FQ858AA for $34 shipped from Amazon, seems cheaper than HP on-line. I hope it works and improves the speed of this pea-brained mini.

Also to speed up the HP mini 210 kill the HP software. click on start and type in MSCONFIG, hit return, and uncheck as many HP apps as you can find from the startup, and then reboot, the CPU usage seems to fall by 50 to 80%. I checked all the .exe hp files I could find on the net and none of them clocked in as essential. So far so good. GN

The RAM does not speed up your computer. It is random access to memory. More RAM gives your the ability to have more programs open at the same time. If you don't have enuff RAM your data is stored on a paging file on the hard disk ..this will cause the computer to slow down because it is trying to read and write all the time from the hard drive which is a lot slower than dedicated memory modules.

in the site hp canada, for the hp mini 210 (updated version) they said it only allows a max of 1 gb (not 2gb) of ddr3 memory. should i not listen to hp and install a 2 gb ddr3 memory?

I know the video quality sucks...some ppl love stating .. the obvious....the video was recorded with a Sprint HTC hero camera phone, while I was installing a memory module into a pc ...so you have to be very, very dum 2 not understand that...

I made the video just two show the pc would boot after being upgraded.

More rams allows you to have more programs running in the background.. it doesn't speed up your computer ...it just keeps the computer from having to resort to virtual memory....virtual memory takes longer to access...

First, Thanks a ton for the vid. I was one of the mindless sheep believing what I was told. (Upgrade not possible). I will be upgrading to 2 gb tomorrow.

Second, Thanks for the tip on the bios upgrade.

Third, If you want more speed on boot up, get rid of some of your junk programs. Go into regedit or msconfig and kill the stuff you dont need, i.e. the memory/processor monitor, skype, aim, google toolbar, etc.. I am like you, slightly paranoid on Ram installs and hate slow boots.

I called HP about the exact same model. After a 1/2 hr. on the phone with them I was told that the mini 210 was not upgradeable to 2GB. Your video has certainly proved them wrong.

Yeah, you need a better camera. Also, make sure ppl can't read and steal your Microsoft Product Key by covering up the numbers. Of course the vid wasn't that clear so no problem.
