I grew up at 173 S. Marr in the 1950s. We had the same type of serious flood one year. That big white apartment building across the street used to be part of a Deep Rock Gas station. The Kirchensteins lived there and owned the gas station. All that's left is the garage. The big houses and lawns and gardens across the street are gone too. I went to school at St. Joes down the street. Whatever happened to Bobby Knipple who lived around the corner on 4th? FdL in the 50s was heaven on earth.
I live in fondy and i went out that night, holy crap, park lane just off of park street (next to dutch gap) was covered in about 5 feet of water...a cop car had stalled there the water covered the lights on top the car...insane stuff.
I also live in FDL and thank god the flooding didn't get any worse than it did, i live right behind the sheriffs Dept and near the river which didn't do too much damage with the exception of a few apts on the lower level.
my daughter had to walk a good way last night, she works at buckle..her car started today, but is soaking up the water on the floor..she walked about five miles in high heels! we live in the UP, can`t help her much
Clean up has been rather speedy, but we're expecting more rain today and we're under a new flash flood warning right now. I hope he can get out before it starts raining again. :) Good luck!
we tried getting a bowling alley... but we couldnt get down the road passed johnson... its horrid! awesome vid, i am gonna make one later myself with pics
Thanks, I think the footage gets extra emotion when it's taken by someone affected. The good news is that they pumped the water out and now people are cleaning up down my street.
This was the craziest day of that year ever

Missed it all, worked from 4pm-12:30am, so I left as it started raining, got out after the storm. Caught in the water, though.

Milwaukee is okay, but there are some counties in between Fondy and there that are still under a state of emergency.
