hey coach nick, im an undersized high school junior, i tried out for the team this last year and the coach told me that my defense wasnt good even tho everyone i play with and against says i can "d up" pretty well. i was wondering if u could do a video on proper defense fundamentals but also show them being applied in a drill or something, like a shell drill. if defense really was the reason i didnt make it this year, i wanna make sure that i play better defense for AAU or stuff like that

@HJAnglez We are getting there - as a team. Individually, we don't stack up against the top teams, but we can compete. And I have this sixth sense that they're going to put it all together and we'll be raining 3's down and just demolish whoever it is we play that day.

@rocky12rullshard It's a little funky. I don't try and change them if they're juniors - too hard. But his release out of his hand is good, and good rotation on the ball.

@jdliauw Because you can change your direction way easier of 2 feet.

@jdliauw @rocky12rullshard there was a study that showed shoot % increased significantly when you jumped off 2 feet compared to one foot. You're better balanced, have more explosion, and can slide past a defender who's trying to take a charge. I can't tell you how hard I've worked on finishing this way

@Elextos My tallest PF is 6'5" (he doesn't start). My starting PF and C are both 6'1" and play with more heart than their opponents.

@breenhill Payam has transformed from a "98 lb. weakling" to a real athlete who beats "quicker" players in our quickness drills. He's now cut, lean, and a testament to hard work.

Good polish on those players w/ their versatile shot arsenal. How did you get the coaching position there? Are you a teacher?

@atzalas I used to teach there from 98-2002, and was an assistant. I took over the program last year when the coach left abruptly.
