One of the hardest things to learn when playing guitar is when to step back, and let the other guy take the spotlight. When you have perfected the ability to trade off, and know when to stop your solo before it drags on to long, you are on your way to being a great!!

Many very experienced guitarists still have troubles knowing when to stop playing, and let the other guy have his moment in the spotlight.

unfortunately, i read a negative comment about this gem of a 15yr old... (cough cough badmuddy cough). it's said to see someone knock her. i've learned that people who knock down someone who is gifted/talented/fortunate/bles­sed are usually jealous. i say get off your behind and find out what makes you shine, and don't be envious/jealous/covet/lazy. (can you fathom the amount of hours this girl spends a day to be this good)... people who are jealous/envious/covetous can ride in the back.

desiree bassett is so great because she really loves this music. and that is the key driving element that makes a learning musician excel. passion. her folks, family, or whoever got her into the greats. she can play zep/page, clapton, hendrix and hard metal, the toughest music to play. this is what makes her so grand. can't wait to see her master other greats like rhoads, rush/lifeson, wylde etc.

Get a grip. She's an artist doing what she loves. Watch again especially after she starts to really get into it. She goes off, the playing may not be perfect but she conveys a lot of soul and energy. Don't judge because she's a kid.

i dunno, this sounds pretty dreadful to me. the lack of maturity in her playing is painfully obvious. technique is the easy part, especially for a kid. but without the experience of some actual living under her belt, she has nothing to convey, & music is, after all, about communication. personally, i think there are enough artists who've actually done the spilling of blood for their craft, & i think it highly unfair & wrong for the industry to ignore them for what amounts to novelty.

Desiree really understands what parts drive the rhythm, and when to grandstand! Her solos ride the razors edge between control and chaos.

My favorite moment is when she bows to Aledort and seamlessly swaps lead for rhythm to give him his moment in the spotlight. That effortless sort of synchronization and grace are really amazing.

You can't help feeling awesome when you see the obvious joy beaming from Desiree when she's rockin' out!

If ever Desiree comes to the UK she must get to jam with likes of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck or Pete Townsend... I'm sure they would go out of their way accomodate an awesome talent like her.... this is what they did themselves, they played alongside the greats.... I'm sure this would set new standards and give inspiration.. Maybe Andy Aledort could pull a few strings.. Pete Townsend is the best strummer in the world (Desiree's week point) heard him play Pinball on acoustic - absolutely awesome..
