Brilliant. Really brings back memories as I worked at Whiteley's (Receiving Bank and Dispatch Dept) in 1979-80. (Canadian on a working holiday). I used to wander around the closed-down sections of the basement and marvel at the WW II -era signage. Whiteley's basement was obviously an air raid shelter during the Blitz -- and I see some of your footage picked up a sign.

2:17 is the management corridor with the export counter on the left, where we filled out forests of forms so that middle-eastern royalty could get their VAT refunds. Further down the corridor on the left - my office, which led to the MD's office. His desk was the same one used by Mr. Whiteley himself.

Don't remember Maddy. I worked for Tim Daniels who was transferred to Allders and then went on to be MD at Selfridges.

I used to love the food hall, meeting Father Christmas and buying fireworks at Whiteleys.
Also I once saw Billy Fury walking along the ground floor!
