I bought this 12" single back then, in 1988, just because I had a few of their earlier ones.... and when I read on the sleeve that it was an SAW Production, I was even more intrigued.... How utterly pointless this is.... and how utterly 80s, from a certain standpoint. I still have the 12" single, but have not played it since I brought it home that first day in 1988. Nor will I now, I don't think..... lol.... this was enough.

Tony James and Billy Idol were in Gen X together, but to my knowledge never did any work together afterward.

Stock, Aitken & Waterman had their success but SSS was not the one. Sigue Sigue Sputkik was fantastic in 1986-1987 - SAW was fantastic 1984-1989 ...one step in time - now the time has ran out!

I agree, their career pretty much ended when SAW took over. Even this video has the entire SAW crew in it: Sarah from Bananarama, Rick Astley and Kylie. SAW's sound worked for Bananarama and the like but didn't jive with SSS. They were still pretty cutting edge for the 80's.

After Sigue Sigue Sputnik's UK top 3 success in March 1986 with Love Missile, I never imagined that they would work with Stock Aitken Waterman (which by the way are the producers of this song) to release 'Success'. The song did crack the UK Top 40 in November 1988 but only remained in the bottom quarter for a couple of weeks or so. They also had one other UK top 40 hit in June 1986 with 21st Century Boy.
