They're different class of fighters. While MiG-29 is a light fighter, Su-27 is a heavy one (Su is almost 2 times bigger than MiG!). Just like the F-16 versus F-15.

The US and Western pilots are much better due to more flight experience(about 200 hours/year),better training and extensive experience base. Russia doesn't have an industry infrastructure capable of supporting military hardware and thus no First World country has adopted complete Russian weapon systems. Tech transfer is the way to cooperate with Russian.

i don't think this game has teh 44 flyable, but its alwasy easy to shoot down enmy aircraft against the computer, you can go in 4 f-15's and shoot down 20 Su-33's and still survive when the level is all the way up

No, Serbian MiG-29 didn't score any kills in 1999 war whit NATO and US... But I don't blame them, when you send one MiG-29 to fight 4/6/8 (some times even more enemy aircraft) F-15 or F-16 whit AWACS support you cant expect that mig to do anything...

You can use default weapons configuration from list (like you can see on my vide) or click on new and add weapons your selfe

one of the funniest ancedote is that i picked a russian Mig-29 versus an israeli F-15 above the sea, Headon-on, we passed head to head, i squeezed the trigger when he was about 1 miles away, but missed, i said damn, ill have to go swirl dogfight that guy which is not easy thing to do, in the second pass, i put him in sight and in one of his turns to his left i put the gun on him and he was passing to my left under my wing, i fired, i hit him, but he got hit in cockpit and then unable to eject=)

A close match to the F-22 will be PAK FA only. F-22 is a 5th generation fighter that has supercruise, integrated avionics and VLO technology (or stealth if you like it) that puts it way ahead of anything currently in use (well, at least until PAK FA comes out). But, if we consider legacy fighters only, then Su-27/MiG-29 clearly outclass their western counterparts (F-15/F-16).

That's called Pugachev's Cobra maneuver, and it isn't exactly of any big military signifcance. The reason why they are superior is, put simply, because they were designed to overcome teen fighter series (e.g. F-15/F-16/F-18). They are more capable dog-fighters, have better aerodinamic designs, better trust-to-weight rations, and, due to modernisations and continued development, surpass them even in electronics/avioncs and possibly weapons.

I remember a Draaken doing a Cobra maneuver. It is insignificant in real combat. The mig29 is optimised for low speed only and is not better than the F4 at speed and altitude. At low speed,the AH64 will outperform the Migs anyway with their Hellfire missiles.

The F4 was shot down frequently in Vietnam because of wrong tactics. After DACT and other training, the MiG21 had no more chance. This is evidenced by the fact that afterwards only one US-made aircraft was lost in air combat(the F/A-18 downed by a MiG25;but an Iranian F-5 shot down a MiG25 in 1985). The Mig29 has poorer energy management and is the opposite version of the F-104 Starfighter,that is,a low speed point defence interceptor. Many MiG29s also have corrosion.

The radars of export Mig29 versions are from the mig23,that is, radars copied from F4 Phantoms shot down in the Vietnam war. The F4D was retired after 40 years of good servce;however, none of them had airframe corrosion. The mig29 was introduced in the '80s and most of them have airframe corrosion even with much less flight hours.

From 16 Yugoslaviab Mig 29, 6 were shot down, 5 were bombed and 1 crashed last year. And others were shot down(Eritrean,Syrian etc). At least the Mig 25 shot down something without propellers. 1 F15E can shoot down 10 MiG 29s. 1 F16 can about 4-5,1 F4E perhaps 2.

As I remember, it was not even sustained close combat. The F5 just fired an AIM-9 from lower altitude. The Mig25 was shot down multiple times by US-made aircraft. The Mig29 was shot down all the time, thus its combat record being much worse than the unmaneuverable Mig25.Besides, the Mig25 would have had no chance against the planned ,unbuilt Mach 3 F-4 version.

Mig29 can outturn the F4E only at very low speeds. It was designed to intercept enemy bombers and not as an air superiority fighter like the Su27.At speed and altitude , the mig29 is not better maneuverable while range becomes even shorter.I remeber seeing the performance envelope long ago. Aerodynamics remains the same regardless of version. There are photos of Mig29 production which indicate that they are literally hand stitched. Western defence companies have maintained much more rigorous production standards for

decades. High AOA is a waste of fuel and results in loss of energy. An Israeli pilot shot down multiple Mig21s alone with his Mirage by well maintaining energy. In real combat, the F4E has 1:1 kill probability against Su34.

The mig29 is very poor at energy management. In a combat against an F4E, it will have only one chance which it is likely to miss. Then it will lose energy much faster than the F4E which just has to fly at speed and altitude. This is the reason why the mig29 only scored victories against unarmed propeller aircraft,thus being actually worse than the old mig25.

Germany has given away the Mig 29s(one in museum,one crashed) because of their maintenance costs etc. But they were from former NVA,not purchased from Russia. They were replaced by the Eurofighter anyway.One Eurofightwer would have no problems against mig 29 anyway. J-10 has fundamental aerodynamical problems,like the builtup of air between canard and main wing. J10's oversized rudder also indicates related problems.
