Good honest review. I picked up one of these, a "B" series one, after reading the forums. I read the "A" series ones had a number of issues like you encountered. So far about 500 rounds and not a single failure. It works great for the really hot months out here and for the rest of the time I just ordered a Kahr CM9. The one main thing I don't like on the TCP is the gap and loose fit on the bottom of the magazine. But again so far so good.
@Txdartaholic I am glad to hear you TCP is functioning well. I really like the size, weight and trigger pull on it. I just wish I could get it to function at a 100 percent. May do a little gunsmithing on the feeding ramp and the ejection port to see if I can get it to work better.
@FirearmPatriot I found a good thread on taurusarmed with pics for getting better reliability from the TCP. Seems to have helped a number of members out with theirs. I can say the biggest selling point for me was the trigger as you mentioned. Hope you get everything sorted out.
@Txdartaholic Unfortunately, I am still having the same problem with it. Just took it to the range this past weekend and it had sever FTF and FTE. I am going to do a little gunsmithing on the feeding ramp and ejection port. I hope that will correct the issues.
@carr869 I am currently reviewing the PF9 which I really like but have been having some issues with. I may take a look at the P-11. I am a fan of the 9mm round over the .380 ACP.
I wonder if Taurus fixed these. I've had a TCP for months and this is the first I've seen them do any worse than the other comparable .380s out there (LCP, P3at, etc). Every "pocket pistol" .380 I've seen has minor issues in the first 100 rounds or so. That includes the Ruger, of which I have 2 family members who have them.
@MNJustPlainT I hope that they have. I think that most of the problems can be resolved with my weapon by honing the ejection port and polishing the feeding ramp. It may also need a little work on the magazine. I really like the TCP trigger. It is one of the best on the market for a .380. It makes the gun easy to shoot. I know that my local dealer is selling them for $215.99 in the blued finish presently. A good deal if they are without problems.
Yeah nice pistol except that the girl was hit in the head by 2 out of the six ejected cases. When I bought my Taurus TCP .380 I had nothing but problems from the get go. Failure to fire and failure to chamber a round. It was sent back to Taurus twice and still had problems. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this pistol. If you need a .380 get the Ruger. You will have a lot more fun shooting it and spend a hell of a lot less time clearing malfunctions. Taurus LCP .380 = JUNK and a waste of money.
This pocket pistol is great for close quarters confrontations any where from 3 to 15yards.The gun is most accurate at these distances. It has good concealment properties.Easily carried in a pocket with certain holsters;it does not print.I would use this gun when I go out to walk the dog,or go to the gas station mini mart to buy soda or milk, ect. My personal defense round of choice is the hornady critical defense round.I think it's one of the best.
I've put 65 rds thru my new TCP, w/ 1 failure to go to battery. This was w/ a Gold Dot JHP. Otherwise, no malfunctions. I was shooting at 21 to 30 ft, and the gun is plenty accurate. So far, I'm very happry. Mine is a "B" series.
I was interested in this until I saw the rounds bouncing of of your faces! Too bad - seems like Taurus would have addressed that design defect. Back to the Kahr for me!
Lol it's nice to see someone who can shoot this gun. I owned one of these for about 2 months and absolutely hated it. I just couldn't get used to it. The sights are horrible imo. I couldn't hit a 5 inch circle from 5 feet away lol, and it felt like it was gonna fly out of my hand every shot, even with a good solid grip. Plus it just plain hurts your hand to shoot it. Traded it in asap. Just wasn't the gun for me or my buddies. Thats why I like to see you showing that it actually can be shot well
@TheFireArmorer I have small hands which makes it easier for me to shoot these small handguns. I prefer to shoot larger calibers but these 380s are handy for pocket carry especially in hot weather. Thanks for the compliment.
@TheFireArmorer Seriously I was impressed with your shots. I know first hand how hard it is to place shots well with this gun, and given the nature of the gun you did great.
@FirearmPatriot Look at the video and her stance, her shoulders are behind her hips, doesn't have a good grip on the weapon, and her arms are loose. Maybe if she didn't have all those things going wrong for her she wouldn't seem so scared of shooting something with recoil, such as the TCP. No offense, just sayin...
@dewitforgod1 Those issue have been discussed. Video certainly allows for a person to see what is wrong and to correct it after review. Thank you for your comment.
@bfgguns I'd be scared too if I was getting popped in the face by hot brass half the time I fired it. My initial interest of buying one has been severely diminished.
I think I'm going to look at the Ruger LCP or the S&W Bodyguard 380 instead. Here in Florida, during the hot months (all nine of them) it's hard to carry a larger size pistol in shorts and a t-shirt.
This is a very informative video I own a tcp also and the points you made (good and bad) are all true. If they get the reliability of of the tcp fixed it will be a nice gun. Mine was returned twice so far once for failure to feed then got it back and failure to eject haven't been back out to shoot it yet since last repair but extractor was replaced. so hopefully it'll be fine. If not back to trade it in. Great video thanks for sharing.

Check out the Kel-Tec P-11 It looks to be a pretty decent weapon for its price. Around $200.00

Heather is shooting good although she seems a bit scared when the shots go off. =)

@bfgguns The recoil on the TCP is substantial for her. Certainly this would be a consideration for a female shooter.
