Watched these (and the others) again as the room I've just moved into has an HD telly I can plug the PC into. They look fantastic when watched on a proper TV screen, as opposed to a PC.
Wow. I have watched these credits before but I just noticed for the first time, you can see the poem (from Marilyn and Don Fisher's wedding) in the sea during Marilyn's pre-credit shot. Am I the first one to notice this? "Andrewsmiith", that is what I call attention to detail, these credits are amazing. Please make more!
@HomeAwayBeau I'm glad you noticed that :D It faded (and blurred) a lot from the first time I inserted it there, but yeah, it's there. I think it's nice for opening credits to feature little hidden quirks that you'd notice only after the 220th time of seeing them, it hastens the inevitable "these are boring, change them now!!" thoughts.
@Andrewsmiith Me again (your video has had 18,534 views, 18,000 of which were probably me, I watch it all the time!). Anyway, those "hidden quirks" you mentioned, are there any more? There seems to be a figure in the background of Marilyn's shot. And is there something in the reflection of John Palmer's windscreen? Also what are all those bottles in front of Miles (my favourite clip)? Was that in the original scene?
@HomeAwayBeau Wow how on earth did you make out it was that specific poem!? I saw words there but couldn't particularly make sense of them. Nice touch Andrew!
@AlexxAlexander I was intrigued to make out what the words were so i tilted my laptop screen (to make the picture darker) and saw the words "dark and bright" and instantly knew it was that poem as it is a poem that I love by Lord Byron and also always remembered it from Maz and Don's wedding. I wish that clip was on here somewhere! Are you Alexx from backtothebay? I seem to agree with you on just about everything on there.
@HomeAwayBeau That poem is very poignant and I loved how Fisher used it to demonstrate his feelings for Marilyn and then they named their son Byron. I think it is still on the official H&A website. Yep its Alexx from BTTB! :)
This is great, best one you've done that I've seen so far.
However, a few tweaks you could do by way of improvement is to reconsider the positioning of Alf's shot. It's common practice to feature longer-serving cast members' shots earlier on, as a nod to their longer tenures.
The way that some of the credits emerge from being obscured by objects is clever, but in Lynn Collingwood's case, I'd have had the name always being there but passing under the pole; rather than suddenly appearing.
@pufferfishish I agree about Colleen's shot. I think that was the last shot I added to the sequence and I rushed to get it finished, and so, settled with it appearing behind the pole.
I disagree regarding Alf though. I think it's nice to have the more established characters scattered at different points in the sequence (the later the better), if the oldies appear early on, the latter half of the credits is like....."and the rest".
OMG!!! I looked at the video first and thought it was just awesome...then I read the description and discovered that you had done it yourself and was even more impressed!!
I honestly thought it had been done professionally by network 7 or whoever normally do the opening titles...
You should be well proud of yourself Andrew, you have done a top notch job, that I still can't believe wasn't done by a pro... your now that pro!!!!
The style, the images, the editing... all fantastic. One of the best efforts I have ever seen. And most importantly, completely original. There is nothing to hate about this video. I even liked how you used a Japanese character in your description as a smilie. Fantastic and well done.
I forgot to add my only complaint - and it's VERY minor, is that you didn't include the character names. I have always thought that the credits should show the character in action and not the actor, and your credits definately show the character, so it makes sense to have the character name above the actor name. Plus, it's the classic Home and Away way.
Kudos for including Morag! Why oh why haven't they included her in this year's storylines?
Ahhhh the shot of Miles is amazing. And Charlie! This is right up there with - possibly even better than - the mid 90s credits (everybody's favourite version).
I wish so much they would bring back the theme and the credits, and make them like this. The past few years the credits have been really bad, and then dropped altogether. You have shown what they could achieve with a little imagination and effort
@npatricktv I quite agree. I think it is an awful mistake to drop the credits the way they have. For me the past ten years have shown a continual decline in quality and 'feel' for the show, the way they have just continually gone down the gimmicky route with animated fish, picture frames, pink photo montages and all that nonsense. Don't they realise a good set of credits can really sell the show? You don't see Neighbours without credits! lol
wow so much changed

@HomeAwayBeau - Well spotted!
- In the reflection behind Marilyn, is Marilyn again, outside doing her yoga thing. Sort of a reference to the old Natalie Nash shot...
- Infront of Miles is actually a chess table and no, it was not there originally :)
- In the windscreen is Gina sitting on a bench, as to link the two opening shots.
The only other little 'touch' is the 'mother/baby' shot sandwiched between Morag and Miles. I'll let you figure out why I thought it was relevant :P
