my friend has 2 of them sweetest things on earth but last time i went over a became came ill after i left. Her sister said it mite be from the fur but im not sure. Ahhhhhh!!! i love them soooooo much but i cant afford to become sick again...... its not like i never seen them b4 i seen them dozens of time and felt fine. Something about their anal sweat glands, and once you get them neutered you cant notice the smell

actually neutering and removing the sweat glands are 2 different things. and from all the stuff I've read the sweat glands don't even HAVE to be removed. what happens is when they are scared or surprised they do what ferret lovers call 'poofing' and its no worse, and lasts no longer than if you or I farted. Which is why some people believe its wrong and is mutilating the ferret to remove a ferrets anal glands.

@kingsnakelover33 yes a ferret loves toys and the food you feed them has to either be made for ferrets or high protein cat food with at least 30% protein,18-20% fat and no more than 6% fiber.You can either keep them caged or let them run around the house though if you let them run around the house make sure you ferret proof it as in no ways to get into cupboards and such they will learn to use a litter pan but don't use cllay litter or any dusty litter bc clay will actually harden and suffocate

It varies between ferret, and peoples personal opinions. Easiest way is to go find one in a pet store and see what it smells like. I personally like the smell of ferrets, some people think it's the most revolting smell ever. Most people who say they smell bad, have never actually smelled one though.

They remind me of a cross between a rat and a kitty. I've had rats, they're real cute if you pay enough attention to them. I just couldn't stand the heartbreak of them dying on me all the time. They only live two to three years. I've also had kitties, and they look like they're affectionate in that same way that they like to rub their faces against your hand. Unfortunately, ferrets are illegal in California.
