this trailer, when i saw it before the game came out, made me cry. i thought we were going to have the scariest, deepest, darkest SH game EVER, and after playing 1-3 so many times back in that time period, i was PSYCHED for this... this trailer had me sold. sadly, i didnt really find the game all that scary, deep, or dark. was so thouroughly disappointed... the game had a lot of potential, but something about it just failed to truly be scary.
I love this game! it took me and a friend 9 hours to complete haha, scary.
I own all silent hill games and are now struggling with origins PSP version, damn, the sounds are even creepier! The chars are so funny and emo, specially Henry haha, and I love the "forget it!" action when you wanna take the stairs
This is what the american company under silent hill downpour should do, really creepy stuff like this not the hollywood horror thing, like in silent hill homecoming, they based the whole game under the movie theme. please bring us back the good stuff
I had really hoped that some of the music from this trailer would be on the soundtrack (specifically 3:06 - 3:17, 4:46 - 5:23 and the industrial SH1 sounding music immediately after) but the only thing that made it seems to be The Last Mariachi. Disappointing considering that OST had the lowest amount of tracks overall. I would have gladly sacrificed the vocal tracks in exchange for them!

SH3 is the one that ruined my mind! I was around 16 when it came out! I was like "AUAUAUUUAUUUUGHHHHHHHHGHHHH!" And for a week straight I couldn't sleep at night and was scared of turning out my lights at nightfall. NO JOKE.
Why is it that they always do this. A developer stops working on a a good series and hands the work over to another team. From there the series goes downhill. It happened to Silent Hill now its happening to Bioshock and Fallout
this is the game that gave me the most trouble out of the series for getting stuck and getting the jeezus crisis scared out of me... i made it to one ending.... three more to go.

I've been playing Homecoming on and off the last few weeks. It's good so far...
But when I look back I I still think out of all the Silent Hill games that I've played so far the story and atmosphere in Silent Hill 4 has had the biggest impact on me.
Silent Hill alway's has such catching trailer's and one of the best as a horror game in my opinion.This game is really a great game,it make's you think.What I like most about it like 1 and 2 had,there's always more than one ending.

@ISeeWhatYouDidThere7 Actually, they were innocent children that Walter killed, the 7th and 8th victims of 21 sacraments, they went to heaven because they were innocent children, but he tried to reincarnate them(or something like that) as a monster to show they weren't fully pure.

Just watching this trailer made my heart start to pound! I'm not one of those scary movie/games person..I don't watch scary movies but I must play Silent Hill games..just because they are that awesome.

Thank you. To be honest, I actually like this game better than 3. Silent Hill 4 took more risks and has a far more interesting premise and setting because of it. 3 is good, but It just felt so generic in comparison to the others.

@MrKillerRaven It was because the game was released unpolished and half-finished. It needed work. It's not like it didn't have good stuff in it - it just didn't gel like it should have.
This is hands down the best trailer I've ever seen for a game. I shat brix watching it when it was first released, and 5 years later I'm still shatting brix.
the sound on this trailer is out of sync, in the original one the music starts at the konami screen and the atmosphere is much more intense than in the later versions of it, ive been tryin to find it every where, it was a genuinly scary short film. does anyone know where to find it?
I rented it, played it for two days and got the bad ending (work kept me from being on it all day haha) Then I bought it and it is still a favourite of mine. :)

its pretty good, the storyline moves kinda slow but there is plenty of scares, and the only time theres monsters is in nightmare mode and then you just run from them

Origins and homecoming had practically no originality, both had frustrating game play (The room was a bit more frustrating than the first 3 but not as bad as homecoming) and both had over all weak plots. So I ask you how are Origins and Homecoming are better than The Room which had an original (and good) plot and overall had plenty of originality?

Except that almost all of the major influences of the original Silent Hill are from western horror, not eastern. Silent Hill 4 appears to have a somewhat more pronounced eastern flair, but it wasn't even intended as a Silent Hill game originally, so I can't help but feel like you have no clue what you're talking about.
Yeah, compared to recent Shattered Memories trailer it's like 9000 times creepier, and that's not even the best game of the series (although probably the scariest)
This is probably the only game trailer that has really creeped me out. I love the creative use of sounds and visuals in this trailer to disturb the viewer. The sound of the creaking door, the moaning sounds of the ghosts, and of course the iconic industrial music of the series. Strangely, it seems as though the most disturbing visuals come from ones that have a somewhat "human" element, such as the ghosts and that bizarre head with the scars and the crazy, shifting eyes.

it originally wasnt meant to even be a silent hill game, it was supposed to be something different, hence the different game play and the fact its not set in silent hill. you see pieces of silent hill like taluca lake in it, but i dont know why they decided to make it one of the silent hill games at the last minute.
personally i think the trailer is absolutely lovely and terrifying. it has this unique horror to it which i really love. the game i was a little disappointed with, but you can see their intentions through this trailer and i think they had their heads screwed on right; just not tight enough

Yes, everything is technically shown- as in locales and creatures- but not the scenes. Like the ghosts coming out of the ceiling, seeing the Otherworld through the keyhole, the victim writing on himself with the magic marker... where the hell was all of that?
It's as if Konami had 100 more story scenes for us and cut them all.
I am a fanatic of SH, but I will have to say, nothing had an impression on me like SH2 when it first came out for PS2.. had no memory card to save..started playing at 9 at night, had school the next day.. play until 6am.. left game paused, went to school, came back and played, repeated the cycle til i beat the game
All the silent hill games are amazing to me, so different to anything else and has the kind of darkness/atmoshere as Jacobs Ladder and Twin Peaks. Quality game to get into when your battered too ;)
Just a shame about the film and SH5, what a load of bollucks.

This was a very over looked game in the series.
Very good. Not as good as silent hill 2.

It has problems but the story is better than 1 3 or 5. I doubt we'll see something that can hold a candle to the simple atmosphere of SH2 though.

Silent hill 1 = 10/10 Masterpiece
Silent hill 2 = 10/10 Masterpiece = The Best Game Ever Made
Silent hill 3 = 10/10 Masterpiece following story from the firs one.
Silent hill 4 = 7/10 Very very scary
Silent hill origins = 9/10 Looks like first one
Silent hill Homecoming = 8/10 Greet game but hard to completed

its pretty good, the storyline moves kinda slow but there is plenty of scares, and the only time theres monsters is in nightmare mode and then you just run from them

Shattered Memories is unlike the others. YES it's wonderful as long as you love Silent Hill...and having the shit scared out of you.
Good News: you get an iphone
Bad News: It's all you ever have (no weapons; it isnt a fighting game; it's 100% survival)
It's an altered storyline of the original Silent Hill; and that the ending does not change if you die or not, but everyone's character.
BTW don't expect anything to be the same once you play it a second time. oh and Cybil is in the diner.

@Humeir24 I know this is an old comment but you rated homecoming and origins higher than 4? Origins and homecoming had practically no originality, both had frustrating game play (The room was a bit more frustrating than the first 3 but not as bad as homecoming) and both had over all weak plots. So I ask you how are Origins and Homecoming are better than The Room which had an original (and good) plot and overall had plenty of originality?

Except that almost all of the major influences of the original Silent Hill are from western horror, not eastern. Silent Hill 4 appears to have a somewhat more pronounced eastern flair, but it wasn't even intended as a Silent Hill game originally, so I can't help but feel like you have no clue what you're talking about.

This is probably the only game trailer that has really creeped me out. I love the creative use of sounds and visuals in this trailer to disturb the viewer. The sound of the creaking door, the moaning sounds of the ghosts, and of course the iconic industrial music of the series. Strangely, it seems as though the most disturbing visuals come from ones that have a somewhat "human" element, such as the ghosts and that bizarre head with the scars and the crazy, shifting eyes.

it originally wasnt meant to even be a silent hill game, it was supposed to be something different, hence the different game play and the fact its not set in silent hill. you see pieces of silent hill like taluca lake in it, but i dont know why they decided to make it one of the silent hill games at the last minute.

personally i think the trailer is absolutely lovely and terrifying. it has this unique horror to it which i really love. the game i was a little disappointed with, but you can see their intentions through this trailer and i think they had their heads screwed on right; just not tight enough

This trailer is indeed scarier than the game itself.
I suspect it would have been different had half the stuff in this trailer had been, you know, in the actual game.
Yes, everything is technically shown- as in locales and creatures- but not the scenes. Like the ghosts coming out of the ceiling, seeing the Otherworld through the keyhole, the victim writing on himself with the magic marker... where the hell was all of that?
It's as if Konami had 100 more story scenes for us and cut them all.

I am a fanatic of SH, but I will have to say, nothing had an impression on me like SH2 when it first came out for PS2.. had no memory card to save..started playing at 9 at night, had school the next day.. play until 6am.. left game paused, went to school, came back and played, repeated the cycle til i beat the game

All the silent hill games are amazing to me, so different to anything else and has the kind of darkness/atmoshere as Jacobs Ladder and Twin Peaks. Quality game to get into when your battered too ;)
Just a shame about the film and SH5, what a load of bollucks.
