  • 4:28 is that Hamilton?

  • @McCathcon er, no, that's Jefferson.

  • "May the name of Washington be a rampart"

  • Oh a time when being the President meant so much more than delivering lip service. When the President actually stuck to and enforced the laws of the Founding Fathers. True Americans running the country. Where have those days gone? :/

  • 2:45 -- the three greatest presidents of all time .. in one shot

  • @ELIAXTRO John Adams had a rather poor administration. Lincoln is not there...and neither is FDR

  • @ELIAXTRO I never got the amount of love some of these guys get. I personally like Adams more than Jefferson, but I wouldn't call Adams one of our "greatest", though he is personally one of my favorites. As for Jefferson, all his love for the constitution seemingly went out of the window once he became President.

  • @McCathcon I said they are the three greatest presidents because they were the first three, not that I actually believe that to be true. But.. I do have much more respect for the first three than I have for the last three.

  • I just realized the music in this scene is the same from when the colonies voted to declare Independence.

  • On this 4th of July 2011 I poured my coffee early this morning, sat at my computer (after taking the dogs outside) and started watching clips of this most outstanding film. I weep... not because of "our" current state of affairs as a nation.... because these men (and women) were so eloquent with their writings and proper use of language. That seems to be lost now, and that IS a tragedy. These people sacrificed all to ensure that we have what we have today.

  • A little a head of it's time, but there are the first three Presidents of the United States up there.

  • What movie was this?! :D

  • @MrGeorge2220 It's an HBO mini series called John Adams.

  • Love this Movie!!!!!!!

  • Only white men were allowed to vote

  • @88Willhur at there time there was also no concept of endangered species. what's your point? it's all the fault of the founders that history did not progress fast enough?

  • @spyletu what a ridiculous statement, morality did exist, it wasnt a scientific discovery waiting to happen, morality could have told jefferson sleeping with his 15 year old slave was wrong, but to jefferson and the others slaves were INHUMAN, jefferson was brilliant as were the founders, but lets not engage in revisionist history, they greated a system that benefited white protestant men of property, their efforts led to the glorious system we have today...in spite of them

  • @88Willhur only white men were allowed to vote. and only those who worked for decades and have an understanding of social and political affairs at that, too. it's a fact. what you make, spin of it out of personal angst (however strange that is, since you have no personal recollection of being enslaved), is entirely your business.

  • there is not one man to thank for the usa...but if there were it would be John Adams

  • I would really like to see a series like this about all the founding father presidents. But i know that would cost a lot of money lol.

  • I must get this important miniseries.

  • George Washington: I am fairly out, and you(John Adams) are fairly in. See which of us will be the happiest.

I wonder if this is similar to what James Buchanan said to Abraham Lincoln:

If you are as happy in entering the White House as I shall feel on returning to Wheatland, you are a happy man.

  • @ThomasAnime

Buchanan would have said: I've Passed the Morril Tarrif as you asked. Don't let the "UNION" Pacific fall.

  • Adams is the one of the most underrated presidents in history.

We are doing a fake election in my honors US history class, and i think i am the only person supporting Adams. That's shameful on their part.

  • People always forget about him when naming the best presidents in history. They underestimate him, overestimate Jefferson, and overestimate Andrew Jackson. Honestly. How can you call someone that forced the cruel and inhumane removal of so many Native American tribes one of the best presidents ever? Linco

  • For the 1st time in any history ONE man gave up his(washington) Power to another to support OUR( America) beliefs. Adams did not blame but took oath to uphold HIS American Constitution. There was no PARTY. It was America.

  • To be sure.

How is it that I didn't come across the book

As A Man Thinketh until I was nearly 30, while in high school they had us reading rubbish like Death of A Salesman?

The school system is still setup to produce factory workers.

  • What a great scene from the HBO series! Adams, although he was grievously in error to institute the oppressive "Alien & Sedition Acts,"a forerunner of the noxious neo-Nazi "Patriot Act," nevertheless towers over most of his pathetic successors, several of whom were liars, thieves, and murderers.

  • just like all liberals

  • If by liberal you mean a staunch supporter of gun rights, free-market capitalism and small government, then I must not be conservative.

You need to do a little more research on Mr. TJ, sir.

  • @smo699

Thomas Jefferson was the liberal of THAT AGE! Back then saying someone should own a gun was like somebody saying now you could own a dog

  • Thank God we did not elect Aaron Burr! He would have Nixon to shame in his avarice!

  • wow! Thx1138d... I haven't seen one person on youtube comments speak that properly.

  • @Thx1138d Are you a New World Order Freemason or just deluded by the lies your teachers taught you? Burr was the target of relentless slandering by that corrupt homosexual imperalist illuminati traitor Alexander Hamilton; we would have done well with Burr. In fact, everything you've been taught about history is a lie.

  • What I would give to have a congress full of the founding fathers.

  • one minor detail, they would all be irate that blacks are free now

  • You'd think that only if you have absolutely no idea what the founders thought about slavery. It's quite the opposite of your comment.

  • okay fine, some were for it some were against it, but there were notable ones that definetely supported slavery

  • Agreed. The ignorance of the average public sckrooled children of today is staggering.

  • They are not to blame; the lies and ignorance are fed to them daily by teachers who do not educate them to ask questions, reason, and think for themselves. The "powers that be" don't want an educated populace; an educated populace would immediately overthrow the tyrants in Washington D.C.

  • Hard to believe you said that. Did you know...I guess not, that the original Declaration of Independence included the abolition of slavery ? But, they knew it was too much too soon, and grieved the entire matter.

  • @smttysmth02gt including the slave owners? ;)

  • @oehieze The only reason one would make a comment such as you have, is out of pure ignorance on the matter. I'd suggest reading about how the founders felt about slavery prior to posting potentially derogatory comments about them.

  • @smttysmth02gt The problem with the FF's and Slvz is that while they did feel strongly about abolishing it; they felt it was a matter not for their hands. To them the US was an infant and to abolish slavery so early on in their minds and logic would have ruined the infstructure of their new nation. Just how much that is true and if that would have been the case is something we can never explore. Histoy is written in stone in this case, there is no need to fight the truth of it ; It happened.

  • @smttysmth02gt I agree, I mean Thomas Jefferson LOVED his slaves, especially the 15 year old sally hemings he was sleeping with....that's what we need mroe of today, men with character like Jefferson

  • @oehieze John Adams, Jefferson, Washington etc all believed slavery was an abomination. (Adams never owned slaves) You have to understand the times. Although it wasnt right to have slaves looking back now, owning slaves was like today owning TVs or cars, or refrigerators. There were alot of slave owning founding fathers that thought it was wrong. In fact Jefferson and Washington freed their slaves just before they died.

  • @abnoceans12 ummm...you are WRONG, Jefferson only freed teh slaves produced through his "relationship" with 15 year old sally hemings, i.e. HIS children, all the other slaves on his plantation were sold off or remained slaves, in fact Jefferson was so afraid of blacks, he said free them and then ship them to Liberia, a BRILLIANT man, but lets not engage in revisionist history here

  • @smttysmth02gt

    You are not alone =)

  • @smttysmth02gt I wish I could vote up your comment 5 million times....so I'll just say it instead.

  • @smttysmth02gt Don't romanticize men to serve your discontent.

  • @smttysmth02gt except for aaron burr

  • It's funny how the candidates didn't campaign back then, they thought it was beneath them haha.

  • Well they didn't campaign to the general population because the electoral college voted for president, but they did have coalitions that pandered to them. Granted, political machines had not been created yet, but campaigns were still pretty fierce; it was actually included in this miniseries that the jefferson campaign called adams a hermaprodite.

  • awsme

  • great stuff
