Great video. Lots of myths about these cool looking creatures. They rarely eat cats/small dogs. In NH they did a research project where they examined the remains of 1,000 of them over a 7 year period. Only one had cat hair in its stomach. They were hunted to the verge of extinction in the 1920's due to pelt value. The biggest problem is for farmers who have them kill chickens. Don't shoot these guys, they do more good than harm.
@songvidtroll i find that very hard to believe its where you live that counts fishers over here have been respoibsile for a lot of deaths of cats and small dogs they carrie rabies here.
i got one in my area killed 5 different cats of my own and like 4 of me nabors cats MY GOG MY MOM WONT GET A GUN AND LET SOME BODY KiLL it but thay dont know were it is and thay are to scared
They also introduced them to keep the wild bird and coyote population in check. As a result however, they've grown far out of proportion to other species.
Thanks; I just saw one in my back yard at around dusk. It borders a forest area, a good habitat. I thought I was crazy! Never seen one before. But this is it! Now I know we have heard it too.

they introduced fishers into the eastern part of Connecticut thinking they would stay there because of the Connecticut river-then the river froze

The Maine Fisher is a symbol of strength and enemies of a Fisher should flee.
