  • hey can you make a tutorial on the double axe

  • A couple of the first weapons I saw made me skeptical, but then that gorgeous hammer showed up, and that very very nice double axe. However, with your comment about scars on the weapon from repairs to damaged cores, I think you can weave them into a chaotic look and make the weapon look better. Maybe if you have a broken one laying around, you could show us an example? =D

  • That hammer was pretty good!

  • @VVProductionsChannel Thank you - and it is!

  • I'd rather use a mold and make it out of one solid piece of foam. (which i know how to do)

  • @bloxingisfun true - that might make a much sturdier and more detailed weapon... but few people have access to tools needed to make that. I've tried to make molds for latex casting... and its very difficult.

  • I knew I recognised the music.... Turns out it WAS Gurren Lagann...

  • "Paladin production presents"

already love this video. Paladin is my favorite class :D

  • So I make this kinda stuff outta cardboard being a convenient material. is it just as bad as paper mache or not really? just looking for suggestions and that material. (also is there different types of LARP?)

  • WTB Your 2:26 :P You are soo awesome.

  • @Dalst123 I think it would be at lot faster and easier for you to make something like that yourself :3 but thanks

  • @webkilla Yeah, yeah I suppose. Thank-you very much for the video!

  • Great video, and I know you know its fast, but DAMN. so parts took real timing to pause on LOL... my friends and I play airsoft, not LARP, but we are doing a zombie apocalypse game for halloween and using melee weapons as well as firearms... so we started looking at what could be used as material for melee combat, and tada! Your vid appeared. So far, we have baseball bats, swords, and a fireaxe made, working on a sledgehammer and lead pipe... and other items, such as TVs, fire extinguishers etc

  • @link808ninja Glad to be useful. Although if you want to do it zombie style, do keep this in mind: Anything you want to make to throw (making foam bricks or stones is EASY) should never have a core rod in it. this includes throwing knives and hatchets. Trust me on this. ya, it makes them look a bit wibbly wobbly, but if there's a glassfiber rod in a throwing knife it will slowly eat its way out and at some point poke an eye out. thats bad. and post pics from the zombie thing! i wanna see!

  • @link808ninja IF you like fireaxes, lead pipes, ect. and stuff you should check out he dark moon collection of larp weapons, that's what theyre all about. Lead pipes, baseball bats, sledgehammers, even wrenches and stuff.

  • Great video, thanks for making it. Your weapons look great.

  • @eichermacher thank you :)

  • 3:14 you can put on the latex sort of like paper mache? thanks! subed friended!

  • @goldedrago in theory, yes. however, I've never seen it done - and in my experience then papermache is a lot more rigid when dry. A foam rubber 'skeleton' of whatever you're making will make what you're making more flexible. if you're not aiming for flexible, then why bother with latex? then again, I dont know what you're making :3

  • @webkilla i want it to feel like the professionals swords that are covered in latex if i cant ill probilly just use duct tape lol

  • @goldedrago you're making a sword in papermache? Ok. I would advice against that. papermache, like i said, becomes HARD and STIFF when dry. You dont want that. It will hurt others to be whacked with. you'll want to make it out of foam. like a bed-roll. I'm sure you can get a cheap one at a wallmart or something. just a half-inch or three quarter inch foam mat. Use three bamboo sticks as a core, fix them together with ductape. make sure to use double-sided tape to glue the sticks to the foam.

  • I think I may have heard this music before but am unsure of the name...

  • @primeEmu16 its from Tengen Toppan Guren Lagan

  • @webkilla Ah ty I had a feeling it was the battle theme of some anime that I saw.

  • What's with the "DO NOT ASK ME WHERE TO GET ANY OF IT DUMBASS!!!" part?

  • @jetsal Its simple really. If someone from the US, or some other country posts "Omg that stuff is awesome, where do I buy liquid latex?" then I can't really help them - not being from there. And trust me, it hasn't stopped a lot of idiots from asking anyway

  • @webkilla

    Thanks for clearing that up.

  • Just don't try to use those Weapons on European LARP's, since we have other Safety-masures over here. We use an adhesive called "Pattex" to glue our Mattress safely to the core and to itself, which also allows for more detailed designes. Also, we use leather to cover the tips of our Fibercores, which is to prevent the core from poking trough the Foam. And amongst other stuff we don't just use any Acryllic paint. Some components don't! go well with Latex that are common in some Acryl paints.

  • @Noizebazille adhesives, glue, double-sided tape - it honestly doesn't matter what you use to stick the foam to the cores. And leather as a core-tip protection? I guess that could work, but it depends on what weapon you're making. As for paints, then what I use is acryllic and its worked flawlessly. I guess other brands might not work, but that would be up to trial and error. Maybe I just got lucky

  • @webkilla

Its a chemical thing, really. Some paints that have metal-ingrediants (often common in Metallic-acrylic paints) will cause the Latex to over time decompose. Its a phenomenon we call "Latex-Cancer" in Germany. It also WILL affect other weapons that come in contact with "cancerous" latex over a period of time. In Europe we're being pretty bitchy about Weaponry being built in unusual ways, as to minimize risk of injury.

  • @webkilla

I kind of like the Idea of using Cloth with the Latex tho I am wondering if that doesn't make the latex too stiff. I realize American Fighting is really more a thing of winning rather than style, and you guys are hitting way harder because of that, so you do need to make your weapons more durable and well, clunkier for more padding. I'd like to show you a tutorial of how we make our LARP-Weapons, but unfortunately I can't think of any thats translated into english.

  • @Noizebazille ...danish, not american - this is totally danish style LARP weapon crafting. And the cloth does not make it stiff - although it does make it less 'stretchy' - but your weapon shouldn't be stretching to begin with, so thats ok. it actually makes it easier to make finer detailed bits more exposed, as they'll be less likely to be ripped off when fighting.

  • @Noizebazille I've never heard of it here in denmark

  • you look like a Viking @.@ Thor son of Oden

  • @MsRachelHalpin Why thank you - because I am a scandinavian, so the viking look sort of comes naturally to me :)

  • @webkilla awesome \m/

  • @MsRachelHalpin You spelled Odin wrong. You insult me with your ignorance.

  • @eichermacher You insult me with your snootyness.

  • Can yuo explain a little more about the silicone spray you use on the weapons?

it is some kind of lubricant isn't?

  • @Doradanis1 It can in theory be used as a lubricant. It serves two purposes: 1) un-sprayed, a latex weapon can be very sticky. Silicone spray does indeed lubricate so as to prevent weapons sticking together. 2) Latex weapons are made of much the same material as rubber bands - and react the same to drying out: They become brittle and crack. Silicone spray keeps the latex moist, keeping it sturdy. Without regular maintenance (1 spray on all latex surfaces a month) the weapon will wear out fast.

  • Nice tutorial. Informative, funny, and detailed where it matters.

  • @vaerros I am to please

  • thank you so much you saved me im from iceland and there are no LARP shops here in iceland thou we icelanders love to fight but anyway i wasnt able to get it from internet shops and send it to the land because the shipping cost is so much now and i wanted to build my own and im making an action movie and wanted to build a realistic baseball batt and some other realistic weapons but anwyay thank you so much :D

  • What's the music at the end of the video? And very nice tutorial :P!

  • @anto8905 Simply search the phrase "party hard" on youtube - that'll show it

  • What were the weapons at 0:20 ?

  • @goldedrago Bladed Tonfas. Not particularly practical to fight with honestly, but they were fun to make

  • @webkilla cool thanks

  • Nice

  • @dannix98 thank you

  • seriously you have to larp with legolas swords best shit evar in my class we went to a prov park and 28 kids ctf larp funnest thing evar

  • @p3w3n legolas swords? but their design is so boring. tell you what: I have other LARP weapon vids on my channel, look at them: they're far more awesome than legolulz swords

  • haha protip SMEAR THAT SHIT ON WITH FULL FORCE >;O

  • @Sorrowforliving good times :3

  • tamyia paint is awesome, use it

  • what's the music? Its pretty nice for the style of the video. Can you tell me the name of the music please?

  • @anto8905 its from the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - OST - Disc2 - track 06 - called "BafBaf! Sonna ni Moeru no ga...Suki kai?" - gotta love weird japanese track names...

  • hee cool video, can you maybe make a turtorial how to make bracers for larp?

    greetz,

  • @djessie12 bracers are probably the easiest thing to make - plus, I already have all the armor I need... so I doubt i'll be doing any 'how to make armor' bits any time soon, but I'll keep it in mind

  • Oh man... please... do a tutorial on the tonfas! I'm begging you!

  • @RyuMomochi they're not that complicated. just do as if making a regular sword, but find a way to connect a handle sideways. i did it by using a short wooden rod for handle, drilling a hole in it, and fitting the weapon core through that.

  • I know this video is pretty old, but i am pretty interested in making the hammer. Is it just basically a box made out of the camp mat foam?

  • @gooboy780 in a word: yes - but the inside of the box is also strengthened with internal mat foam 'girders', plus the hollow sections are largely filled with the usually soft yellow mattress foam.

  • @gooboy780 in a word: yes - but the inside of the box is also strengthened with internal mat foam 'girders', plus the hollow sections are largely filled with the usually soft yellow mattress foam.

  • yay my weapon is done, did it 2 or 3 days ago.

took about 1 hour. I cut the rod down quite a bit and planned on a longsword, but after making room for the handle it was more like a claymore, so I guess I got the 2h I wanted except that it is round ^^

gonna make a video or 5 of the making soon I guess.

  • hmm I see, but my iron rod is more of a pole, it was just something that came with the garage, it bends to some degree, but it stops quite early.

since it is hallow I thought it might be fine if I used 5 layers of foam for the sword and then maybe a bit more on the blade sides.

  • @rogantu well, it always sucks to have your weapon rejected where you want to play - you could always simply ask with where you wanna use the weapon if what you plan to make is ok with them.

  • @webkilla well what if I never tell them I used an iron rod? :)

just make it soft enough to pass the weapons check, MOAHAHAHA

  • @rogantu where i play that'd be grounds for perma-ban if ever discovered... but its your choice

  • @webkilla well it will be my first weapon so I'm gonna check with myself if it is soft enough and inform them at the weapons check IF I decide to use it.

the first is just for practice, but if I find fiberglass or glassfiber rods I'm gonna use those.

  • @rogantu i would still check with where you'd wanna use those weapons - testing on yourself is only... its only ok when you're absolutely sure that its good enough already

  • @webkilla thanks for all the info, I'm gonna look after those fiber rods or poles after school.

good thing I brought ~100 dollars with me :)

  • glassfiber rod, pvc or iron/steel rods which do you think will hold longest and which do you preffer?

  • @rogantu where i play then iron/steel rods are simply not allowed. they're too heavy, would hurt people. glassfiber is the best. its light, will bend (so wont break) when horsing around with it. pvc and plastics can bend and snap (tried that, it sucked)

  • These builds are not that appealing. Not only do they violate the rules, but lack quality design. Might last on the shelf, but never countless battles.

  • @TheRealSpoony Right, an american coming and telling that my designs are illegal - relative to what oh sage genius? I am a DANISH LARPer - by the rules of my local LARP club, these weapons are perfectly fine. The fine print, you must read it (such as checking out what country i am from by reading my details in my channel) before making stupid comments. also you lost the game.

  • 2:35 looks so badass

  • @stuuffie His name was "Stafu", kicker off ass, and taker of names. fun guy, didn't afraid of anything :3

  • Im gonna try larping some time just for the hell of it and my weapon will be a scythe

  • @ChrisWays I'd be careful about that. what you first wanna do is find a club, group or whatever that hosts a LARP - then check out their rules. they'll usually also contain guidelines for people who want to make their own weapons. this could be rules on padding, what kind of weapons are allowed or not, that kind of thing. the problem with a scythe is that you might poke someone in the eye with it - plus, the bend will be a bitch to make... trust me - but hey, go nuts dude

  • nice Armour at 00:4, your gloves are the best...

:p nice movie Btw.. very very nice... i've learnd very mutch with this. ty

  • @Greenvechter if you have any questions just send a PM or ask here. but ya, its all good. :3

  • @Greenvechter um... i mean 0:40

  • would you be able upload a video showing how you actually make a mace/hammer because im stuck on the part on adding crumble zones

  • @SantiBajaPanti Experiment. just try to make something that works - thats what i did originally. i doubt i'll be making any more hammers any time soon...

  • whats the theme for this and good weopons

  • @tenjuzacky what the theme is? its some music from an anime series called TTGL or something. and good weapons? you will have to specify what you are asking about there.

  • @webkilla like the hammer at 0:39

  • Really easy to follow... I like it. I gotta get my shit together and actually try following this / making a latex weapon sometime.

  • @travelsonic hehe - you're the first to tell me that its easy to follow, but fair nuff

and come spring/summer i might do a specific tutorial on how to do the latex part of it.

    thanks for the comment

  • oh and as i side note i larp in central florida USA

  • interesting methods im acctually the weapon smith at my park and some of the things with the hammer i found just a bit exesivebut the methods with the latex i found very useful because most all the parks where im at dont use latex mostly just duct tape designs but im very interested in trying this method and useing it for the new park that me and my friend are creating

  • @ryankakashi well, with the hammer its a question of making sure that the core rod doesn't flop around inside the thing, or that it wont collapse when you whack someone with it.

as for the latex - ya, especially with cloth. its very important to use cloth with it, as latex alone just stretches and tears. with cloth its indestructible.

go for it - i wanna see the end results!

  • @webkilla alright yeah i just ment with the harmmer normally id have just covered around it in open celled foam then covered that with closed

  • Ok I've been looking for people who LARP in the western NY area, there any wed sites or such where I can search for groups?

  • @TheJerkMeister you could try Google? no seriously, i just googled "western new york LARP" and i got a boatload of hits. not all useful, but i spotted the names of at least three different LARPing organizations.

  • Lmfao OVER 9000 hours in MS Paint.

  • @TheHunterHatfield *orcface.jpg*

  • at 2:29 at you pick did you use ehh cartboard of paper ? the white thin at the handle :p

  • @lovestarwarsechobase i do not know what ehh is. but i used double-sided tape to stick a lot the bits together - or was it something else? try to elaborate

  • 1:30-1:39 How could you dig and cut foam like that? Do you have some special tools or just a pair of good smith hand with a knife?

  • @SeikenPublic box cutter. nothing special - sharp knife, scissors if you're in a pinch. just dont cut yourself :3

  • i think i want to make one that is like a staff with a mace design on each end is that allowed i dont know if there picky with how realistic the weapons must be....... ow and should i use duck tape or latex

  • @mprutherford Depends on what its for. if for a LARP ask them what their rules are on weapons - what they can and can't be made out of. in the US latex is often B& due to some who might be allergic to it. also ductape = easiest, especially for first timers.

but latex is far more durable and resistant to wear and tear.plus you can paint/color it

  • @webkilla well thank you and is there any sites that you know of that have any general guild lines for rules

  • @mprutherford No. You have to find the LARP that you want to go to - they will usually have their own unique rules (LARP is not as mainstream as D&D, there are not universal rulesets)

  • someone sold me a weapon, look fucking amazing, for about a hundred dollars, and come to find out it had a real blade inside and i ended up cutting a guy on his shoulder, the cut was 2 inches long, luckily he didnt sue me but im banned from larping...=( that guy was a dick. whata douchebag..

  • @oreowithmilk1 wouldn't happen with this stuff. danish LARP weapons use glass-fiber rods as cores, or bamboo sticks if its on a budget.

  • @webkilla Not only danish ;)

  • EPIC!

  • thanks for the tips. i havent tried latex yet and i usually just go with foam, tape, and pvc. btw if you dont mind, where did you get the gurren lagann fight theme?

  • @HartselleLARPing THE INTERNET!

  • @webkilla

    AH! OF COURSE!

  • dude! awesome face!

  • @xxxskat34lifexxx Of course! :D

  • where can you get the liquid latex at?

  • @MaWilson1993 dunno. home depot? sex shops? i honestly dont know where to get it relative to where you live - i only know where to get it where i live

  • I wonder how well these hold up in a battle.

  • @Ryakashi Very well. I have several latex weapons that are pushing 5 or 6 years old. The only 'damage' they have is cosmetic (dirt having been rubbed/beat into them) - if you make what i'm instructing properly, with latex + cloth using a glassfiber core, then you (or the person you're beating) will break before it does. it'll even be resistant to cutting and fire (it'll melt from longer exposure, but it'll take a while - and cutting latex is a bitch)

  • You can get fiberglass rods at a home improvement store, they are sold as reflective markers where the "for sale" signs are. Anyone know how to cut the foam so the edges arent jagged?

  • @arkyle1 to cut the foam without jagged edges is quite easy: you just need a sharp enough blade to cut with (box-cutters are just fine) that you dont need to 'saw' through it. box cutter blades get dulled fairly quickly in some of this stuff though

  • A great video! We are just starting wilarp.com and these videos are super helpful as we get our group going!

  • Where do you get the fiber glass rods from?

  • where do you get the fiberglass rods from?

  • @arkyle1 try a home depot?

  • ok the foam weapons ive seen are made by factories or companies, others look like ones u buy from a shop, these are the best handmade ones ive evers een

  • @dragondude24 Its comments like yours that make my day. feels good man

  • you do realize you made all of that way too complex my friend for that damn hammer thing just get a pvc pipe gorilla glue duct tape and a big foam block cut a hole in the foam block and glue then the pvc pipe, let dry overnight then and duct tape and a little more foam and omfg u have a big ass larp hammer... you really need to get a life or at least get laid bro....

  • @MrRandomhouse you do realize that I didn't make this tutorial for idiots? I do high quality, not shit tier. go enjoy your wiffle-bats.

  • @webkilla You'll only be able to understand the short discussion if you speak German. But they will answer you in English as well.

It was linked because there are some things in your tutorial which are unusual judging by German standards.

  • @Faltingsity unusual? like what? I know that at least in denmark then the concept of crumble or compression zones are quite unusual...

  • @webkilla The concept of building parts of larger weapons with lighter foam (the kind you use) is common in Germany. Just the way you built it is unusual judging by Germany standards. Therefore it was brought into question wether it makes sense to construct it this way. They considered it flawed, because this construction leaves only the edges as a zone of compression. It is German standard that a large block of light foam is used on both ends of the hammerhead.

  • @Faltingsity Ah I understand. well, the big hammer is only meant to be used on the soft side, at least versus 'soft' opponents. if someone's wearing plate armor they wont feel hits from that side, so then you use the hard non-cushioned side. works out quite well actually.

  • wow. it was fast, but also helpfull. many thanks!

  • Wow, I am having trouble finding the right words.

Is this how you commonly built weapons for Larp in Denmark?

  • @Faltingsity Not that common - but in the LARP circles I move in, I am known for my very high quality LARP weapons. I am known as an equipment fetishist.

  • @webkilla I was just asking because your video came up on a Larp-board I am registered at, since some parts seem questionable judging by German standards, like the use of adhesive tape and the lack of a construction to protect the ends of the core. It's interesting to see what the standards in other countries are like.

  • @Faltingsity you're absolutely right on the core ends protection. added a bit on that. Still, for things like my hammer design its kinda redundant. But you're right - and my stuff showed up on a german LARP board? neat - link me, i'll be glad to answer any questions anyone might have. :)

  • Nice tutorial. I'd never thought about doing crumple zones in mass weapons like you demonstrated.

  • @gozer87 I am currently playing around with crumble zones on swords as well.

  • LMFAO love the instructions...... to funny

  • would you mind giving me the measurements for the warhammer?

  • @YokaiOokami

consider world of warcraft - the kind of 2-handed warhammers they use there, with a hammer head the size of your characters head. thats about it. your head.

  • do you play 40k, or any warhammer? also, do u play wow?

  • @Shotgunnyboi

oh ya, i got skaven, imp. guard tanks, dark eldar - used to play WoW, but after 4 years of that it got boring.

  • @webkilla nice dude. hey, what were u in wow, like ur race, class, and level?

  • @Shotgunnyboi

alliance, dunemaul EU, all races, all classes minus hunter/paly, a couple 80s, some 70s + a few others. stopped playing a long time ago

  • @webkilla nice. 2 Q's: 1, is wow where u got ur LARP costume from? 2, did u stop before, or after Lich King came out?

  • @Shotgunnyboi 1) no, 2) after

  • it is fiber glass not glassfiber -.-

  • @metalgod321

danish grammar. wall of dicks, climb one

  • @webkilla sorry i didn't mean to offend you

  • It was really helpfull for me, u are the only one that as done evry singel piece in a tutorial =) But i looks tricky to fill a hammer, maby thats just me thank u for done this video =)

  • @EliasThaMan

i aim to please. a hammer shouldn't be a first time project - start out with a sword or an axe as the tutorial shows... its a lot easier. but the hammer part isn't that difficult, its just a question of making sure its not too heavy, so filling it with something light is a good idea.

  • say can you make a video of how to make that shield that holds the two swords it's awesome!

  • @InF3cT3dPr0DuCti0Ns

should be possible - although its not that practical actually. ideally you'd want a more 'normal' shield shape and handle placement. but as a concept its neat enough

  • That'd be cool, I'm off to my first Larp hopefully in a couple months, i'd definitely appreciate it and i'm sure a lot of other people would find it as useful as this one. (P.S. Your weapons looked awesome, forgot to comment on them before =P. Hopefully mine won't turn out like total crap =) ) (Tried posting it but it failed, so if it does it twice, my apologies for any spam.>.>)

  • This was really helpful, cheers, awesome weapons. ^^

  • @DeadMetal666

thank you. i am planning to do a tutorial on how to actually paint the latex on at some point - maybe sooner, maybe later. depends on how many asks for help on the subject.

  • @webkilla That'd be cool, I'm off to my first Larp hopefully in a couple months, i'd definitely appreciate it and i'm sure a lot of other people would find it as useful as this one. (P.S. Your weapons looked awesome, forgot to comment on them before =P. Hopefully mine won't turn out like total crap =) )

  • zOMG!!! Gurren Lagann Music!! You instantly made me a fan of yours with this xD oh shit...is this gurren lagann??idk...still givin ya props for making the first Latx tutorial vid that I could actually find/understand

  • @Strifedragondude

its all good man. love TTGL - and thanks for the comment on the tut itself
