You do get more if you take the payment over time which is what they want cause take don't count on people to live it out and when and if someone dies that's less they have to payout.

here is somthing reltively new. buy existing mortgages in forclosure at 2/3 or 66.6% and sell that mortgage directly back to the original home owner, for $10k or $15k more. once the transaction is complete, you are free and clear. that's a proffit and:

1: they keep their home (me, 11 years).

2: i have a lower mortgage payment.

3: you make a proffit.

that's how to help people.

Not to nitpick, but he doesn't get even close to 258 mil. They (the lottery commission) take a LARGE percentage if you take the cash payout (big jackpots they take around 40%). Then Uncle Sam sends his debt collectors to take another 44% and your state takes some too. 258 x .60 = 154 mil payout. 154 x .44 = 68 mil fed tax. 154 x .05 (low end of state tax) = 6 mil. 74 mil in taxes. So 154 - 74 = 80 million in your bank account.

He got around 80 million in the end. Hopefully he's not broke yet.
