  • i'm still sad the studio version doesn't sound more like this :( the camp bestival version of the last living rose, too..

  • Take me back to Constantinople. Can't go back to Constantinople. @3:00

  • new album is out in feb i think. Just before the start of a few european dates. Got m ticket for the troxy in london secured ! I can t wait ! (i do prefer to more rock orientated work - but whatver she does - its interesting ! )

  • Don't hear bjork . . . but am hearing Joanna Newsome. Or Malvina Reynolds on crack.

But that's not a bad thing - and still sounds quite original.

  • When is her album out i love her style and all her previous albums have never not been played for more than a weeks!

  • this song is pretty interesting. i can't wait for the record! bless her lovely weird musical mind :)

  • an evolution of the before album...

  • love the new sound... so authentic... true artistry

  • why she doesn't do rock anymore?

  • @montecarlostar She still rocks , you just got left behind.

  • @marxman00 man I love PJ, don't get me wrong, and I love avant garde too, so I was not shocked when I saw her barking on her last album, but.... I sincerely don't like this! Man I used to think she was leaving rock behind when she put uh huh her out, but uh huh her is led zep compared to this!! I wish she pulled out a few guitar riffs again :(

  • @montecarlostar To quote John Peel (about the fall) "It may not be what you want, but it is what you need! ". I'm buying whatever she's selling ! Peace bro

  • @montecarlostar but don't you think this shows the great depth of her true talent as an artist? personally, evolution is sign of longevity and strength. she keeps people curious and transfixed with how she's always able to take on these new directions and sounds. i mean didn't we feel that way too when she amped up the electronica for 'is this desire?' or the more cerebral almost shoegazed experience for "stories..."

besides, polly's always said, she refuses to merely repeat herself.

  • @scottjhnsn well, I think that if it all was real evolution it would be alright, but I feel she just wants to get weirder and weirder just for the sake of being weird, not for the music.

And also I think she reached a bit of a plateau, this still sounds like A man a woman and White Chalk, she's stuck with that autoharp

  • @montecarlostar PJ makes music for herself, its where she is in time, we are merely observing, maybe like watching someone surfing. I don't think it can be called good or bad surfing , the fact that they are still on the board is all that counts.

  • @montecarlostar and i love earlier bluesy guitar stuff but if she constantly put that out time and again,as a listener i think i would find that rather boring. imagine how it would feel as a creator?

  • @montecarlostar I agree with you. I love her and I even like her newest album but something which attracts me to her music is missing in this new stuff.

  • @ZZqezza

  • @ZZqezza Agree too. Really love track 2 The last Living Rose & 6. On Battleship Hill . Still the album doesn't have the punch and grind that Rid of Me or Stories of the City Stories of the Sea-both tilted my ear in F.... amazing way . Polly Harvey is a gift to the world!

  • I must free myself of the "ballast" that is the comfort level of her previous persona s (that were exactly fitted for that time-PJ is too far ahead at this point.for me But I am compelled to reach for that next rung- she won't retreat & neither should we.

  • Polly for President!!!

  • love it

  • Who else could make "Let England shake" a thrilling song, while playing a autoharp ?!

  • great !!!!

  • I love this construction.

  • I love that she sounds so much like Siouxsie a few times in this.

  • @0ntology - i totally agree!! :)

  • Κωνσταντινούπολις

western mind dominated paradigm is over, new consciousness is here, one one one, not nine one one

    social justice, dancing

    she is the best

"let's head out" and "swim back "laughing

    yes!

  • this song is out of left fucking field and genius, shes the only one out there doing things that are unabashidly forward yet still simple

  • This is more interesting than A Woman A Man...

  • I didn't enjoyed this "can't go back.." from background at first, but now when I'm listening to it over and over I think that it fit the song, to Polly's vocals and autoharp perfectly! great song. Can't wait for next album, even though that I'm not tired of "A woman.." yet ;D

  • I waited for 4 hours to be in the very front with some similarly friendly and devoted folks. She was so brilliant: sweet, quirky, polite, warm and of course, overfilling with her incredible voice and talent. Love you Polly!

  • pj harvey does it again. seems following up white chalk once again won't be a problem

  • I love it so much! those backing vocals are crazy, in a good way of course:)

  • lyrics to this are really zaney. i like it. "i fear our blood will rise again..."

  • LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!

  • Haha.. So cool!

  • I was outside watching the screen..

  • Crazy Polly, good job!

  • My right as well. Almost had a front row seat :)

  • aaaaaa new song :) so that means in 1 year at leat another polly album will come in our ways..??

  • polly, you're the best!

  • You must have been standing to my right!!! Good work!
