5cm per second was a beautiful anime. It hurt to watch it though, because it's one of those rare ones that evoke real emotions and are so lovely you never want them to end and when they eventually do you feel a bit empty.

You're right. At the beginning I thought Akari would be the one to suffer most; I guess the saddest part is not their actual distance, but the fact that Takaki lived for her, while she didn't feel the same way anymore and most of all, she wouldn't even remember him.

It's a sad story about how feelings evolve through time: while his feelings for her grew, hers diminished.
