@GetFurRealModding Because the X-42A HyperX was a test aircraft equipped with Scramjet engines.

A Scramjet is a Ramjet built for use at supersonic and hypersonic speeds, but needs to be moving at that speed in order to function in the first place, that's what the Phoenix rocket was for, to accelerate it to Mach 3 or 4.

Seriously, that looks like a rocket, not a scramjet. Admittedly the nose looks like that proposed for the scramjet, but it looks like an aerodynamic test, not a test of scramjet technology itself.

@Capt777harris It was the scramjet demonstrator mounted on a rocket. The rocket was used to accelerate the demonstrator, then it would detatch and the scramjets fire, which at a distance, look just like a rocket. It basically is a rocket, only with an air inlet.

Look pothead, even if such a speed was possible, do you have any idea of the G forces that would occur during acceleration? Not even an unmanned craft could stand it. The highest G-bearing craft on the planet can only take around 16,000. Thats nothing compared to "getting to another planet in a matter of hours". With that you're talking millions of G's.
