The idea of creating "purebred" cats is nonsense. Animal breeders seem to like to think that they are smarter than millions of years of evolutionary refinement. My farm cat rescues are perfectly healthy; my friend's $800 Maine Coon died of a genetic heart defect. But my main point is that there are far too many abandoned cats out there that need good homes. Breeding them on purpose for profit is totally ethically unjustifiable--unless you value human vanity more than the animals' welfare.
Plants are alive, so are cows and pigs, we eat them daily.
Govt has modifed them all yet you eat it daily....
If breeders make changes to cats or not, cats breed and end up in the pound from those who shouldnt have taken a pet. Breeders can not say the new owner will not do such things nor the fault of a breeder when this happens.
At least we aint eating the genetically modified cats...
Hows that FDA Meat or GMO Produce taste? Ever read into whats goin on there?
i have a beautiful pure ginger persian who was used only for breeding, then dumped at the pound. Breeders are only interested in money - DON'T BREED, too many pedigrees are dying in pounds around the world. The one I have is lucky
Pure-Breeding produces deformity. You're paying much for a defect and is causing these animals to not live a normal life. That's capitalism for you. For reference, see what happened to the Royals with the kings and queens trying to keep their lineage. They all died! Mortality rate increases as it goes down to the next generation. So STOP pure breeding now. And go adopt a pet at a pet shelter.
i can understand why it costs so much for a purebred reg dog whose parents have recieved all the genetic tests. however purebred cats are rarely if ever health tested or genetic tested so i have to say i like the mixes better i mean alot of these purebred cats came from mixes. "omg a hairless cat lets find another and see if we get hairless kittens we will call them sphynx's" "omg this cats ears curl lets breed for curled ears and call it a breed"
@CursedK9 if you bred for only black cats with gray eyes and for 5 generations you get only black cats with gray eyes and they keep the same body and coat type you have a breed and you have a standard. all of the purebred cats out there were taken from "mutt" cats that had a certain trait and bred until they had a standard
@deadrosary a breeder who cares about the animal does exactly that. They breed for health and looks because they respect the breed and want it to continue. Please don't label all breeders like horrible people. My aunt is a breeder and all her cats no matter how old, young or useful recieve her love and attention and her whole house is dedicated to cats.

Nice informational video!
It is great to see people doing the animal rescue thing in lieu of breeding for profit.
I am sure that the pets saved from death row at the kill shelters are quite grateful.

Stop pure breeding. Quit breeding for looks, and start breeding for HEALTH.
