I had just finished reading the book to my 4 year old and both of us agree that the ending to the book was much better. We liked how Sophe stuck Fleshlumpeater in the ankle and how the BFG told him it was a venomous viper in his own words. This ending sucks and the film is a bit to watered down for me however the artwork is fantastic I must say. Would love to see a redo with Jim Carry. unless there would be a better choice for the roll that is XD

the ending is way different, in the book the bfg doesn't fly home, let alone he doesn't go home! the queen has her people build the bfg a house and a cottage for sophhie right next door

@NothingButBarbeque I'm not saying that the ending to the book is lame but they built this film to be quite serious, dark, as well as funny. If they did something like build a house and cottage for Sophie in this I think might've spoilt the mood and come across as a little cheesy. But that's just my opinion really. At least they didn't change the ending drastically and have Sophie seperate from the BFG.

I love this movie, I always have. It was one of those I rented and watched over and over, it's the same with Matilda. They are wonderful movies. I have read many Roald Dahl books, and own 3 of them. He's a wonderful writer with great imagination. These books and movies will be treasured (not just by children) For a long time to come. Thank you for posting it :)

well...in the book the queen of england got a house made especially for the bfg, that was next to her castle, and a cottage next to the bfg's house fr sophie. Sophie taught the bfg how to read,write, and talk properly and from that he (bfg) wrote a book. The book he wrote was the book that the reader just finished only he put his name as Roald Dahl because "the bfg was a very modest giant, so he wouldn't put his name on it" as so the book says lol

Sophie is completely different than the novel. Sophie in the novel is blonde and has no glasses. And her hair is long not short. The BFG is also different. His ears aren't as big as they say in the novel.

I didn't like the movie as much as the book. The ending was nothing like the book. Wish she would have ran to him and told him that he could stay with them, but still catch dreams. That would have been an ending closer to the book. Wish they would have made Sophie look different and The BFG, well the only thing bad about him was his eyes. Basically, it was an overall good movie and I would recommend it. :)

This is one of the best movies I've ever seen and it just brought back so much of my childhood just like watching "the last unicorn", "Krull", "The Hobbit", "Unico", "Little Nemo" or "Willow" They are all part of my life and what I grew up with.

What I love even more is that Sophie stayed with him. I would love to hear about what Sophie's adventures in dreams was like I'm sure she would one day take over the giants work.
