Thank you for the great video. I especially loved about how you mentioned us living obligated towards money, and social acceptance. 1-18 I have never made my own choices I've always asked for another to do it for me, stalling until it hopefully resolved itself, at 18 I have no clue what's going to happen with me. I turned 18 last month. Luckily I am blessed with at least 1 kind parent (in their 50s, not exactly part of the last generation) who can still help me become self reliant. Thank you.
well there's gonna be a pell grant crackdown for the fraud, you've been desensitized from tv, but please expose the difference between capitalism and laissez faire capitalism after the rape of the public trust, they want more freedom for their corporations in the totalitarian democracy, how about political science?
I think our generation wasn't really allowed to fail. If we were told we were smart, we wanted to continue to look smart, so we didn't try anything hard that we might fail at.
Since we weren't allowed to fail and never had to do stuff on our own, we have a sense of entitlement. We got the degree and the ticket stamp so we now should have a good job.
Previously people were just happy to have jobs... even if it's unglamorous, even if it's a 'dead end'. But we've been shielded from so much.
Very true... luckily, there are exceptions, people who believe in their dreams... and by this design, they are dragged down and destroyed if they don't comply with the system. Something must be changed, and fast.
I totally agree. I was just talking to my Grandpa, he doesn't understand why we are so lazy. He grew up on a farm totally self-directed, owned his own business at 16, parent at 21 and is now a millionaire. He still works hard, when he doesn't have to. My Husband and I are both unemployed and demoralized and he is very critical. But, we are doing better than most of the people our age we know.
I see it everyday, with people going through their 30s living at home or off their parent's income and being so reliant on others they can not live on their own and learn to be responsible and to be both happy and financially independent. I left home at 17, followed my passions, and made it a career, one that is built on my flavor of happiness. I am so happy to have recently met other people who took life by the reins and claim it for their own.
I was born to a generation that still could be children. At the age of 3 I was playing unsupervised in the great northern taiga forest. I was given a dog as a sitter. At the age of 7, I buried an axe in my leg, right into the bone of my shin. My parents never knew of it, as I was too embarrassed to tell them of my foolishness. I cared for the wound myself. It is with the freedom to make mistakes, the freedom to be free, that we learn self reliance.
There is not one thing wrong with 'your' generation. There is a lot wrong with your parent's and grandparent's generation and the absolutely criminal mismanagement and irresponsibility 'we' are responsible for. It was out of greed and stupidity that we have destroyed your prospects for the future, and our own moral cowardice in the face of the 24/7 spam of sensationalist fear on the news, depriving our children of the freedom to make their own mistakes, and learn from them.
What generation is that you are referring too? The 50's-70's generations? I agree however, most parents of my friends (I'm 17) are not allowed many choices at all. This therefore destroys their own ability to make choices.
@drew335533 I was born in January 1959 in a little town in northern Alberta. There was no town accessible by road further north in that part of the country. Our backyard, which had no fence, was on the northernmost side of town and bordered the great taiga, the edge of the world, the 'wild' place. It was there that I walked and played alone with my dog, at the age of three, watching tadpoles grow.
I am tempted often to apologize to young people, for their having been deprived of such freedom.
Good video and you are becoming more confident.

I'm not sure what my opinion is on all of this, but it definitely made me think more than I had before about the subject.
Also, you have a really cool voice/reading style, you could get into radio or something.

Ya wow man, I wish I could have time to go out like that. I love doing it, but with homework, there is never time.
