  • Hogwash to the four people that disliked this video, PURE HOGWASH, I SAY! Poe was a literary genius and should be praised for his works for years to come, for he induces the deepest and darkest emotions in the human soul. That, and with as a great an actor and orator as Vincent Price, "The Cask of Amontillado" becomes a truly unforgetable story. In Pace Requiscat, Vincent and Edgar!

  • absolutely magnificent work!

  • For the love of God, Montresor!

    Yes.....for the love of God.

  • "My heart grew sick- on account of the dampness of the catacombs. Hm." LOL!

  • Just sheer brilliance! You just cant get better than the Legendary Vincent Price!

  • 4 people can't distinguish sherry from Amontillado.

  • Amazing

  • Allan Poe and Vincent Price are wonderful!

    Amazing!

  • it is not full. large part of the story was cued out.

  • I was a small child the first time I read this story, along with The Tell Tale Heart. Both terrified me, but especially the Cask of Amontillado, as I imagined being sealed in to die slowly, alone in the dark surrounded by bones.

Watching Vincent Price perform this piece is like experiencing that terror for the first time. The impression doesn't fade, no matter how many times I watch him interpret the story.

  • lmao listen to these stories past midnight, poes a genius! great acting

  • Great acting, great story.

Pitty the complete recording: 'An evening with Edgar Allen Poe - starring Vincent Price', is cut into little pieces, when it's actually right here as a whole, over 50 minutes of excellent entertainment.

  • This version is good, albeit edited. They skip the part were they go over the Montressor's family motto- Nemo me impune lacessit. Roughly meaning, "no one insults me unpunished" in English. Or more simply, "Nobody fucks with me". So apparently getting even is part of his family's credo.

  • I read the story first and this was an excellent act and was accurate as to what i envisioned it would be.

  • 2 people are apparently uneducated about Mr.Prices greatness.

  • @Freddykrueger666 And of course, Mr. Poe's!

  • @Hendo56 Indeed!

  • two people missed the "like thumb"

  • is he dead now or something????

  • @yaoifoever He died in 1993.

  • @yaoifoever yes, he has passed.

  • Superb!

    Thanks

  • Did anyone else notice how one half of his face had a blue light on it to represent Montresor and a red one on the other to represent Fortunato.

  • @toolongforyoutoread6 I wondered about that!

  • chilling

  • THRILLER! lolsx just kidding, i just felt like I neede to say that (even though it was TOTALLY unnecessary) This was soo awesome, i love this story!

  • m_) GREAT!!

  • Whoa! He tells the story like a pro! Thanks! You helped me! Its a very good story

  • How great was Vincent Price?

  • I loved this one by Vincent and Edgar :) Vincent was the best storyteller and Edgar Allen Poe was pure brilliant and genious :) Thank you for uploading this :)

  • Wonderful! An unique choice to enjoy Vincent Price's work for those of us who cannot had the chance to live in English language countries where these types of films are broadcasted. Superb Poe's poem and superb Vincent.

  • OMG we read this is my english honors class today... it was good

  • Vincent Price was THE interpreter of Poe!

    He makes revenge truly sweet...

  • Its alot easier to understand when someone is saying it than when reading it =)

  • Thanks so much for posting these. Great story and storyteller.

  • This sent chills up my spine.

  • heh ha i ya gree love all price's works n movies

  • BRAVO!!

  • that was awesome. i kinda got chills while watching.

1st time listening to the story

  • Edgar is a decent writer.

i like this story, one of my favorite tortures : )

  • Decent! Pulp fiction writers are decent, Poe is a genius, a hero, a god of his genre.

  • Ha, the last little part was the best.

"There came forth in return only a jingling of the bells. My heart grew sick; on account of the dampness of the catacombs."

even Poe had a good sense of humor.

  • i never quite realized that he felt sick because of the "dampness of the catacombs" i thought he regreted what he did at the end.. i was wrong

  • Marvelous!

  • It is sad to see the crap that is portrayed as "good" acting on mainstream networks now.Second rate actors making tons of money.Reality T.V garbage.God bless the keepers of the true art form, who respect the tradition and keep its standards high.

  • This video is fantastic. I love watching Vincent Price and am always amazed at his versatility. I have never seen this before and it's great to see new performances. Thank you very much for posting this video.

  • no one can perform poe like price :)

  • pwn'd

  • he acts better sitting down than most actors do standing up!

  • <3.

I have to watch this fo school.

  • yaa so do I school sucks.

  • same

  • LOVELOVELOVE

  • wait, im confused. who did he kill? the end of the story is confusing, can someone clear this up for me?

  • montresor kills fortunato

  • Oh, i do miss Vincent Price...he was definately the master of all that was creepy.

He and Poe are the gods of horror, i have to say

  • And lets not forget H.P. Lovecraft.

  • who also produced this ' ? what chaned was is shown at ?

  • I always love how Poe teases us with the idea of Montresor showing some signs of humanity with that "My heart grew sick" but then throwing in that little "On account of the dampness of the catacombs",

    Classic Poe.

  • Agreed.

  • You can read the text version of this all you'd like, but Vincent Price makes the words come alive.

  • The old "Creepy" comic did this as a cartoon story in the 1960's with artwork by Frank Frazetta. However, they added a twist where Montressori goes down to the catacombs many years later. The river bursts through the walls and he tries to escape but finds himself dragged down by......the skeleton of Fortunato, still dressed as a jester.

  • Two lords of horror...What an awesome pair Poe and Price do make. The howl he gives when crying "for the love of God Montressor" almost made me lose my breath. Awesome video.

  • simply a duet that could send a shiver up the spine of god himself is Edgar and Vincent

    amazing story

  • excellent :) only he cud pull it off.

  • My father taught this story for a number of years in his English classes. I've also always quite enjoyed Poe's work, as well as Price's. I must indeed also say that Amontillado is quite a fine wine - almost quite worth venturing into catacombs for. I am drinking some now!

  • Uh-oh! hehehe

  • excellent.

  • Vincent Price is brilliant, and with Edgar A. Poe's tales...:D awsome.

  • indeed, i thank you for speaking of that:)

  • amazing!!

  • not amazing Briliant!

  • Wonderful!

  • Great for teaching in my literature class
