The US is a big place. In some areas, you are right and coke or its derivative crack is the most abused illicit drug. However, in some areas, meth is THE drug. Try to remember that the US has huge regions with low population densities that are far from either large cities or ports where cocaine comes from. It is for this reason that much of both Canada and the midwest US has a huge meth problem.
@thawhiteazn trust me i understand this but antiiraqwar stated the whole of the U.S and not secluded regions. btw i am from Australia and we have a serious problem here with meth and heroin as we are close to asia where we can get heroin and also meth (also a lot made here). cocain, mdma and other stimulants are very rare, high priced and are most likly of a very low quality. @drempt1 Xanax is pretty widespread in the US as well. I knew kids in school who would have to be sent home because they couldn't be woken up after taking handlebars (xanax). My little brother got sent home for passing out in the middle of band while playing his trombone. He also had to go to rehab for oxycontin, but that's another story.
Is ketamine (animal tranq) an issue in Australia? It's expensive as hell in the US, but I think it comes from south and s/e asia as well.

@drempt1 I don't know for sure if GHB is a big problem or not. I only know that we like to call it "Georgia Home Boys" and I've never even heard of DMT. Where I am from (Texas), the most obtainable and often used drugs are (not including weed) ecstacy, shrooms, acid, cocaine, and oxycontin, at least as far as I know. And I can't really speak much for west Texas, where I imagine meth is more prevalent.

@drempt1 Damn, that sounds ridiculous! If I get a chance, I would probably try it. I have done shrooms, and used to do ecstacy back in high school, but now I pretty much just stick with cannabis. I am very interested in the natural psychedelics, but I don't really plan on ever using acid.
@drempt1 A friend of mine got kicked out of high school because he was caught with ecstacy, and he went on to be a pretty big coke addict along with trying just about every drug he could find. His description of meth was that after the first hit, he spent the next 2 days on a meth binge and after that, he never did it again. He settled down when we went to college together so now he just smokes a lot of weed. I almost forgot to mention that he now studies nuclear engineering.
@thawhiteazn yer thats the problem with meth, you don't just spend a night on it, its a several day binge with no sleep so you fry the shit out of your brain. i have also tried pritty much tried every drug on the face of this earth and never really enjoyed heroin or weed, found them boring but was in love with uppers like x, meth and so forth. in year i was smoking a lot of meth and weed at school with a mate who was a fucking genius i shit you not. he is doing so sience work abought phisics now
