  • I like the chick at 0:37

  • "We got people signing left and right. Okay...mostly left"

    Made my day xD

  • @selectyour same hahaha!

  • meanwhile, global warming hoax...

  • This video is pushing 2,557,000 views and the top comment only has 15 thumbs...

  • @akaVoltage 16

  • My teacher did this lol.

  • "i'm familiar with it" like some kind of cunt lol

  • I'd sign a petition to ban politicians

  • 1: Ban water!

    2: *5 years later*

    3: ??

    4: Profit! ..or death

  • American education FTW!

  • This was a great video. It shows just how easy it is to misinform people...and they are willing to believe with absolutely no research on their own part. Kinda frightening if you think about it !?!?!?

  • @orangemod thats why everybody is my enemy and nobody is innocent.

  • im actually going to see if people here in nevada will sign it then tell them its water

  • This is the same as the deluded people who try to ban "chemtrails" all because they do not understand the physics of aircraft condensation trails.

Unfortunately this sort of ignorance is spreading rather than shrinking because unfortunately these sorts of ignorant people tend to have an evangelical streak and try to spread their beliefs to as many people as possible.

  • @GregOrca This is not the same thing, these people were fooled into thinking dihydrogen monoxide was a chemical in water when really it was the water itself no one really calls DHMO water lol i doubt you do too :p Lets say dihydrogen monoxide was a chemical in water people can easily avoid it by buying the right water or by filtering your water supply like we do with fluoride but chemtrails which are toxins sprayed in the air and is unavoidable and definitely something to be concerned about.

  • @Pedzz94

    No, chemtrails don't exist.

They are a hoax designed to take advantage of the gullibility of scientifically ignorant people who know nothing about aviation.

'It relies on a sheep herd mentality just as does signing a petition to ban water.

Signing a petition to ban "chemtrails" is in reality just a petition to ban persistent contrails.

  • @GregOrca WHATTTTT..... No do you research dude i can assure you chemtrails are the real deal and have began for a decade now, the internet is chalk full of info on this stuff. Get informed they are not contrails big difference.

  • @Pedzz94

I have done more research on this subject that you EVER will .

    They are CONTRAILS.

Contrails can last for HOURS and spread to form contrail cirrus.

You obviously have negligible science comprehension and you have fallen for the hoax due to your ignorance of aviation and physics and chemistry

  • @Pedzz94

And please don't embarrass yourself by telling me to watch michael J Murphy's hoax film "what in the world are they spraying". It is utter unscientific nonsense that has been devastatingly debunked in every way.

Murphy himself has admitted it is WRONG and that indeed persistent contrails last for hours and spread into cloud by natural processes.

  • @Pedzz94

Yes the internet is full of profoundly stupid people who believe in unscientific bullshit.

You are doing a great job in appearing to be one of them.

You should stop revealing your ignorance and start reading here:

    contrailscienceDOTcom/persisting-and-spreading-contrails/

when you have read ALL of that documentation then read metabunkDOTorg/forums/9-Chemtrails

  • @GregOrca Im a pilot i know what the difference between chem and con.

  • @Pedzz94

Yeah sure, and i'm an astronaut and so is my cat.

Here's what REAL pilots say about the issue

    ‪airlinepilotforumsDOTcom/hangar-talk/42977-chemtrails-contrails-2.html‬

  • @GregOrca Hmm... interesting you say that cuz my dog is my co pilot and my hamster tends to take the yoke when i get tired :)

  • There was a prank show that did something like this by setting up a petition stand "to end wome sufferage"Women signed it not knowing sufferage meant the right to vote.

  • Most all people understand the term water, come on people, most people don't understand the term Di hydrogen Monoxide,But, Most all people understand the term H 2 O .

  • @mystic81006 Doesn't matter, you don't sign anything if you don't know what it is to a 100%.

  • @Watchdawg These people did only because they did not know the term Di hydrogen Monoxide,My point is only if you want to fool people into it like this then its simple to do,this video is proof, but tell them its h2o and things would be different,I only say this because well, they signed it any how,And that was my point.

  • @mystic81006 The sad part isnt that people didnt know the term, the sad part is that they signed the ban even though they didnt know what it is. And nobody asked anything before signing either.

  • This was actually a science fair project I did.

  • I'm going to start my own petition for hippies to sign: ban dihydrogen monoxide, legalize dimethyltryptamine.

  • @MisterNickOtine

    ill sign that one!

ill live on DMT and C2H5OH

  • Sad part is if someone did this again, they'd probably still get signatures. We are a act first society and stopping to ask questions seems to be a lost art so-to-speak. Not saying everyone is like that, but I've realized that today people read and article, hear a news article, they jump to the conclusion that it's automatically right without finding out the other sides of story for themselves. News is at least two-sided, and is more times than not skewed to the side one wants to be on. :)

  • @PrevanaDei oops meant hear something on TV.

  • @PrevanaDei As Kosh once said, understanding is a three-edged sword: your side, my side, and the truth.

  • @BlackMoonLilith - haha, yup that is true. So really then most of the time two sides get left out :)

  • now I want to go around asking "do you know what Dihydrogen Monoxide" is.

  • @Madmann135 already have.

  • this is one of their greatest bits ever. It illustrates the point perfectly, and it's funny at the same time.

  • "no end justifies the means of lying." lol and your going around with a phony ass petition. favorited.

  • @toSTONEiGO where were they lying?

  • @coulie27 no, but they were being deceitful. still hillarious as fuck and points out the idoacy of these ultra-left wingers.

  • @toSTONEiGO haha yep i agree

  • @toSTONEiGO no one lied, she asked for signatures.. not saying that it was a petition, and they described exactly what it was without ANY false information. That's why this is the greatest national troll in a LONG time. Kinda like the old favorite, glass flows over time.

  • check out this guys channel OldYoungGun

  • liberals equals idiots

  • Geekporn????

  • This makes me want to do the same thing where I live.See how smart/dumb people are.

  • @BelfastAtheist Communism is the ideal that everyone has to be equal, no one can be special, if you own a profitable business, then you have to give away your money to people who didn't work for it, who didn't deserve it,etc... Communism is a practice of equalization...acceptor one, the leader, the dictator, the prime minister, the president, whoever happens to be in power. This is all facts, not fallacies.

  • @GmodAdict

You have no idea what you're talking about lol this conversation is pointless. Go spew your naive vitriol elsewhere.

  • @BelfastAtheist What about "communism isn't about big government" don't you understand or how do you imply I don't seem to know that Communism is opposed to any state structure? Also, you fail to have developed a critical "Begriff" (term, roughly translated) of democracy, or you would see why communism is not democratic - and HENCE (not although) a good thing. If you fail to categorize me: Western communist in tradition of the Frankfurt school of sociology.

  • @DiscordianMadness

Communism in theory is more Democratic than any other Economic system that's ever been practiced, though it has never been practiced - unless you think the Politbureau doesn't count as Government..

    Begriff? Ugh... you annoy me.

  • @BelfastAtheist How do you tell a communist? Well, it’s someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It’s someone who understands Marx and Lenin.

  • @RomanticRebel267

Have *you* read Marx and Lenin?

Yeah... if not, you really shouldn't be running around using Reagan soundbites like that.

  • @BelfastAtheist Yes, I have read Marx and Lenin. Just felt like posting that. What were you guys talking about before I joined the conversation?

  • @RomanticRebel267

    Fuck knows..

Anyways, what Marx/Lenin have you read? The Proletarian Revolution and the Renegade Kautsky? Left-Wing Communism, an Infantile disorder? The Poverty of Philsophy? Das Kapital? I also presume you've read Engels and Trotsky of course?

  • @BelfastAtheist Yes and no. I read the Communist Manfestio and other books that discuss Marx, different Communist variations, and socialism. I'm a person who feels neither capitalism or socialism works.

  • @RomanticRebel267

Wait, so you think Capitalism has actually been practiced!? Or Socialism for that matter?

Because I don't regard either as ever having existed in any Physical manifestation, we have State Capitalism (Because Capitalism would self-destruct) and so-called ''State Socialism'' like the ''D''RPK or indeed the U''S''SR, Smith and Marx must be rolling in their Graves..

Why don't you think Socialism works?

  • @BelfastAtheist Yes, I believe capitalism has been practiced. There are different forms of socialism that have been used throughout history. Marxism, democratic socialism or social democracy, Arab socialism, etc. The website How Stuff Works has a great entry on socialism. There was a person named Robert Owen who ran a socialist compound in his native country and then I recall the U.S. In his home country he had very good results. But in the U.S. it didn't work. I feel we need a mixed economy.

  • @RomanticRebel267

Yeah, but Michel Aflaq intended Baathism to be opposed to the Marxist/Internationalist variant people usually speak of; he got that much! The Ba'ath Party was a nightmare not only in terms of Human Rights, but it's *complete* lack of any meaningful nodes of Socialism.. so I don't think it deserves to be put in the same sentence as Marxism, not that you needed to bring it up anyways, because 'Arab Socialism' has never even came close to being practiced..

  • @RomanticRebel267

I know who Robert fucking Owen is, I've read all about the Owenites in my own copy of the Manifesto, a brilliant little book with a 200-Page introduction to the History of Marxism and all other peripheral Subjects like Christianity's evolution into Socialism and Humanism.

At the time Owen was around (Given the Radical press that existed in America at that time) I can't see why it *wouldn't* work, most Americans at that time were in complete opposition to Wage Slavery.

  • @RomanticRebel267

They also believed in Worker Control of Industry, the VAST Majority did anyways - before their Working-Class Press was destroyed, largely with vicious propaganda campaigns.

Also, Capitalism has *never* been practiced, certainly not in the fashion Adam Smith wrote about in 'The Wealth of Nations' - because if it did, it would implode - the only variant we've had is one whereby the State plays a massive role in, for example - Socio-Economic affairs and Economic Development.

  • @BelfastAtheist There is no need for cursing. You do not need to sound like a badass. Now I'm cursing. I can understand where you're coming from about different forms of economics. Like I mentioned all these economic philosophies feel outdated. There can never be a true or only capitalist or communist state. We need to learn from these great minds and our past. Make the future better then what we have now.

  • i feel really depressed because i lost my penis whilst fighting in iraq. just the glans, but now i cannot please any woman and i feel inadequate. i sometimes feel like killing myself. the other day this kid in the changing room at a swimming pool saw and started laughing at me. his dad saw what was happening and also burst out laughing. i was mortified. my doctor also almost started laughing when she saw for the first time. what should i do?

  • I never sign anything but endorsements for huge fuckin' paychecks

  • I wonder if I would have signed, too, not realizing what I'm signing. I like to think I would have asked... Then again, I do like to know exactly what I'm signing my name into before I do so.

  • 1:41 Australian carbon tax...

  • Mono mean one so it is correct to say monoxide, just not heard of normaly

  • Comment removed

  • I like the woman at 2:15 who said she was familiar with it.

  • Even if you don't know what dihydrogen monoxide is, why would you sign something that you know absolutely nothing about? You would take a random woman's word for it?

  • haha my teacher pulled that on our class, luckily i play attention in chemistry.

  • IM 16 and i know that dihydrogen monoxide is water!

  • I use to sign petitions but the i took an arrow to the knee

  • @MrKaos615 God damn it, stop with the Skyrim jokes already. D:<

  • @Olemguy Skyrim is so overrated. I am disgusted. Game of the Year, too. I mean really? Don't people see other games out there? Obscure or popular, there's many better games than Skyrim.

  • @vgman94 I personally loved Skyrim, I guess there's a reason I've spent 123.7 hours on it, though I think it was mostly addiction and the infamous "just one more quest before bed" disorder. I'm just happy MW3 didn't get GOTY, in the sane outlets anyway.

  • @Olemguy Fair view. I've spend over 110 hours on Prototype (by Radical Entertainment), if you ever heard of it. Some games can just be too addicting. Is it me or is the Call of Duty series getting worse and worse? MW3 looks atrocious to me, MW2 looked like decent fun, and the original Call of Duty games look like they didn't suck at all. I wouldn't call them great, but they looked pretty cool compared to their modern games, which is odd. Modern games tend to outclass the old from my experience.

  • @vgman94 I had Prototype once, returned it, didn't like it. ):

Call of Duty has been pretty bad since Call of Duty: Finest Hour if I recall correctly.

I wouldn't really say modern games tend to always outclass older games, it really depends on the games in question me thinks. :V

  • @Olemguy Well, I've seen many games like Crash Bandicoot's final games (made by the makers of Prototype, but a separate dev team), Sonic the Hedgehog pre-2010, Ratchet & Clank, Metal Gear Solid, etc. But it does depend and differs between different franchises. Call of Duty seems like a type of fun game for casual matches, but the main gameplay looks worse and worse as time goes on. I personally loved Prototype, but I respect your opinion.

  • @vgman94 And I respect yours. :)

One of the main problems with the current Call of Duty is that it takes itself way too seriously, pretending to be a mature game for adults, but they keep doing it wrong by only going for tacked on shock value.

  • @Olemguy I have never seen full walkthroughs and don't care for the story, but if all they do for seriousness is shock drama, they really aren't putting any emotion into it, and that's just sad. I was mainly talking about the gameplay, but the game isn't that mature if all it does is cheap tricks to make itself feel "cool". How were the older games in terms of seriousness and story tone?

  • @vgman94 The COD gameplay itself is alright I guess, I'm personally not a huge fan though. The problem is that you need to fork over €59 for something that should be a free update. I only played Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, V Rally, and Diddy Kong Racing in the 90's so I don't really have much to say, though I have become a Half-Life fan later on. Old games tend not to take themselves more seriously than they really are.

  • @vgman94 I think the problem is that US based publishers are afraid of bad rep from conservative news outlets, developers follow suit of their publishers of course... Look at Polish CDProjekt REDs' The Witcher 2, that's how you take advantage of the M rating and tell the story and display the atmosphere you want to.

  • @Olemguy Ah, yes. Conservatives and their bleeding hearts are a pain. Especially Fox News with their childish video game stories bashing on things such as Six Days in Fallujah and Portal 2 for a variety of reasons, many of which undermine the meaning behind what they're insulting. I came across The Witcher 2 recently on a Wikipedia page. Interesting game. I may look at some videos of it some time.

  • @vgman94 I still want Six Days in Fallujah so badly. ;~;

As for The Witcher 2, I highly recommend it, brilliant game. :D

  • @Olemguy It actually looks like a good shooter. I am disappointed in Konami (the former publishers, if I remember right). Thanks for the recommendation.

  • @vgman94 Yeah. While I can easily just fire up ArmA II if I want military simulation there's always something missing, a good war story, and believable characters. :(

Well, happy to recommend. Thanks for the conversation, mate.

  • @Olemguy Yeah. I am not into shooters for that reason above all, with few exceptions (like Metal Gear Solid 4's online features.

You too. Have a good day.

  • Geekporn? You had me at porn!

  • why is it important for everybody to know that dihydrogen monoxide is a chemical formula of water? its NOT important! penn n teller r idiots

  • @sharartie You must have missed the top comment.

  • @sharartie No, its people who DON'T know that who are idiots. Its part of basic education. The very same people talk nonsense about environmental issues, try to ban powerful engines and etc. Dumb people (like these hippies) should not be allowed to take part in any public decisions. Its people who have IQ higher than 110 that should be making decisions.

  • @sharartie it's not important...unless you try to get it banned. All of those people tried to get it banned without even knowing what it was. Defending dumbasses doesn't make you look very smart either.

  • the only thing i like about this is that it was uploaded on my birthday :D

  • All this time I didn't know what I have been drinking. Oh my!

  • 364 people signed that petition, then saw this video... AMIRITE?!?!

  • 1080p we meet again.

  • 240p ;)

  • @jamieclarke147

    uploaded 50000 billion years ago.

  • @Tracebebo where? dumbass!

  • @radanju1 Exactly. The quality is low as ****

  • @Tracebebo yeah lol

  • I see this was recorded with a potato...

  • @tubeyou346 I see your just an idiot

  • @Xarai you're, not your. idiot.

  • @havax1 say them out loud verbally lemme know the difference if you find one, DUMBASS

  • @Xarai allow me to speak to you in your native tongue. HURR DURR DERP! now do you understand how fucking stupid you are?

  • @havax1 may I ask how you even think you remotely make sense. You remind me of a fundamental christian

  • Forest Gump's mother was right.

  • HAHAHAH MOSTLY LEFT!!!!!!!!

  • and fine them for carbon Dioxide Emissions

(just yesterday was so bummed about how BUll Creek park here in Austin has been "improved")

    One example: De nettlled cacti

  • Reminds me of the ground zero mosque.

  • @ignbtd Especially if its jack Daniels lol

  • @ignbtd or die

  • If you drink enough of it, you'll die.

  • I'm glad Penn & Teller did this, but honestly I've probably signed petitions before I really didn't care about; (like prevent a new set of traffic lights) because these idiots harass you & won't shut up till you agree & sign, or you start having to argue with them how you can live with yourself after not signing there stupid list.

    Hippies!!!!!

  • A lot of you people miss the point. If you don't know what your supporting, you should try to get informed. Then you won't be anti-whatever-people-tell-you-to-be-against.

  • Penn's closing point kind of bothered me, just in that they are environmentalists. They were convinced that Di-hydrogen monoxide was a dangerous, poisonous chemical (and I guess it is, but obviously the benefits of water outweigh these negative points by far). They were uninformed, and hasty, but they still want to do the right thing for the environment. They aren't just doing it to be cool, or to be a part of a group.

  • @antihax91 Yes, they were convinced ... by nothing but someone with a petition. In the words of Al Gore, "DUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!"

  • @antihax91 They are doint it because they are stupid.

  • @antihax91 You're absolutely right, and that's exactly the problem. They *want* to do the *right thing* for the environment, but they're too fucking dumb to know what the *right thing* is. Look, we all want a better environment. Some of use are just fucking dumb. That's the big picture illustrated by this video.

  • cant tell if trolling or just very stupid

  • Haha

  • This is just like all those doctors that want to ban food. I know this is true because my doctor told me I got all my diabetes from eating too much.

  • @smaru486 He's not trying to "ban" food by any extent of the word; he's trying to make you eat less, as it's making you unwell.

  • I love Penn and Teller but this video isn't fair. First off how many people know water as dihydrogen monoxide? Second you have someone purporting it quite well as a toxic substance. It's meant to make certain people look stupid, but any level of intelligence can be fooled by this.

  • @TheBraincandy123 Why the fuck didn't they ask then?

  • @TheBraincandy123 Anyone who took highschool chemistry moron

  • @TheBraincandy123 At no point does she say toxic she just said it was found in everything, the point was not to see if they knew what it was but the fact that NO one bothered to ask what it was.

  • Saying that she didn't stretch the truth is in itself stretching the truth. The thing is, P&T are trying to say that you have to think before acting or expressing but 90% of the comments just repeat them without questioning.

Also: Penn in the background at 1:52.

@leonia97 Well, she DID say it was a chemical used in pesticides and nuclear plants and that it caused extensive sweating, urination and vomiting. Of course, all of this is true, but would YOU know she was talking about water?

  • @Isteinier No but i would at least ask some questions or google it (What IS IT, What is it used for. She said urination, vomiting and sweating none of that is something that would make me go MUST BAN.)A few people sighed without her even saying what its "in" all she had to say was "you wanna ban this" and they sighed

  • @leonia97 True, especially the woman who said she was 'familiar with it' :P

The thing is, everybody seems to make snap conclusions without being informed. I guess people are lazy in the most broadest sense of the word, preferring being told what to think instead of thinking for themselves... Sad, isn't it?

@canibaloxide Sure, except it has nothing to do with the Ground Zero mosque and that the Ground Zero mosque isn't a mosque and that the Ground Zero mosque isn't on Ground Zero...

  • @Isteinier Di-hydrogen Monoxide is the chemical name of water. Anyone who's taken a basic chemistry class would know that....

  • @Isteinier That's Teller.

  • @flarn2006 Woops, seems like I mixed them up :)

I love how he's being sneaky and doing a magic trick that no one seems to notice. :P

  • this doesnt suprise me at all..... Just proves my theory that all americans are fucking retarded! Just embaressing for your sorry fat ass country.

  • @ThePukkapuffa ironically, that is the most retarded comment I've ever read

  • morale of the story don't believe negative political adds attacking their opponent based on quotes and facts taken way out of context.

  • Comment removed

  • @ignbtd

Well you can even die from drinking it too much. It lowers the osmolality of your blood, which causes red blood cells to absorb more water, in an effort to restore osmotic balance between intra- and extracellular fluid. Eventually the blood cells swell up and burst. This means you can't transport oxygen efficiently and your blood starts to clot from the iron and zink that was released from the cells. Very gruesome death... But you have to drink like 5 liters in under an hour or so.

  • Comment removed

  • Lol

  • Thats the thing, most people dont think or dont want to think for themselfs. They just go with the flow. I think Barney in "How I met your mother" had a scientific term for this. "Cheerleader syndrome"

  • Is H2O actually water? I mean drinkable water? I haven't tried pure H2O usually there is chlorine in it.

  • @brownaleguru h2o is only 1 water molecule, so it would taste exactly the same as water,,,,, pure h2o is filtered water from the tap....

  • @rvaugh230 so ban one molecule

  • @rvaugh230 i looked at bullshit debunked and got a response. Why didnt they just say ban water?

  • The comments made me lol

  • @ignbtd no you won't. if that was the case people would not die from drinking too much water since they would eject the excess before it upset their body chemistry. the makers of the video have cleverly used the right word (excessive) in the wrong place to trick you. drinking excessive dihydrogen monoxide is harmful. however you need to consume about 8 litres in a day which is pretty hard to pull off. excessive sweating and urination means you need surgery, drinking less water won't help.

  • Comment removed

  • I love the person who says "Yea I'm familiar with it"

  • @EclecticSceptic Actually, if you drink enough of it, you will puke.

hell, if you drink enough of it you will die! read: water poisoning

  • YEAH BAN WATER WITH FLOURIDE PUMPED IN IT@!!

  • But she did lie, she told one woman that it causes vomiting. Water doesn't cause vomiting.

  • @EclecticSceptic Yes but she didn't say that. It matters how you deliver a fact. A lot of human communication is implied. People can communicate entire sentences by a look or nudge. Kant was wrong when he opined that dishonesty consisted of merely stating a falsehood. This isn't true. One can state a truth with the intention of some other untrue statement being implied. This is what she did here. In the context of banning a dangerous chemical, 'causes vomiting' doesn't mean 'when ready to burst'

  • @EclecticSceptic u vommit if you drink enough of it .. yes

  • @Flip111000 Your response is so witty because you disregarded everything I said and just said 'yes'. Ha ha ha how sensible of you. Oh wait it just presents you as an ignorant moron and everything I said still stands.

  • @EclecticSceptic Yes it can.

  • this is pretty bad science

  • I love how they put it as hippies, even though many of the people who sign it aren't hippies.

  • If you put a camera in my face and worded it like that, I'd sign the petition too....

  • Haha. Stupid commie groupthinkers. Not a care in their world and not a brain in their heads.

  • and these are the people that call the Libertarian people stupid?

  • Best line: "Yeah, I'm familiar with it."

  • @mcrespoperr But seriously, if you were ever told that "dihydrogen monoxide" was in everything you eat, you don't really suspect water.

  • @thatbennyguy you do if you passed highschool science.
