  • fail this is more of a deadlift with an unnecessary shrug

  • dude u need to get full extention try to get on yer toes

  • A clean the Bar goes up to nipple level.

It's one of the tutorials that eventually becomes the Snatch.

  • Yeah, I think you're supposed to jump with a clean pull. Its a clean pull, just may not be the best form. May have a bit too much weight.

  • no, you are fucked. people like you just need to fuck off, your intelligence is embarassing. a clean PULL does NOT recquire the bar to go to the shoulders, moron.

  • sorry, not a clean pull - nice deadlift tho

  • Isn't this a clean pull? when you deadlift and shrug?!

  • just a lazy clean pull

  • so basically this is a sort of quick shrug, a cheat shurg of sorts.

  • Just a question, but I notice you don't rise up on your toes at the top of the pull. Why is this so?

I was always coached to keep the feet flat until the last second and use the shrug and toes to really help explode up.

  • The power you generate pulls you off the ground...you lose a base of support when you go up on the toes

  • But, if you look at the technique of all the top lifters nowadays and through history they all rise up on the toes.

  • what a deusch he couldnt even do it weak

  • Should I do this like a deadlift?

  • I'd like to incorporate this into my next workout plan... at best I'm around ~100kg power clean.. what do you think would be a good weight to be in for these?

  • During this particular program, I've use various weights ranging from 90%-120% of my best CLEAN. So relatively speaking, if your power clean is 100, your clean is somewhere from 110-130kg depending the efficiency of your technique. If you're just putting these in, start on the lower end and try to build up the base.

  • yes my full clean is 120kg

  • i just started doing some of these types of lifts, can some tell me what the difference is between a "clean" and a "power clean?" thanks.

  • a power clean is a clean from the ground and when you catch it you do not drop down... verse.. lets says a FULL "clean" is the olympic movement where when the bar reaches around belly button height the athlete drops down to catch it and basically does a front squat to stand up with it.

  • ok cool, thanks for the info =)

  • Both are very good... and I feel both should be worked into a routine... This would defintly be a good exercise in moving the bar.

  • Thanks man! I've been searching for some vids witgh this exercise, and here it is!

  • No problem. Although, if you're planning on doing this exercise try keeping your ass down during take off (mine is coming up a little bit before I push with my legs - they were done after heavy squats.) There's also Fast Clean Pulls which have lower % of intensity (less weight on the bar) than Heavy Clean Pulls above but done at greater velocity. Hope that helps.

  • What really I want is to improve my explosiveness for my power clean - right now it is only 122.5 kilos. This exercise could help me a lot - as for butt, well - I might have to lift is firs, as my knees are hurting from injury, but I see your point.

  • Good lifting bro, but those are more like a hybrid deadlift/shrug. When I do clean pulls I make sure the bar gets alteast above my belly button. You should try power shrugs if you arent doing them already. This will carrier over to your power pulls, which will carry over to your power clean.
