Also, try tororo! It's banged up potato starch, I think. It's about as slimy as natto but tastes slightly less like death. The Japanese grad students I was hanging out with convinced me to put quite a bit of it on my soba and, well, I don't like wasting food.
I actually eat do raw eggs in the U.S. all the time in the form of homemade egg nog. Should I not be doing that? It is delicious. If I became seriously ill because of egg nog, well, I don't know any better way to become seriously ill.
OMG. I love UNI. I love it so much that It's my favorite food in Sushi. But it's biased if I say it, since I'm half Japanese and Chinese, fluent in Japanese, and have been eating asian food all my life.
They make tacos out of cow tongue where I live x) it's called barbacoa. :D (Also includes cheek and sometimes brain if the person making it is super old school)
any chance you have tips for vegetarians in japan? i know there are a few vegetarian restaurants here & there, but it seems that generally speaking it would be very difficult...
I laughed so hard at this video! your recommendations are great!! your personality makes the video much more interesting, keep it up!! you're so cute!
Cow tongue IS good :3 I may live in the States but coming from an asian family still means I get lots of those "just eat it and don't ask" dishes that turn out to be really good. I've eaten and love pretty much everything that you listed except for Uni...I've tried it a couple times and I've never gotten to liking it haha great vid :D
Slightly annoying with all the strange grunting in the beginning, but this was really funny, and still managed to be informative. Thanks! Also, good pronunciation.
@QuickRhino oh, we'll arrange your date as soon as she's free. At the moment she's eeerrrr... married. Anyway you can meet next time you'll be able to come to Tuscany. I'm sure she'll invite you to dinner.
Oh God... Uni... when I had it, it tasted like eating fermented sea mud. It was at a more traditional Japanese restaraunt in the states, and my hubby and I were getting adventurous! BUT I LOVE takoyaki, and raw quail egg on top of tobiko on a bed of rice (wrapped in nori) is like eating creaaaaaammm SOOOO amazing. I can't wait until I have this baby so I can enjoy my raw fish and eggs again! ^_^
@Shenten hahahaha well congratulations on having an akachan on the way! i'm not pregnant so i can still eat everything, but being in the states really limits my access to legitimate unagi and ramen! :'(((((
@Andr3wco7 you should, it's fantastic tasting. and you'll probably be the only person you ever know who has eaten it (aside from the other toriniku sashimi eaters in the restaurant...).
Yup your 100% correct. They actually dont cook the eggs because they are safe to eat but if you do it in america, you'll regret doing it :3
