I always tuned BEADGCF but 2 days ago realized since I rarely use the 7th string with a band,it's best left for solo stuff. For that I now recommend A. You get more range and chords are easier. Good luck!
Surely great guitar and technique. 'I like to Recognise The Tune', you 'Play like thunder, but the melody is 'six-feet-under'.. I am green with envy all the same. John
Im telling you right now I have seen Matt play at the Elephant room in Austin and this guy is just an amazing musician and guitar player. This guitar should be on the cover of at least GUITAR PLAYER.
woooooooooooooooooow!

Sounds great Matt! Really digging those lines right around 1:03. Are you using a thumbpick?

HI Matt,
I just uploaded a tune played on your 7 string nylon acoustic electric.
I'd love some feedback.
Thanks, Nate

Are you useing hybrid picking or are you doing strictly fingerstyle? And if all fingerstyle what combination are you using for those fast runs?

Hi. Help me, please...Which tuning is better for chord melody stuff on a seven string?. Low A or low B?. Bass line, chords and melody.
Thanks in advance.
Amazing playing.

He's holding a pick, and finger picking with his middle, ring, and pinky.

Can't decipher the melody through most of it. However the chord changes are evident. Really great runs though. Reminds me of Jack Grassel!

Jazz players typically tune the low 7th string to A.. one octave below the 5th string.. This guy's great!

frankspeer 5 years ago
It is a tune called Alone Together. Not sure if it is on a Wes album, but it is a great standard! ;) He also plays it very, very well!
