Very interesting. I'd previously only watched about 3 of his vids. I've been mainly focused on Wolfe. I kinda enjoy how cutting edge nutrition information varies a little. It gives me the chance to choose my own way and also see what things they all agree on (e.g. leafy greens). When debating choices in my head on Wolfe, Cousins and even classics like Jensen, it becomes even more startlingly obvious to me how ridiculous the SAD diet is in comparison to these guys.

......talk that way. It reminds me of the alternative/hippie types I met as a kid, so it doesn't scare me off even though I respond better to "mainstream" lingo. A lot of alternate speak is almost allegorical sounding or "many meanings" sorta stuff, but it is usually trying to communicate a valid point. Don't take everything literally and you can get something out of it.
Try and imagine the "place" that person is coming from and what values or core ideas their "speak" is trying to convey.

My first comment was made after reading the comments before watching the video, as I like to do sometimes. Now after watching it I especially don't see the fuss. What I saw was a really useful talk about vege juicing into a raw diet. Great stuff. His comments at the end were just David doing his thing. The end is the part that I normally would have switched off a bit from. I kinda expect a guy who's life is consumed by deeling with alternative lifestyles and ideas will sometimes........
I don't mind healthy sceptiscism as long as you don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
I find some alternate/eastern/"hippie" terms a bit off-putting, but when I take a step back and read into the intention or logic behind it and relate that to my own reality, rather than being confused by someone elses "speak", I usually find there is something quite usefull in what they are saying.
Hey, I'd like everything to sound like a BBC doco, and look like a shoot from Wallpaper, but thats me. lol
Look, I follow you so far, but does this guy have to be so fricken stereotypical? "closed heart shakra"? What a bunch of bullshit! Does everyone who rejects mainstream diets have to embrace pseudo scientific, cliched mysticism? Do I believe my ears? Is this idiot suggesting that there is a causal connection between a million chickens dying/day and people dying of heart problems due to "closed shakras"? Are you fricken serious???
First of all it is not "shakras" it is chakra, and dying of a closed heart chakra makes sense since if you are consuming the dead bodies of slaughters animals that live the short lives in pain and fear, yes your heart chakra is closed since you have NO compassion and remember the words of a great man who lived about 2000 years ago you reap what you sew. So it is not really "cliched mysticism" it is true mysticism.
Yeah, I'm hyper concerned about the spelling of such a vitally important scientific word. Thanks for the lesson. Let's dispense with medical journals, experiments, trials, and just quote people who lived millennia ago. We don't need things like science. With his Ph.D. in cardiology, David Wolfe is surely in a position to know that chicken deaths are a leading cause of heart attacks and clogged arteries.
You should be concerned w/the fact that there are numerous studies that support the fact that eating a diet high in animal protein & fats causes heart attacks & clogged arteries.
Part 3.... So the death of chickens is directly related to heart attacks & clogged arteries. FYI cholesterol is ONLY FOUND IN ANIMAL PRODUCTS!So since eating a chicken requires killing it then David was right.David's parents were doctors, yes he does have some knowledge in the field.
Now it is my turn to be sorry, I did not put this w/my other comments, but if you are so into those medical journals, experiments, trials, I am sure the info I gave you about saturated fat & cholesterol is something you have read about or did you miss those parts in your reading of those med journal because you spilled some beef juice from you Big Mac on those passages?
I apologize for not noticing this sooner. "You reap what you sew." Is that the credo of the neighborhood knitting association? The man who said that must have been "a great man," as you asserted, on account of his being truly great at repairing and mending torn clothing with a needle.
The force of the irony is strong with this one. In the very same post he criticizes my spelling, then asserts, "You reap what you sew." Boy, youtube really is inhabited by the most erudite and learned scholars! The pearls of wisdom I find are always so astounding!
In the words of John Robbins When you die of a heart attack (which is the leading cause of death in the US) you would most likely have an autopsy done. When they find the thick sausage shaped piece of fatty material that killed you the lab reports ALWAYS say the same thing "saturated fat & cholesterol" they NEVER ONCE came back & said Broccoli and Tofu".
I've also read an anti-evolution tract from David Wolfe, stolen almost wholesale from the writings of Phillip Johnson, that is peppered with the complete and utter nonsequitur that "cooked food is poison," (in the context of the essay). You are aware David is a creationist? Frankly, this alone undermines any confidence I have in his assertions, but most of his followers lack critical thinking skills to such an extent that they no doubt agree with him on this point.
I myself am not sure how I felt about David's chapter on creation. If you must know I believe in "God" but I believe we evolved. But if I based my confidence in people based on if I agreed w/everything they said or believed, I'd have confidence in NO ONE
There is not only no correlation between "closed heart chakras" and heart disease--there is no such thing as a closed heart chakra period, or any other chakra for that matter. That's what I mean. He rejects mainstream diets. Ok. We all get it. Then you start listing the other things he believes, and he begins to sound more and more kooky with every passing item you list.
I take it you are not at all interested in Eastern Thinking? Yoga, the Gita and such? Please remember that those out side the mainstream thinking have always been thought of as kooky.
David has appeared several times on "Coast to Coast" which alone should inspire supreme confidence in his scientific credentials. I mean, they took time out of their busy schedule discussing the occult, remote viewing, hauntings, shadow people, psychic predictions, conspiracy theories, UFOs, crop circles, and cryptozoology to interview David.
look at the kirlian photos in his book (Sunfood) it shows that planets radiate an energy, and yes some of us do call that energy a soul, some how I have the feeling you will disagree with but I'm ok with it.
I've read the Sunfood Diet Success System, and it's a funny thing. After every type of food which he trumps up as super nutritious, he just happens to mention that the purest, best form of that food can be obtained from his website (surprise, surprise). It reads more as an advertisement than anything else.
Also, FYI, I had tofu for dinner tonight, I've not set foot in a McDonald's or eaten a big mac in ten years, nor do I ever intend to. Your clichés no doubt apply to a lot of people, but not to me. But that's just a sidenote, as I think of more of David's kooky beliefs, I'll keep posting them to further my point.
Congestive heart failure, diabetes, kidney's shut down ... All completely preventable.
Yes, green is the colour of the heart chakra and compassion waa something my dear Mommy was not ever fed enough of.
The night before she died, I spoon-fed my 'first love' a green smoothie, prepared with unconditional love. Like a newborn baby reaching for the nipple. A flower finally finding the sun.
