  • I really don't understand some people."He is better off ?" SURE ! To someone who is not happy and really enjoying their life.SEE,I am lucky,I do what "I Want",and I always have.If I want something (within reason) I get it,trade for it ,or make it.I move to an area I really like,Decorate my apartment,make furniture,paintings,statues etc.Trade my art for theirs.See I would,see something this guy needed,make it,then trade for some knives.I read 3 hours a day,exercise 2 hrs.cook,& go beach& sailboat

  • this is my way of forgeing for sure all my hand there nonthing wrong with power hamers and all still need skill for them i just like to do thing by hand

  • strange comments that ppl who are poor are happy? nobody is stopping you from leaving your house and sit in the dirt in your underwear and do hard labour with your hands until old age.

that is the mans bowl of rice..he does it for his family..not because he wouldnt prefer cable tv and modern dentists and gucci stuff driving a amg mercedes.

i respect him for his knowledge and craftsmanship but no need to rosetint the hard reality he is in,its nothing hippie and flowery about it

  • @izabelleTV >>You too can live nicely,have a craft that you love,and live happily.My Father told me,"Do what you really love,the money will come"So I did trades,tile,cement,carpentry,roof work,sheet rock,then drafting etc.In my time,I did my art work.Finally I could build a house,I did.For a company in the Pocanos.Penn.Sold more art,did less building,then just art,till today.Do something you love,and you'll never work a single day.I went,PuertoRico with$124. stayed 8mo. Did murals,traded,had fun

  • true mastery is made by hand. Only powertool is a friend with a really big hammer. And that is a relationship based on mutual trust. When one makes a mistake, the other pays a lot.

I use a foot operated forge and i work alone. I can call myself a true learner. From the ground up!!!

  • pure class. thank you kindly for sharing.

    peace n love all

    stay safe pip

  • твою мать!никаких гриндеров ни дримелей....а делают шикарные вещи!

  • a power hammer doesn't make you a good smith. yes you can doo work faster and more efficiently with one, but without skill you can ruin something twice as fast and lose a body part or get killed using one wrong. power forging takes as much care and skill as hand forging. and i would bet a thousand bucks that these guys would take a power hammer if they had the chance. but i dont believe they do, so they make due with what they have, and do everything they need to with it. and i respect that.

  • it would be such a pleasure to spend a day with this guy.

  • your said it warrior of steel. to sw8741 "those who laugh at your dreams have already abandoned their own" I've worked hard jobs, i've worked steel. unfortunately you seem to think making a living with your hands each day is "squalor" and that's why our country is in such a mess. wealth IS created this way. real work, real rewards. btw... i quit my office job to more fully practice what i preach.

  • The Un should send these guys nice little Swedish anvils. Can you imagine what he could do with that incremental improvement?

  • when you listen close you can hear the rhythm that they work to...God i wish i was more creative so that i could come up with some really cool, dramatic discription for it. Like the rhythm of steel or something kinda like that.

  • living the good life. Daily life is created each day at your own hands. no useless walmart junk sitting around everywhere making your skin crawl. no one worried about who's who on some TV show that has no bearing on reality. now, off i go to my crappy office job.

  • @ firefly804

don't dream too much. i understand about being stuck in an office but the romantic idea of "simpler times" is for those who haven't worked in a hard manual labor job and don't know how hard these peoples lives are. also they forgot the squalor and horrible conditions of life before modern convenience! these people are highly skilled and work extremely hard but poor. why? no wealth is created this way and never can be, just subsistence.

  • It's awesome to see basic smithing in all parts of the world... a universal language.

Both lives (primitive vs modern/commercial) grant and deny different desires/freedoms. Be glad that you are working in an office, that you can get medical attention (even if you can't afford it), and that your hands and feet will not be gnarled at the age of 40 from wrenching metal with your bare hands. If you want to do something else with your life, you have the option to, just like the men in this video.

  • @Firefly804 its impossible to live the good life when you have things like zoning laws....fucking micromanaging has to stop

  • @warriorofsteel01 The reason for that bullshit, is the lie that the Federal Government has any jurisdiction over you. They don't. They only have jurisdiction over DC, Guam, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, federal military bases, but the several states themselves are NOT under federal jurisdiction.

  • @Firefly804 hey if your not happy with your tv,computer, house , money give it to someone who needs it and start over.

  • @Firefly804 i get it...i try to get my sons and friends to stop sitting around watching television and come make knives or self bows.but they only want to see the reality, tv shows them.they quit hunting or fishing, stopped playing chess, reading,or just having a real conversation.all they talk about is politics or who's who.i read some of the comments saying the man in this video doesn't choose this.maybe not,but u'r right, he is better off, without the bureaucracy with it's lies and taxes.

  • the coolest stuff on youtube

  • Looks like they can get plenty done....just takes a little more time and work is all....They can get the job done without a huge forge, shop full of tools and 250 Lb. anvil and I respect them for that. They have only their skill and a few basic tools. This is primitive smithing, the way it has been done for a for hundreds of years....

  • Thousands of years ;) but you're right. Modern smithing isn't real smithing. Every fool can use powerhammer or somethnig like that. That guy on video is really skilled master blacksmith. Respect for him.

  • @gswiaczny It's all smithing. Even a smith who uses power tools, should know how to do everything by hand. Its more fun, to me, anyway.

  • @Cstrife234

Yes agreed, but in fact everyone could do power-smithing. Even my 10 yrs old bro could do something on powerhammer. He made little knife out of a thick nail ( by hand). Not a masterpiece, but not bad at all. I think that with a powerhammer he could do even a sword. With no real skill.

  • @gswiaczny Probably, though they might be more likely to get their hand smashed :D xD hahah

  • @gswiaczny not all modern smiths use power hammers! (I don't anyways, I feel they're overrated)

  • @gswiaczny using a power hammer still takes skill. Also almost all delicate work done by modern blacksmiths is still done by hand

  • reminds me of my youth but seriously you cant get much done by those means.

  • the most expensive knives and swords u see on the market are made these way

  • it's called forging....:\

  • very primitive.. but i love it... love the bag bellows.. open the hand on the way up close on the way down

  • Hot steel, Bare feet, can this end well?

  • Neat looking hammer, what is it Japanese. I want one now

  • really cool!
