  • <3 im in love <3

  • The birds dropping mysteriously from the sky last year was no coincidence. It was Tom Lehrer clearing the clouds for when he's ready to go to heaven.

  • HEY BIG BLACK DID A SONG CALLED

"Big Black - Pigeon Kill "

    similar subject...

  • Tom Lehrer- new math

is there a video for that song?

    like this one?

  • 59 people who watched are members of PETA

  • Thumbs up if you came here because of wow radio

  • lolomgicsroflcifompdilsh!! XD

    * laughing out loud oh my god I can't stop rolling on the floor laughing, cuz' I fell off my pet dinosaur I'm laughing so hard

  • this song makes me happy. is something wrong with me?

  • Tesla would hate this song.

  • I absolutely love Tom Lehrer. He is a true genius!

  • @rusmalbel Dude, your a Fagot.

  • @rusmalbel Your a terrible person, grow up. We live in a world where everyone is equal and your just an nazi-arsehole that refuses to accept it.

  • 59 people were taken home to experiment.

  • How can somebody dislike this song?

  • : D

  • LOL sounds fun XD

  • This song was included in the off broadway play Tomfoolery which was a play with three to four actors and featured many of his most popular songs.

  • Tom Lehrer is certifiably insane. I <3 his songs, but who writes songs about killing pigeons?

  • @6funswede, I can't thank you enough for these videos. Knowing that Mr. Lehrer approves makes it all the more fun!

  • @Paganforge, thank you, yes, when this forgotten and extremely rare recording first appeared on YouTube in 2007, Lehrer decided that he did not want to stop it. In 2010 Shout Factory! in the United States released the concert on a DVD, and -- to me -- The Tom Lehrer Collection is still the Christmas gift of all time.

  • @6funswede Does it mean anything that I have Tom Lehrer's Record Disc?

  • @Undeadjester410, anyone who have Tom Lehrer´s stuff is my favorites :-)

  • @6funswede:

Kreisler's "Taubenvergiften im Park" has strong similarities to Lehrer's "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park". Kreisler and Lehrer each deny copying from the other; so far no one has succeeded in establishing which song was written first.

  • @MrSKINFLICK

excpet that Kreisler visited TomLehrer's shows, but Lehrer never saw Kreisler play.

BTW: Kreisler copied also from Mort Schuman and others....

Hands down, Kreisler was a Guttenberg and Lehrer was his victim.

  • @schusterlehrling:

  • @schusterlehrling:

  • @6funswede:

The original is "Tauben vergiften" by the great Georg Kreisler from Vienna, who just died a few days ago.

    R.I.P. Georg Kreisler !

  • hi alex ;)

  • @nikki8356 Hey Nikki!

  • Lol watched this in science class :) best class eva! i was singing it @ lunch all the time ;D

  • lol, im doing the comedy singer tour to see if i can find anyone better than "tim minchin". I still havn't found anyone. this guy is almost close to being almost close though.

  • I'm pretty sure it's against some religions to want to dispose of a pigeon. Buddhism and Jainism, for example.

  • @adequatelg2s This was my reaction *exactly*. XD Maybe it's not a problem to *want* to dispose of a pigeon, just to do so?

  • @SoundGraffiti Maybe. Unless wanting it goes against the Eightfold Path, which I think it does.

  • @adequatelg2s Oh yeah, huh. I guess that's probably not "Right Intention."

  • @adequatelg2s Would the methods of execution used in Tibet, prior to the Chinese occupation, constitute violations of Buddhism? What they would do is stake someone out all night, where they would die of exposure.

  • @GoblinKnightLeo That would definitely violate the principles of Buddhism, yeah.

  • @adequatelg2s Well, the nominally Buddhist government of the Tibetan Lamas used that method to execute both actual criminals and religious dissenters. I suppose the lesson being that what is nice in religion doesn't work well in governing.

  • @GoblinKnightLeo That, or that people in power are hypocrites.

  • @adequatelg2s I've found that bad ideologies do more damage in the hands of the pious than in the hands of the cynical.

  • @GoblinKnightLeo And the Chinese government is really paying you 50 cents for each of these comments? They sure have too much money...

  • @BlueCougar No. I don't deny that the Chinese killed quite a few people when they took over Tibet, but the Tibetan government was not exactly benign towards its own people. Incidentally, the Dalai Lama lied about how many people the Chinese invasion killed. He said (IIRC) 1.7 million. According to the last Tibetan census prior to the invasion, that amounts to roughly 95% of the population. The kill count was probably closer to the Chinese figure of 50k. Still monstrous though.

  • I could put strychnine in the guacamole.

  • ahhh 240 we meet agian -_-

  • @Tdog365 oh go away.

  • My face was {=O when I first heard this song.

  • His voice is AMAZING!

  • I woz lookin' for "Druggin' Doves In The Dell" and found this.

  • And maybe we'll do in a squirrel are two! Yeah. :D :D Good times.

  • A bit heavy here but here goes anyway. My mum and I had nothing in common at all, I think we hated each other from day one BUT when we were in the car together we always listened to Tom Lehrer and both sang along. Only really happy childhood memories...can there be any higher praise? (no pity...I'm fine now...gibber, gibber,)

  • is their a version in Spanish

  • Oh Mr. Lehrer how you have made my life an absolute joy. Since I was a tiny tot I was running around singing about poisoning pidgins. If only I could get my fiance to memorize Tom Lehrer and sing it with me like my mother does.

  • It's amazing how my last name is basically the same as his xD only one letter difference xD

  • lol

  • OMG i cant stop watching!

  • thumbs up if Canadian-Rainwater brought you here!

  • oh my gosh i thought he only sang the element song

  • This makes me happy.

  • This song's so happy!! <3

  • I WISH i could play the piano so i could share Tom with everyone when i'm performing anywhere.

  • @Betspanker Me too.

    :,(

  • Every single chance I get, I chase pigeons. I've been doing it since I was 3. I think it's time for me to upgrade....

  • This is why we never let GLaDos out into the public...

  • @Daquiriwolfgirl Where's Chell when the world needs her?

  • Fuck you PETA! Pigeons suck!

  • I can't make up my mind whether at 0:20 the camera is supposed to be nodding, or if it's wobbling accidently!

  • @Nogli, it is indeed nodding! Althought the recording was done in Norway, the director was an American citizen (and an avid Tom Lehrer fan :-))))

  • @6funswede As well the director should have been.

  • @Nogli The camera was nodding because he agreed to what he had said on that part

  • I was attacked by pigeons in central park... I love this song.

  • @thatcosplaykid I was attacked by a pigeon in the Retiro Park in Madrid... I love this song too!

  • i can sing this whole song and any time someone says spring i start to sing.

  • A vintage Tim Minchin.

  • pigeons suck

  • Take that PETA.

  • XD

  • NO! Not the squirrels!

  • this reminds me...ww2 xD letes go kill some jews in the park? ;)

  • @schizomaybe Wow not cool.

  • @MrEvitcartta

    why?

  • @andrew624097 Did you read the other guys comment?

  • @MrEvitcartta

    no just saw it soz

  • pig-eon oink oink oink!

  • Tom Lehrer rocks, he should do a live concert, ahahahaha

  • @TheCPCheatsMaster

Apparently he’s always hated going on tour and going concerts. He has done the odd bit of educational performances, though.

  • or just give them alceselser... they explode

  • Love pigeons. Still love this song.

  • ARCHIMEDES?!

  • @theguru95 A mathmatician?

  • @DeltaBravo1216 No....He is talking about Pigeons....and the Medic from Team Fortress 2 has a Pigeon named Archimedes.

  • @theguru95 Another TF2er? I've been waiting for you, Monsieur.

  • 56 people are in the autobon society :3

  • This was one of favorite songs when I was a kid. I played this at my middle school Talent Show and boy were they upset. Thank you for uploading.

  • Shared this with someone today, in hopes of brightening tall their day a little, and they went crazy talking about how they have birds and love animals, all are God's creatures, and how would Tom Lehrer like to come over for some soup laced with something 'special'. (I of course immediately thought of Irish Ballad...'and so a cyanide soup she planned' lol).Goodness some people should just lighten up!

  • @laudevecchi How dare you expect people to have a sense of humor! LOL

  • @laudevecchi I note a level of irony there... "all are god's creatures... you shouldn't kill anything..." then she mentions poisoning Lehrer... something doesn't add up there.

  • original version is from georg kreisler

  • @simonrose2 Original version from Tom Lehrer

  • 56 people got poisoned in the park

  • @Benjamhoin 56 people are pigeons :|

  • thumbs up if you poison pigeons in the park

  • @1TwIsTeDChAoS1

I hit a pigeon with my car once.

It was in downtrown Birmingham, nowhere near a park, though.

  • A gorgeous little girl dressed as a crinoline lady complete with lace parasol and glossy ringlets does this as a song and dance solos at eistedfodds. She does it so well and NEVER fails to have the audience in stitches.

  • Like this if you like to drug things you find in the park, and "experiment" on them back at your house. ;D

  • Hate pigeons, But y do the squirrels have to suffer?

  • Sometimes he says sparrows.

  • I keep having this image of him dragging a grand piano to PETA just to sing this song...

    heck, maybe I'll do that.

  • @Janiemanie1993 I could accompany if you need to. I just bought his book not too long ago. :D :D :D The tempo marking for this song, by the way, is "vernally."

  • Hate pigeons. Love this song.

  • @bibina180, me too. Thank you :-)

  • @bibina180 They are the rats of the sky, aren't they?

  • Thanks!

  • 0:19 Cameraman agrees that Spring is loveliest time of year

  • 55 people didn't go to poison pidgeons in the park

  • Killing pigeons with a BB gun now seems boring. Just need to find some cyanide...

  • I have no idea how someone can deliver a message like that so charmingly, but I'd poison the pidgeons with him any sunday!

  • PETA would riot if they saw this.....HAH.

  • I love my pigeons they are funny they tell me everything and they are hungry.

  • Poinsing piegeons in the park :)

  • Holy shit. This guy is SO ahead of his time. Satirical comedy didn't catch on for decades later. He would be funny in today's standards. Good stuff, Tom, good stuff.

  • @DeeMastuh You're perfectly correct. Satire has definitely not existed since Ancient Egyptian culture.

  • @Bleumange Don't be a fucking smartass. You know what I meant. I don't think the Egyptians joked about poisoning pigeons. THAT kind of satirical comedy has only been trendy and relevant for a few decades, now.

  • @DeeMastuh If you're saying that it has been simplified to accommodate a popular audience, you're perfectly correct. If you still think I'm being a smartass, you can't state that comical satire has only existed since the 50's.

  • @Bleumange I'm pretty sure by saying "Satire has definitely not existed since Ancient Egyptian culture" you just validate that you are a sarcastic smartass. So yes, you were being a smartass. No sense of trying to weasel your way out of that.

  • @DeeMastuh I was making a statement. When I said it did not rise to popularity in the 50's, I was pointing to the 19th century,

  • @Bleumange Regardless, you can point out any misconceptions without sounding sarcastic or full of yourself.

  • 55 pigeons disliked this video

  • Congrats on passing the million! Well done and well deserved ;-)

  • I can't tell if its locked, but I may have been the 1,000,000 viewer! That would be cool if its true.

  • Does anyone know where I could find the sheet music for this? I've already tried music notes dot com, and they don't have it. I know asking here is kind of a shot in the dark, but I'd be very grateful if someone knew where I could find this.

  • @BloorigardEtcetera Amazon.com looks like it has it, and for less than $10--it's in a collection called Too Many Songs by Tom Lehrer. If you like Pigeon, you're sure to want to play others, sooner or later.

  • @GinOhara Thank you so much! That's a big help!

  • I hear Five Guys (hamberger place) Has FREE peanuts YOU CAN TAKE AS MANY AS YOU NEED!

  • like if daniel radcliffe liking him brought you here

  • @youcantrytoresist No. Thumbs up if you loved Tom Lehrer before Daniel Radcliffe.

  • @jeannielovesrick62, yes, he is one-of-a-kind and the worlds best musical satirist, ever. This song will outlive all the pigeons in this world.

  • @6funswede At least if Lehrer has a say in it. :P

  • I must watch this video 3,791 more times to have 1,000,000 views. Oh yes.

  • @mabarry3, yes please, and email the link to all your friends and/or enemies. Maybe they have deserved to watch Lehrer perform this brilliant love song?

  • @6funswede I think that can be accomplished. One million views seems so close now. Congratulations in advance, 6funswede.

  • @mabarry3, it´s Lehrer who should be congratulated here. He quit his "career" as a comedian in 1965! But now the oldest version of "Pigeons" will soon have 1 million views and the total for my dubious channel is more than 6,4 million. Lehrer doesn´t want too much attention as a former comedian/satirist, but I know he appreciates people who play his old comedy songs -, and even more if they buy "The Tom Lehrer Coillection" with the TV-performance uninterrupted.

  • I love him, omg lmfao

  • This is like a clean 1980's version of Bo Burnham.

  • OMG---I love Tom Lehrer! I have the CDs, but never saw him perform . Thank you so much for posting this. I am just dying here..in a good way!

  • I'm a hunter, I've killed many a pigeon, and even I find this morbid, just as Tom intended.

  • brilliant!

  • @MrCrassuswild, thank you :-) To me, this is one of the best love songs every written. Send a link to your friends!

  • 54 pigeons did not find this funny.

  • thanks for putting these videos on youtube!

My favourite song at the moment is "so long mom" but i cant find the piano notes on the internet. could anyone help?

  • @douglasdc3and8, have you tried "Too Many Songs By Tom Lehrer" (book) on Amazon.com?

  • @douglasdc3and8 I just bought the book that 6funswede mentioned, it's under £10 for 37 songs. For some songs it's not EXACTLY what he played but you can tweek it :-)

  • just had to put a pigeon out of its misery - reminded me of this song - Tom Lehrer, satirical, magical lyricist - so funny

  • When my father in law was alive we learned that a love for this song was maybe the only thing we had in common

  • @UglySean - LOL... maybe your dad-in-law REALLY WAS poisoning the pigeons and not just in the park. ♥JUST KIDDING. ♥ 8:00 pm June 20 2011

  • @Chivalry887 Refreshing, though, isn't it?

  • Going on Sunday with Tom to poison those pigeons in the park! And some squirrels :D

  • Must.Learn.To.Play.On.Piano!

  • I don't normally do this, but:

I'm going to go poison 54 pigeons in the park.

  • Heard it and fell in love with the song.

  • Tom Lehrer looks like Kassem G!

  • @HalfMaskedMisfit Correction Kassem G looks like Tom Lehrer because Tom is older.

  • Oh, how I love this song. I saw a comic of an Assassins Creed doctor running around and singing this while, well, poisoning pigeons!

  • @GIRcrzy213 I love that comic! It's so well-done and funny!

  • haha hes sooo mean!!!

  • I so much like the live performances of this song over the studio version. I like when he first sings the line "While we're Poisoning Pigeons In The Park" and he gives that little pause in the lyrics while the audience is laughing.

  • @GIRlovesWaffles Yea, he didn't want to forfeit any more laughs. The pause was very nioely done if not a bit overt. Lehrer rules.

  • AWESOME. i have a horrible fear of pigeons so this song just became my new anthem XD

  • Lehrer was so ahead of his time. That kind of black humour wasn't at all the norm in 1960s America. It's still hilarious today.

  • @ScattySafari Not true! Charles Addams was very popular then. The Addams Family was a TV show in the 60's, and so was the Munsters.

  • @JujutsuMama Sorry if I generalized.I liked both shows,& they were great fun.I know not all US humor of that era was twee sitcom stuff..I first became aware of Lehrer as an Aust. teen listening to Dr Demento in the 80s.I guess I meant to say that, having grown up seeing stuff like Mr Ed, Lehrer seemed to my ears far edgier & likely to offend Middle America than anything I had ever heard or seen from that era up to that point.I was used to this kind of humor from the Uk,not the US.
