why should i watch some stupid movie or TV show wednesday night? better watch this video a couple times in a row, time runs way faster than while you re watching whatever is on!
They use fractions while dividing tempo, chromatism based in the progression of tonalities rather than just timbre like most of the bands with similar setups and actually employ harmonies different than the 3ths and 5ths: that´s more than you can ask for in 99´9% of metal bands.
But actually this is just a techinal compilation of known music: if this was just the "beggining" for them then I´m dying to hear what´s coming next.
At Estradasphere gigs, you have a leave a foot between you and the next person in front. To leave room for when the jaw drops. Superb bunch of musicians!
This is probably the craziest (in a good way) music I've ever heard. Sometimes people will describe a band as "beyond genres" but this is the only group I've ever heard that actually lives up to that description.
omg i forgot how much i love these guys.... on the recorded version its 19 minutes, here they start twice as fast and its 23.. lmfao... i cant wait for the new orange tulip conspiracy to come out...
one of my favorite bands of all time.. i saw them in a very small venue in chicago and they let me dance on stage because of my energy. it was awesome.
Funny. At the show (or perhaps it was one of the other Estradasphere shows at Kuumbwa), they claimed to be the first group to play metal at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center.
They actually use Metal...a lot. And metal likes this. This and Metal aren't that far off... except accessibility maybe. Which might be why you said that...
It depends really on what type of metal and what we mean by 'better'. When I said that I meant that the songwriting and musicianship is a lot better than what you find in metal most of the time:Death Metal, Black Metal, Power Metal, GrindCore, DeathCore, whatever trivial subgenre of metal you can mention. The only type of metal that comes close is Progressive Metal, and you very well might call Estradasphere progressive metal some of the time.
i saw these guys live in san francisco back in 2007... and was completely blown away. they didn't play this song :( , but they put on a show to remember :D
I got to freestyle(!) with these cats like ten years ago. They're so open to anything! I also played with Tim in a college orchestra and a small Chamber trio. I love these guys. I forgot how much I loved this band until I stumbled across this video. Truly mind blowing brilliance.
ive never heard of these guys before and when i saw that the song was 23 minutes long i was thinkin to myself im probably not gonna be listening to this for very long, but could not turn away! with every minute i was more and more astonished, i listened to all 23 minutes and then watched it for a second time, absolutely amzing, pure unrealistic talent!!
@Silversteele13 I did the same! My friend has a similar music taste to me and sent me a link to this video. I watched it and then decided to make a coffee and watch it again! What a great band and song!
When they playing in New Orleans in '05, I grabbed Tim outside and requested this song. He said they hadn't played it in month, but would ask the guys. They then played a 30 minute extd version which melted the faces of the 25 people in attendence. best concert ever. best band ever.
When I first heard this album, this song being track 1, it completely changed my outlook on music today. I had finally found a band of ridiculous musicians combining their talents for the better, not just trying to show each up. I miss John, I wish he was still in the band :(
John "Whoolilicious!" Whooley left the band a few years ago. He is currently most active as "Mojow and the Vibration Army", a musical/artistic project with his wife Moriah.
Do a YouTube search on "Whoolilicious!" for a whole bunch of my videos that include Jon. Google "Mojow and Vibration Army" to find what they're up to now.
I filmed Vibration Army at a festival recently and hope to have some of their videos up soon.
Dude... seriously. Go back to your 50 Cent or Linkin Park or whatever. You wouldn't recognize good music if it was a purple elephant dancing in your back yard.
