i came by this flick by accident last halloween and just couldn't look away, sat through the whole thing, dumbfounded. What unexpected beauty adn subtlety- I mean, it's a vampire flick sans fangs, much more spiritual and lyrical than anything they make nowadays (i do love true blood, but for all different reasons).

Great performances by the leading actresses. Bowie's presence at the beginning was a nice touch, camera loves him.

@bachelorofstuff I love this film,Catherine Deneuve is so beautiful, for anyone who likes the Schubert soundtrack, the brilliant film 'Barry Lyndon' also uses it, it's one of Stanley Kubriks best films,imho.

I'm 21, and I have just seen this movie a few months ago, and I must say..I didn't know Bowie was such a sexy man. I absolutely hated it that he died because of her. Aside from that, Catherine Deneuve was really cool, such an eerie beauty. Overall, though, the movie was kinda crappy and fake.

I have loved this movie, and the music, for years. It just occurred to me that based on the period costumes...mid-late 18th century,...the Schubert is an anachronism. It would not have been composed yet. Franz Schubert lived 1797-1828.

But, the movie and the score is still priceless. A classic.
