These buses were a perfect fit for L.A. transit and all the other RTS's that roamed the streets during their tenure. This was the way of life for L.A. bus riders.
Them Q112 Jamaica Bus Lines coaches abour 1985 we use and takes it easy relaxen like tha real good. them T8J-204 GMC RTS II coaches. 6V92TA plus the Allison V730 power always wons the hearts everytimes! FANASTIC filb amigo plus you is driving that coach REAL GOOD as wells!!!!!A+900000000Star!
LOL!!!!!!!! GOSH< I just love that sitting so damn high on the driver seat and hold on to the bar while driving and turning like the Flxibles Gumman/Metros.

man i loved those rickidy ol things......lemme ask whats it like driving 1? I always wanted to get behind the wheel of a GMC but never got the privelige...
Believe me, I'll rather drive old raggety buses and of course Fishbowls that are still running in Toronto than any low floor buses, because low floors are boring.
Who got the last orders of Gillig Phantoms? I thought Pittsburgh PAT had the last ones and stopped making them like early 2006. I guess Making High Floors doesn't even exist anymore as of now. Sadly my hometown in Michigan is retiring their 1996-98 Gillig Phantoms.
Chicago and LA both have rough streets. These Ex-LACMTA GMCs sure put up a good fight while they were in service. The last 8200s were retired in late 2000 i believe.
Typical RTS you gotta turn with left hand on wheel and right hand on bar as typical Flxible buses and Classics (MCI-Nova).

Wonderful video! Btw, one of the LACMTA's TMC RTS buses was used as a IKEA shuttle bus.

Actually, they were discontinued 2008, not 2007. It was also the same year that the Orion V was discontinued.

I wish LACMTA took better care of them like OCTA did
newyorkfan16 3 years ago
they ran them to the ground. most of them started to disappear around the late 90s.
ea90744 3 years ago
Just like Chicago didn't take better care of their TMCs after their rehabbed in 2001.
